For me, it was in Mother 3, after Hinawa is found dead, when Flint freaks out and starts fighting with everyone. It was so sad, I literally sat there and cried while watching it.

Saddest game endings=PMD endings. Seriously.
The tears are from happiness at the very very end, but when the cutscenes begin, oh God ;~; -------------------- |

The saddest moment for me, was the ending of Mother 3. For any who have played the game, they can relate.

I don't play a whole lot of games, but I was really into Odin Sphere a long while back and the scenes in the beginning with Gwendolyn and her father and the little blue bird really got to me sometimes. >>; I really ought to finish that game (so awesome!).

I don't know why it always gets to me, but when I played Legend of Dragoon, and Lavits dies ;(.

*Tries recalling upsetting moments in video games.*
Hmmm... I guess the ending to Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction was sad. It was so unfair that Ratchet and Clank got separated just after saving the galaxy from the evil cragmites. And also in Jak 3 when Jak finds out that Damos who had just died was his father. Samos died not knowing that Jak was his son. Lastly, both PMD Endings are capable of bringing a tear to your eye, not that I ever cried my eyes out after watching the outhros. -------------------- Software engineer by day. The "Microwave Hallway" from Metal Gear Solid IV made me feel really bad for Snake. Plus the split screen showing other events going on while playing the Love Theme from the OST just added to the moment. At that part, you couldn't help but feel sorry for the guy after all he's been through in the previous games. Especially since at that moment, he's being cooked from the inside.
Another really depressing moment in a video game for me was when Dom finally found Maria in Gears of War 2. The stuff before that was just so-so, but right at that moment things got very emotional, especially with that choice he had to make. -------------------- [align=center]

I'd have to say Super Mario Galaxy ending. Water-works everytime.
No, the Lumas can't die! T_T -------------------- Twitch Plays Pokemon has taught me three things: - Praise Helix - The PC and the B button are both evil incarnate - Never bet on Entei I have claims on Banette... but that should be obvious. Avatar Source |

Endings in most games. Because it's over. ><
Oh and in Persona 3, after Shinji dies. I added him to my party a whole lot too. |

(Btw, it's an old game, maybe about 9 years ago that it came out) That was exactly the scene I thought of first when I read the topic title. Legend of Dragoon is still one of my favorite games. Whenever I think about Rose's flashback with all the Dragoons dying, I get goosebumps. -------------------- |

only sad part about a game for me is when i finish it and there is really nothing left to do but repeat it. But i get over it and try to find some new joy in it.

damn, PMD ends are really emotional (i only have first one) but the fact that then you continue playing like nothing, that was odd.
i knew the lumas didn't really die, but still, that ending was awesome, the graphics were real cool for wii standards. the end of Sonic the werehog. poor chip and actually off-topic, but the moment i turned on my gold/red, and the internal battery had died. a tear came down that moment. -------------------- |

Not to be on MGS again, but...
Sniper Wolf's death in Metal Gear Solid. Otacon had that monologue and he was crying the way through, fighting back tears... Likewise, Emma Emmerich's death in Metal Gear Solid 2 : Sons of Liberty/Substance. Otacon's younger sister, and he recalled Wolf too, bringing forth even more tears. His "I'm always the survivor" speech and afterwards were the saddest... But still, outside of Metal Gear, Mystery Dungeon's endings are quite sad. Not quite as emotional as the aforementioned two in MGS, but they were still sad. I thought Mystery Dungeon 1's ending was more sad than 2, though. EDIT: I would add Sonic Unleashed, with Chip to the list, but Sonic's attitude toward it was just so... selfish. It didn't seem that he cared, just running off with a grin. I just remembered Valkyrie Profile. The whole game is sad, as every character you get has to die first, but the saddest one is the mermaid. I'm sniffling just writing this.
