Name: Ken Wincrest
Age: 15 Hometown: Pyrite Town, Orre Appearance Ken is average height for his age, standing at about 5”9. He has a slender build, with muscle only just beginning to appear visibly on his arms and legs. All of the time spent in the Orre desert has lightly tanned his skin. His hair is a soft blond color, which is typically kept short and spiky along the bangs. Below this, his eyes are a cold, dark blue that fails to display information well. Typically, Ken will be seen wearing a soft orange t-shirt that has sleeves that only go half-way down his biceps. Over this, he wears a black vest that hold several tube-like pockets in a pattern of three going down on each breast of the vest. His pants are generally green cargo pants, with large pockets on each leg for more supplies. His belt is orange in color, and has been formatted to easily house six pokeballs on his left side and a holster for his Pokegear on the right. Depending on the weather, he may or may not be wearing a pair of dark sunglasses to shield his eyes from the elements. Personality Ken is a very determined individual. This is his driving force for wanting to become powerful. His determination has the unfortunate tendency to be misinterpreted as cruelty. He tends to expect much from his Pokémon, and is less than forgiving when they fail. He has a similar view on people, and views those who take a carefree attitude to Pokémon training with disdain. Victory is the only thing that matters, and anything less than that means that he has failed. As such, Ken isn’t quick to solve his problems through fighting, and will rarely fight anybody he deems beneath himself unless necessary. During battle, he is cold and calculating, and will pull no punches in order to obtain victory. Biography Pyrite Town was a seedy town. The criminals ran rampant, and the police had quit trying to stop them long ago. It was no place to raise a child, but that didn’t stop the Wincrest couple from trying. They raised their son as best they could, but as he grew older he kept getting into trouble. Be it fights with thugs or pick-pocketing travelers, Ken kept falling deeper and deeper into the corruption of the city. The only solution was to send him to live with his grandparents in Johto. Upon his arrival in Mahogany Town, Ken was quickly taken under the wing of his grandfather, who had been a prominent member of the police force. His grandfather reasoned that all that the boy needed was strict discipline, so he gave it to him in spades. This treatment whipped him into shape that by his thirteenth birthday, Ken was awarded with his first Pokémon: a Swinub. This would be his grandfather’s first and only sign of kindness, as he died only a few months later. At the funeral Ken watched on emotionless, as it would have been a sign of weakness to cry. Unable to support a growing boy, Ken’s grandmother sent him back to his parents. The boy returned changed. The mischievous scamp was no more, and he quickly formed enemies with the local criminals. Their errand boy had abandoned them and now had the nerve to show his face in town again. One day, a group of them attempted to gang up on him and beat him up, only to be easily dispatched by him and his Pokémon. This trend continued for the next couple of years, until Ken finally grew bored of the destruction of the weak. He ventured out into the desert alone to hopefully find a challenge. He found sand. After much searching, he saw it. A lone Hippopotas was digging its way around an oasis. This was the challenge he needed, another Pokémon. After a long and hardy battle, Ken realized two things: one, was that he needed more challenging opponents to show off against, and two, he would need more Pokémon to do so. So he caught the Hippopotas and immediately went home. Without the simplest of goodbyes to his parents, he packed his bags and hitched a ride to Gateon Port. There he boarded a ship bound for Furoh. He had heard this was where those with strength met, and he was the strongest of all. All he needed to do was find the chance to prove it.
