I consider life to be a struggle. We all have to deal with the consequences of our actions. I have hopes and dreams that have yet to be fulfilled, and it's going to take a long-ass time to accomplish them (considering that I do). To answer the question, I would take eternal youth without a second thought. Like many, I do not want to die. I would enjoy experiencing life on earth for an extremely long time. There is always something to do, there is always something to accomplish, and there is always time to pleasure yourself and have some fun. As for mentality, I would like that not to stay the same. Throughout my life, the person that I am has evolved and changed on a regular basis. I think this is because of the relationships and interactions I've had with other people. They create me as I create them. ^ pretty much this. also, i wouldn't just sit around like a lazy ass and do nothing. this is my chance to change the world. being immortal means that you can do absolutely anything, so if you think about it and dig deeper into the idea of immortality, you will realize that it's not just about missing your family, or being young and lazy, ect... but what about everyone else in the world? what about their reactions? their existence? the simple fat that there is 1 immortal person on earth would change and warp the idea of the afterlife, of heaven and hell, of god, of... well, everything. forever. perhaps im thinking too much about it, but if you really think about it, you can pretty much do anything you want, whether it be a villain, destroying the earth and killing everything in sight, re-creating your own world to fulfill your own selfish needs, or being a hero, helping people, even in the most disastrous situations, because it wouldn't matter since you can't die. of course, those aren't the only 2 options you would have, but i think you get the idea. the main reason that i would like to be immortal though, is to forever see the future of the world, and the existence of the universe itself. i may not be able to die, and may never be able to know what exactly happens when i die, but i would be willing to sacrifice that in order to truly make the world into the happiest place it deserves to be. EDIT - oh, and i would never get bored. people are constantly inventing stuff, and the world is constantly evolving. there might be a certain point that you may hit that you've "seen it all", so to speak, and there doesn't seem like theres nothing left to do, but i'm a very creative person, and i personally think i would be able to manage whatever boredom comes upon me. The way you say it, eternal youth is different from eternal life. eternal youth means you don't get old and die from age. I, for one, would take eternal youth. If it also meant i couldn't die even if the world ended, i wouldn't take it. if it meant i would die only when the world ended, i would take it. if the world never ended, i would take it if immortality allowed me to have the strength to go to the afterlife and visit my friends and loved ones, i would take it.
Technically, there is sort of eternal life after death in most beliefs, so its really the same thing. This post has been edited by zerohundred: May 23 2012, 08:55 PM -------------------- |
