aw yeah

Full Name: Gilbert Alleen Haydn

Nickame(s): Gil, The Black Lily

Age: 18

Hometown: Hearthome City, Sinnoh

Appearance: The very first thing you should know about Gilbert is that she is, in fact, a lady (thank you very much). If her...generous assets didn't clue you in to that first, the rest of her looks certainly would. Standing at 165 cm, Gil is rather slim while retaining just the right amount of curves. Her skin is quite pale but not so much as to be translucent, giving her a distinctly eerie look in certain lights. Gil's face is narrow with slightly defined cheekbones and a narrow jaw. Like her brother's, her hair is a dark purple colour that has a lustrous lavender glow, highlighting the amount of time the young lady puts into maintaining it. Falling to the middle of her back with bangs brushed carelessly over her right eye, she rarely spends time doing it up in fancy styles, making it all the more stunning when she does. Gilbert’s shoulders slope gently and her arms are rather thin; if her family ever fell on hard times she'd be hard-pressed to find bracelets in her size that weren't custom-made for her. Gil considers her legs her finest feature and thusly tends to show them off when she can, usually by sitting in uncomfortable but eye-appeasing positions.

While Gilbert, like her brother, has a multitude of outfits at her disposal, her most cherished is by far something you'd not expect to see in a proper young lady's wardrobe. The first piece is a simple black sleeveless undershirt with a turtleneck. With this she wears a purple plaid skirt and, underneath, hazy grey tights that are much stronger than they first appear to be. The tights thicken at her ankles almost like socks, allowing her combat boots to be worn with ease. Specially made for Gil's discerning, decidedly Gothic tastes, the boots have had purple plaid fabric sewn into the sides and treated, making them nigh-indestructible. Over her shirt and skirt she wears a sleeveless grey overcoat that ends shortly before the hem of her skirt. The overcoat has a high collar and black decorative lines swooping down the sides, held to her waist by a simple yet sturdy black belt. Elbow-to-wrist black arm warmers complete the ensemble.

This is not, however, to say that this outfit is the only thing Gilbert fancies. She has a beautiful dress reserved expressly for contests – a thing of black lace that, unlike the rest of her body-hugging outfits, seems to hide most of her figure, giving her a demure look. Decorated with onyx and dark amethysts and made up with black lipstick and eyeshadow, Gilbert 'The Black Lily' Hadyn is in the nightmares of every coordinator in Hearthome – when she arrives in the Contest Hall, there is sure to be a full house.

Personality: With her well-groomed appearance and affluent upbringing, one would assume Gilbert to have impeccable manners, and she does – in public. She's actually quite ruthless and judging, constantly looking for the little flaws in everyone. Her talent lies in pointing out these flaws in the form of a complement, her unwary victim only realising they were insulted much later. She is rarely openly nice to anyone; she only holds her scathing comments back when talking to her brother, her best friend, and her Pokemon.

Pampered since the start, Gilbert has developed somewhat of a vanity issue. She is very careful about her appearance – after all, Contests are as much about the coordinator as the Pokemon – and can lose her temper quite easily if her looks fall short of perfection. She preens under complements and often goes out of her way to draw attention to herself, much to the exasperation of Llewellyn. She also has a tendency to show off her Pokemon; while this isn't a problem for Dorian (who is as much of a drama queen as Gil), Reece has some troubles holding himself together for long enough to be praised. Despite her rather girly interests, Gil has a tomboyish streak she tries to hide as often as possible, changing the subject whenever one of her stranger actions gets mentioned.

Gil does have her limits, though – she's rarely rude to people who clearly don't deserve to be put down, and actually finds a little happiness in helping new Coordinators learn he ropes (Llew, however, is a lost cause). While she does poke fun at her brother from time to time, she cares about his well-being and will even turn to violence if someone insults or hurts him beyond what she thinks is acceptable.

Biography: Hearthome City – the very name conjures images of affluent youths strolling through the streets, treating their pampered Pokemon to a poffin from the world-famous Poffin House. The Contest Hall is the shining star of the city, attracting Coordinators the world over to its marble halls and gilded stages.

Roberto Haydn had lived in Hearthome a long time with his parents; like the gym leader Fantina, the family was practically swimming in cash. Roberto's ancestors had extensive amounts of money invested in highly successful companies when they had just started out, such as Silph Co., Devon Corporation, and the Pokétch Company. Over the years, they've hoarded and soon became in the top percentage of rich folks in all of Sinnoh.

