My friend and I (both pokemon fans) were talking once, and he said, "What if an Earthquake in Japan killed ALL the Pokemon designers? (Ken Sugimori, etc.)" I was stricken wordless. What WOULD happen? Would they find replacements? Would the earth explode? Probably not. Well?

It would be the end of the world as we know it!!
But really, we'd have to settle with only 649 pokémons...FOREVER!! THE HORROR /joke I can settle with that but wouldn't mind if there is a new gen but its a little early to say that. -------------------- My First ever Roleplay character just got accepted!! Well either they would find replacements or we would stick with the Pokemon we have now. I'm pretty sure the world wouldn't explode though XD

Well,
about that now... Heh heh... Well... And 8.9 Earthquake kinda hit Japan... ...And triggered two nuclear explosions and most likely a nuclear meltdown soon. ._. -------------------- "Find something to believe in, and find it for yourself. If they were to die under any circumstances (and they will), the pokemon series would most likely continue one way or another. Consider pokemon to be the Mario of handheld consoles.
Ether that or they'll make a final game where this world is destroyed by an earthquake/other disaster and the credits roll with sad music playing. In other words, unresolved cliffhanger. This post has been edited by Dazmi: Mar 20 2011, 06:25 AM -------------------- |

LOl Dazmi.Great theory XD. I guess someone WILL take the owner's license over nintendo/I mean like-We can't just lose Zelda pokemon and Mario like this right? So even if they die they will make another game. The series might be cut off air,but the games will stand tall.

As people previously said, they'd find replacements. There are other drawers that are within the company, so there wouldn't be any problem. Besides the design-team changes from games to games(once in a while anyways).
I don't think that would be any problem for Pokémon. -------------------- |

You guys do know the original creator of Pokemon actually died because of the earthquake. But, apparently the guys at Pokemon are happy about it because it "gives them more freedom with the games."

lol no he didn't, that was a trolling attempt by a sector of theboardwhichmustbenamed.. furthermore, the actual company would never say something like that. ever heard the phrase "do not speak ill of the dead?" that would be an extremely bad PR move to speak so morbidly in public.
Hydrogen explosions =/= complete nuclear explosion. I don't think "anyone with basic knowledge of nuclear physics" amounts to many people, to be fair lol

It's a misconception, it's not a big deal. No need to be condescending about saying the facts, because not everyone's even well versed in the basics of nuclear physics...

The creator of Pokemon didn't die in the quake. That was a falsely submitted piece of information.

The creator of Pokemon didn't die in the quake. That was a falsely submitted piece of information. Yeah, I don't know who or what started that rumor, but it was kinda stupid. There were a bunch of people at my school freaking out over it, and one person actually walked up to me and told me that now I could get a life, since there would be no more Pokémon without someone to create them. Anyways, if the creator were to die, I think Nintendo and Game Freak would probably be able to go on without him. Either that, or they would make one last, epic game in his honor, and then end the series. -------------------- |

He didn't die at all. Tokyo was hardly hit at all, it was more up north.

I would be perfectly happy to take over design and that...
-------------------- "The world spins on pain. I realised that if there is a supreme power, then it is our duty to become it's moral superior." -Lord Havelock Vetinari, Patrician of Ankh-Morpork "The sentient may perceive and love the universe, but the universe may not perceive and love the sentient. The universe sees no distinction between the multitude of creatures and elements which comprise it. All are equal. None is favored. The universe, equipped with nothing but the materials and the power of creation, continues to create: something of this, something of that. It cannot control what it creates and it cannot, it seems, be controlled by its creations (though a few might deceive themselves otherwise). Those who curse the workings of the universe curse that which is deaf. Those who strike out at those workings fight that which is inviolate. Those who shake their fists, shake their fists at blind stars."- Michael Moorcock, author. |
