Just curious, but why did they bury him at sea? The consipiracy theorists are gonna love that...

I think it may have been partly for religious reasons, but I'm not sure. I would have to go look that up when I have some time.

Muslim tradition requires people to be buried within 24 hours of their deaths, and, as the U.S. government didn't want his burial site to become a "shrine" where terrorists might meet, they gave him a funeral somewhere in the middle of the ocean. Many non-extremist Muslims are annoyed because they gave him the full honors.. it's been compared to burying a serial killer in Arlington.

Because he was born in Saudi Arabia, they refused to have him apparently. Which was part of the reason why he was buried at sea.

I mean, yeah it's great that a terrorist is dead. But in reality, I have a horrible feeling Britain is going to be targeted as-well as the United States (Providing they actually hatch a plan for revenge)

Interestingly enough, Hitler seems to have committed suicide the day before Osama was killed. It's off topic a bit, but I thought that was strange.

Yeah, I also find it morbid to celebrate someone's death.

Also, why do I have a horrible feeling that they would assassinate Obama next...

Same day actually.

It's great that we have the threat over and done with for a few weeks maybe, but instead of celebrating they need to focus on making sure a revenge tactic doesn't take place while they pour the champagne.

Yeah this thread is (almost) dead, but now I am seeing a lot of people who don't believe Osama is dead. Just a quick point.

I'm happy that he's no longer a threat. but they should have taken him in for questioning. who knows what kind of knowledge we could have gotten from him? we may have just signed thousands of death notes...

I am so happy he's dead. And they're "secretly" assaninating future leaders of al Qaueda. And I think they did bury him at sea. Didn't you see that SNL episode? point.gif

Well I think we should be relieved that he is dead, but i don't think people should have been celebrating his death. Yes he was a bad person, but he had family and they are grieving. How would you feel if you had a beloved family member that died and countless people we cheering?

Just my opinion

Now while I'm quite apathetic to the fact that he's dead (which, I'll be honest, can also be said about any average Joe since, let's be honest as a whole...death happens), but what I will say is that I'm much more comfortable with his death being a casualty of an arms fight than it was an execution such as the case with Saddam Hussein. It's best explained the way my Dad puts it: Countries, especially in a time of war, will look to find any justification they can to doing some horrible things. Since we executed Saddam instead of just holding him, the Middle Eastern countries now have an excuse to do the same to us, and we won't have SHIT to say in defense about it.

Though I will say that it's rather funny to see people wondering why there's still a conflict. Sure, they've started slowing down, but it's not like Osama himself was the one doing all of the shooting. There are still a good amount of Afghan's out there with guns, explosives, and vendetta against American soldiers.

Well... I was 1 when this all happened, so it's not like I was panicking.
But, seriously, killing was not to be done. He could have rare world treasures hidden, live people locked up... Though yeah after he would tell everyone I'd kill him. Throw him on world's edge and kick him off.
