1st: ??? is a CPU character.
2nd: All CPU trainers are meant to be difficult, gives player a challenge.

NOTE: You might want to watch out for the types, because many different Pokemon have critical or weak effects on others. Ex: Fire - Grass Critical
Ex: Water - Grass Weak.

I am pretty sure ??? Pokemon might look weak, but it is one of the hardest.

I agree, they probably are the toughest one to beat of the NPCs. They're not cheating, they're just strong. Maybe you could make a note for yourself which Pokémon/types are used, and then try to figure out which Pokémon may have the most success against them, and then just keep on trying and thinking and changing, if necessary.

I'd recommend reading this thread; even though it says it's for the Battle Subway it helps with general team planning.

Your best bet is to pick hard hitters and give them battle items to make them even more powerful. Knowing type advantages and general stat distribution is extremely beneficial, too. Considering that there's a dedicated thread for battling, I'll close this.
