Azurill has a 75% chance of being female, but Marill has a 50-50 ratio, so in the games an Azurill can actually change gender with evolution.
Is that possible in GPX+ or could it ever be possible if not? -------------------- Uprising art (click to show ) |

an Azurill can actually change gender with evolution. ..I never knew that. That's.. awesome. Heh, it would be neat if it were implemented in GPX+, but I'm thinking it's simpler to just leave it as it is. -------------------- |

I have a Azumarill, evolved from a Marill and formerly that, a Azurill.
They do not change colours, and this fact is not implemented on GPX+. The reason this happens in the games is because Marill and Azurill were introduced in different generations. I doubt it will be implemented here, however. Since we have Male Vespiqueens and many spawned questions because of this, i don't think that we'll ever have a -------------------- ☆ - ゚ - ゚ - ゚ - ☆ ☆ - ゚ - ゚ - ゚ - ☆ Thank you to Shirogane for my personal photo ! The gender ratio counts when the game actually creates a new Pokemon, not evolves an old one. If that was true, every Pokemon could change gender upon evolution as even with both having 50-50 ratio, there's still a chance - pretty big one - to end up with a female - and what previously have been a male. This is not true with evolution, as upon this process the evolved Poke inherits every IVs, EVs, AND GENDER NATURALLY from what it was before. So, Marills that evolve from Azurills have the same gender ratio as Azurills. Only Marills met in the wild as such have 50-50 ratio.

Actually, I did a little research into this:
From this Psypokes article: QUOTE Every Pokemon is assigned a number (one byte, ranging from 0 to 255) that controls their gender. This is regardless of their gender ratio, so all-female Pokemon (like Chansey) and even genderless Pokemon (like Starmie) are given this number. For Pokemon whose gender can be either male or female, there is a value known as the gender breakpoint which is the borderline between the determination of male and female. This breakpoint value varies depending on the gender ratio of that Pokemon. This table shows the possible ratios and breakpoints: Ratio Breakpoint Male: 75%, Female: 25% 64 Male: 50%, Female: 50% 128 Male: 25%, Female: 75% 192 Male: 12.5%, Female: 87.5% 224 So in other words, if an Abra, whose gender ratio is 50% Male, 50% Female, has a gender value of 0 - 127, it will be female. If its gender value is 128 - 255. The Psydex has a listing of the gender ratios for each Pokemon. So if an Azurill, which has a M25%:F75%, has a gender value of between 128-191, it will be female as an Azurill, but upon evolution will become male, since Marill has a 50-50 chance and the breakpoint is lowered. This is corroborated by the Bulbapedia article on Azurill's Trivia section, QUOTE This causes 1 in 3 female Azurill to evolve into male Marill.