Roberto chose a wife that wasn't as rich as him, but still she had money, not to mention she was quite the looker. Julia Haydn was welcomed into the family, and not long after the expensive wedding, twins were born: Llewellyn and Gilbert Haydn.

Their names are actually quite a funny story. Just after the birth of their children, the Haydn's gave their children names — the male was Gilbert, and the female was Llewellyn. However, the nurses were very incompetent and mixed the names up. Llewellyn became the boy's name, Gilbert the girl's. Their parents didn't notice until a few months later, and by then, it was too late.

Gilbert was never teased for her 'manly' name – if anyone even dared smirk, they'd be face down in the mud faster than the blink of an eye. After proving her dominance, she found out that the bullies had turned on her brother instead. Deeming this unacceptable, she promptly beat up everyone involved, leading the Haydn adults to withdraw their precious children from school and hire a tutor. After the first few left the house in tears from Gil's abrasive retorts, Roberto finally found a group willing to put up with (or simply ignore) his daughter's mean streak.

At this point in time, the twins had already been sufficiently spoiled. But, when they spent all their time at home and away from society (save rich parties), they were given even more things. "No" would never have been said to them — if one of the nannies even said no to them, the nanny in question would be fired the next day. In fact, the children were so spoiled that they were given Pokémon from a faraway land, called Unova, when they were around six – at least, Llew received one. Gil, who really wasn't that interested in the new region, sent her Snivy back and instead asked for a Misdreavus, much to the confusion of her parents. However, they couldn't tell their sweetie 'no' and got one for her. Gil named him Reece and immediately set out to train him, although he vanished a lot and left beads all over her room.

It was about that time that the Haydn parents began to focus on gaining even more money and also boosting their social status. Gil, who had always been her father's favourite, was suddenly left alone as her parents began to attend lavish, 'grown-up' parties daily. The twins were frustrated (Llew to the point of tears) and begged their parents to stay home more often. To make them more or less shut up, they gave both he and Gil two more pokémon from that far away land. They both got a Zorua and Llew got a Klink, naming it Nova. Dorian, Gilbert's Zorua, soon became closer to her than Reece and earned his place at her side, forgoing his Luxury Ball permanently. Reece didn't really mind the sudden shift in affections – it made it a lot easier for him to steal food from the fridge without getting caught.

When the twins were eleven, their parents got invited to a party. That wasn't unusual, but the family hosting it had just moved into the city.

QUOTE(The Party | Meeting Rachelle)
Dorian made a small noise in the back of his throat, pressing himself closer to Gil. They'd never been in the house. Granted, it wasn't as large as theirs, but it was still large enough for them to get lost in. That's exactly what they had done. Gil had wanted to explore the house, solely to see if they were as rich as the Haydn's, but she hadn't banked on getting lost. At the moment, they were standing at the end of a long hallway. The floors were granite — Gilbert much preferred marble — and the walls had portraits of the family's ancestors. At the end there was a rather large painting of presumably the family: a mom, a dad, and a little girl in the middle, who was a bit chubby.

A voice from behind caught Gil's attention. They both swivelled around to find the same little girl from the picture, looking rather annoyed. She snapped at them in an unknown language, one that sounded very prim yet congested at the same time.

Gil grew annoyed at this and retorted back in a pompous voice, "Why aren't you speaking our language — the right language?" Llew shook his head and his Minccino wrinkled its nose.

The girl stopped suddenly and blinked. "... What did you just say to me?" she asked, flicking her short black hair back, raising an eyebrow.

"Oh good you can speak our language. What's your name, or do you not know how to say that?" asked Gil, glaring creepily at her. Llew took a step back, hiding halfway behind his sister.

The girl wrinkled her nose, shoving her hands on her hips. She did a small pose and announced, "I am Rachelle-Anne Lafourcade-Hauchecorne, and I am eight years old!"

The Haydn twins stared at her before Gil promptly started laughing. "And I'm Gilbert Alleen Haydn. This is my twin brother, Llewellyn Cassius Haydn, and we're eleven years old!" She laughed again, but softer.

The other girl huffed, sticking her tongue out. "But I'm better than you two!"

There was a short pause before Gil and Rachelle grinned at each other. Llewellyn gave a really small smile. It was the start of a beautiful friendship between all three of them.

