So basically, today we're having the Father's day event, and that's great. But I just know this because I decided to randomly get interactions to finish up an exploration, and got lucky to see that I found one of the items you get from it in my header. It's only after that thing happening that a RANDOM post in the community thread told me what this was all about.
My point is : This event was INVISIBLE. I never would have guessed something like that would happen...
So my suggestion is : Whenever an event like that occurs, I think everyone would be pleased if something was showing up in the notifications / updates thingy above your party. Just a little post somewhere on the forum to clarify the situation.
I would have been kinda sad to miss the event because it's written NOWHERE (except in random posts in a community thread that not everyone checks regularly)
TL;DR : Notify us when events happen plz
Thank you for your consideration.
IMHO, checking forums shouldn't be THAT really hard + the forum could use a bit more activity so announcing events on forum is fine. But again, that's just me.
Ok I just saw Zerxer's post about the event...... at the bottom of page 1 of the June topic. Okay. I don't feel like it's enough tho.
Zerxer made a post on both the Month of June and Community Thread. Though having something to notify that a post was made, like an exclamation mark next to the two threads on the header for example, would be nice.
I also posted on our Facebook and Twitter. I recommend following one or both of them if you use those social networks at all, because I try to announce any special events there too.
... but... I mean... the one site that you know for sure every gpx user uses is not facebook or twitter... it's gpx.... I don't see a reason why an event isn't announced by its own post, it's not like there's an event every two days...
I'm sorry but I don't understand, it's not like I'm saying "you suck you SHOULD HAVE DONE that' it's just "in the future, why not make a post and make it visible when you see your party"?
I did see this very early on, because I'm in Discord - also a good way to get these updates. But I did think there could have been a line added to the Month of June link on the site, something like, [Update: Father's Day]. I mean that's been done before, hasn't it? So much as I think people should be regularly reading the forums, I have to kinda agree here.
Yeah, I completely missed this because there was no notification anywhere. I'm not an active participant in the forums, and while I do have a Twitter and Facebook, I very rarely use them. I recall events like this having little updates in the header, so I don't get why this one didn't. I just now found out about this event because I'm seeing new Pokemon (like Type: Null) and wondering where they came from and how I can get the vouchers to get them. Turns out... I can't, because I missed the event. And it wasn't like I wasn't on on Sunday--I was, despite being busy. But I didn't do much because I had no idea an event was going on--mostly just made sure I'd completed the scavenger hunt task, which didn't require many interactions on my part due to the multiplier that day. I dunno, I just don't feel like we should have to search elsewhere for information on events that should be given at least a little blip in the header where we're most likely to check. It's been a long time that I've completely missed an event here, so I'm rather disappointed, especially because I've enjoyed getting the new Pokemon via vouchers first.
As for where I found out about the event? The GPX wiki, in my search for whatever voucher would give a Type: Null. Not here, where I feel it should've been, or at least made more prominent than it was.
