Lori was making her way off of the battlefield with her ex-opponent, Cesc Rojas, when the chaos began. It began with her Minccino evaporating out of her arms and back into the green Pokeball at her waist without her activating the device at all.

“No, wait Chico!” She protested, assuming at first that the chinchilla had somehow recalled himself but a split second later Cesc’s Chimchar was gone, too. “Hey! What’s up, guys!?”

Flash! FLASH!... F-f-f-FLASHFLASHFLASHFLASHFLASHFLASH!!!

Like an epileptic’s nightmare, the world lit up in a dazzling array of white bursts of light that gave Lori cause to shield her eyes with her hands.

“Wha?! What’s going on?!” She demanded of no-one in particular as the sky began to rain Electrode. They thudded down all around her in the sand, kicking up dust with their insanely grinning faces. Lori took a nervous step back from the nearest of the Pokemon and took her hair in her hands defensively.

“Trode!” A voice angrily moaned, accompanied by a bump to the back of Lori’s buttocks.

“Cesc?” She reached out a hand to fumble awkwardly for his sleeve. “Ceeeesc!?” Her voice grew in volume and pitch as fear took over her throat while the Electrode began to shine. “CEEEESC!?!?”

As the Electrode landed around them, Cesc sprang into the only reasonable course of action he could think of: He reached down and swept Lori up off of her feet, making a mad dash off the battlefield. The glowing Electrode exploded behind them shortly thereafter, flinging the two to the ground.

Groaning, Cesc stood back up, looking around wildly. As more Electrode began to land on the ground, Cesc grinned. His Pokemon had been leveled up to a much higher strength, and Oberon would be able to help protect everyone.

"Oberon, Ice Shard!"

But it wasn't Oberon the Sneasel who appeared. In fact, a rather confused looking Farfetch'd stared at him in return. He looked down at his belt, confused, then noticed that there were six pokeballs, rather than the original 4 he carried. What was happening?

Where's Branwys?

"Lori, we've gotta find Branwys, c'mon!"

Not taking a second to think that perhaps Lori would want to run for safety, he helped her up, and, holding her hand, ran towards Branwys's section of the battle arena.

“Eeep!” Lori squealed as Cesc swept her literally off of her feet and dashed away from the Electrode. The Explosion that ensued was enough to send Cesc and his luggage a’tumblin’ and Lori hit the ground hard. The wind wasn’t quite taken from her but the impact had certainly stolen her breath for a second… Well, only as efficiently as Cesc had – he landed next to her with his arm across her chest. He got up without comment but Lori couldn’t help the bright red spots of embarrassment from swelling in her cheeks.

“Oberon, use Ice Shard!”

Lori watched her saviour order her defense expertly with wind-tussled hair that danced in the breeze like a fluttering Beautifly but with the ferocity of a Luxray’s mane… She held her hands to her warm face with awe and lost herself to a bizarre fantasy for a brief moment before she was snagged up from the ground.

"Lori, we've gotta find Branwys, c'mon!" Cesc urged her and, obediently, Lori followed.

*Branwys?! Who’s Branwys!?!?*

Lori stumbled after the other trainer awkwardly across the sand in their own arena to the center of the complex and into a different section that was a blasted landscape of rock that reminded her of the surface of the moon. Blackened Electrodes dotted the area, spent after detonating on impact with the ground, dust clouds and smoke billowing out around them. Lori gulped.

“W-what is this, Cesc?” She asked the question but upon reflection realised that he probably didn’t have an answer for her. He appeared to be concerned about this Branwys person (weird name – was it a boy or a girl?) and most likely wouldn’t want her asking stupid questions while she was tagging along.

She hung back a little, trailing the handsome teen worriedly, flinching at every sound and scream that pierced the air. Another explosion sounded not far off, causing her to bury her face into Cesc’s shoulder while ensaring his armin a death-grip.

“Please, please make it stop!” She begged, unable to hold it together amid the chaos.