Gil spent most of the next few years discovering her love for contests, using ridiculous amounts of money to expand her wardrobe and get celebrity Coordinators to show her the ropes. When she was confident enough, her father had some maids escort her to the Contest Hall. A long two hours later, and she emerged victorious – granted, it had been against other new-comers and didn't really count as an actual contest – but the spark had grown into a flame. Since that day Gil racked up quite the record, mixing spectacular wins with soul-crushing losses. Gilbert didn't pitch too much of a fit, though – the challenge was what made it fun.

When she was eighteen, she dragged Llew and Rachelle into a bet.

QUOTE(The Tea Party)
Gilbert reclined slightly in her chair, Dorian at home in her lap. The table was set so nicely. Rachelle and Llew were there as well, the latter telling Treble some stupid joke. This small party of their own — taking place in the Haydn's lush backyard — was quite dapper, something that became part of a weekend. It was a celebration of sorts, though they weren't really celebrating anything in particular.

It was a bright, clear day, late noon. An array of Mr. Mimes stood on guard with little bow ties to wait on hand and foot for the three. Some held trays laden with different kinds of cakes, others held trays with various cakes, others held nothing at all. It was pretty quiet as the people sat down and gave off sighs of relaxation.

"Oh, I heard something about a new region," said Gil, taking a drink from a tray and sipping daintily at it.

Rachelle, in the middle of shoving a lemon cake into her mouth hungrily looked up with Llew. "Ah, luike Uhnoha?" she asked, mouth full. She took a moment to swallow the cake, taking a drink out of her own glass to wash it down. The Haydn boy kept his mouth shut, but he shared glances with his Minccino, uncertain glances.

Gil nodded matter-of-factly. "Yup! It's called Furoh. I wonder if they have any new pokémon..."

Llewellyn spoke up then. "I bet they do!" He gave off a small grin, Treble nodding with him.

"Min!" he chirped, stuffing a cake into his mouth.

"Well!" said Rachelle, holding up a finger, "we should go check it out... I mean, I bet they have tons of hot guys too!" She giggled then, stopping only to take another drink.

There was a small silence; Gilbert broke it. "And contests too." Her eyes sparkled slightly as the corners of her mouth twitched up. "Why don't we get a little bet going, huh bro?"

Llew blinked, not expecting that to be directed at him. His eyes grew somewhat hard. "... Who... Can get the ribbons first? I wonder how many there are... I'll win, of course, I mean... I've already won here... Right, Treble?" The Minccino once again nodded and pulled the ribbon off of his ear, showing it proudly to everyone, even though they both had seen it already.

Rachelle rolled her eyes. "Oh come on! Euh, I will win!"

"... So everyone's in. Excellent!" said Gil, leaning back in her white wooden chair slightly. Dorian smirked. "Whoever wins..."

"Gets bragging rights and unlimited everything!" shouted Rachelle. Llew and Gil stared incredulously at her.

"... No." the twins said simultaneously. Gil continued, "How about...the losers have to be the winner's servants for a month?"

Rachelle straight up laughed. Wiping a tear from her eye, she said, "Oh oui! Perfect! You will wait on me and get me everything!" She laughed again, quite pleased with herself.

Llew huffed. "No, I'm definitely gonna win now!" Treble nodded — habit.

Gil chuckled. "Then...off to Furoh we go!"

Starting Pokemon:

Dorian

Level 10 Zorua | Illusion | Naughty Male

Scratch | Leer | Pursuit | Fake Tears

Living up to the not-so-honourable reputation of his kind, Dorain is a trickster through and through. Like Gil, he has learned to control his manners in public, acting the part of a pampered pet. During contests, on the other head, he uses every trick he knows in order to ensure a win; his shapeshifting prowess is rather weak due to inexperience, and the only forms he can hold for long are those of other small, four-legged Pokemon. He is most proficient at Vulpix, although his Skitty impression is getting better.

He is named after the main character in Gil's favourite book, The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Reece

Level 10 Misdreavus | Levitate | Quirky Male

Growl | Psywave | Spite | Astonish

Reece is, put simply, unnerving. His youth has made his grip on the corporeal world tenuous at best and as such has trouble maintaining his shape. Often one will only see parts of him floating about, leading to rumours that Haydn Manor is haunted. Gil knows this is nonsense and is currently attempting to help Reece gain control of his powers, mostly so she can flaunt him in contests. Reece is somewhat of a kleptomaniac (here, 'somewhat' means 'he's got a problem') and, when not watched, floats off to steal anything not bolted down. He doesn't really know he's doing it, however – during one memorable occasion, he actually stole from himself.
