A Quick Look at Omastar

• Shell Break could be what takes Omastar from UU to OU.
• Omastar has a horrible time staying alive due to its weaknesses to many common attacking types.
• Priority is a huge thorn in Omastar’s side, easily its best counter.

- Boiling Water/Hydro Pump/Surf
- Ice Beam
- HP Fire/Grass/Ancientpower

Set Comments

• The goal of this set is to set up and hope your opponent doesn’t have priority.
• Sash will almost guarantee a chance to sweep, especially because most leads will not expect Omastar and have a counter.
• Unless your opponent has a priority user or something seriously bulky it’s game over.
• This set wants to hit hard, but it also wants to hit all the time so it’s really up to you, but you really can’t afford to miss.
• Boiling water can burn and cripple something you’re unable to take out.
• Hidden Power Fire hits Nattorei, which could be a common threat to your sweeps, hard and Grass hits waters that Omastar wouldn’t otherwise be able to handle.
• Ancientpower is STAB, but the only thing it hits is ice types and could raise all your stats but, you’ll be completely walled by water types if you don’t have HP Grass.

Additional Comments

• Swift Swim could be used, but this being a lead set means you won’t be able to use it.
• Breakable Armor isn’t needed, but at least you’ll be able to use it sometimes.(Downside: It’s a dream world ability)
• You could use Timid, but I don’t think it will help you outspeed anything important (I haven’t done the calcs) and you want to hit as hard as possible.

Teammates & Counters

• Omastar doesn’t really care who his teammates are on this set, his goal is to set up and take out as much as possible before going out himself.
• Anything that likes to switch in on Grass or Fighting will love Omastar as he really draws those moves.
• Priority is great against Omastar and will ruin its fun every time.
• Bulky Steels can switch in well, but you better hope it’s not running HP Fire.
• Shanderaa can switch in on Omastar’s fighting type counters and set up as they run.

Overall Look

Team Options

• You need something that will get rid of priority if you want to use him late game.
• Any of Steel counters would help Omastar greatly.
• Politoed has access to Drizzle now and permarain coupled with Shell Break gives Hydro Pump 2HKO on Pokemon like Wishbliss, Crocune and Celebi.
• You want Stealth Rocks so Skarmory is good due to it losing its fire weakness in the rain.

Optional Changes

• You can run Rain Dance if you want, but considering his frailty after Shell Break, you won’t have time to use it.
• Blizzard gives you a very powerful combo with Hydro Pump, but is it worth the risk of missing?

Dream World

• Breakable Armor is his Dream World ability and he doesn’t lose anything important if he does use it so using it is up to you.

You forgot Earth Power. It has better coverage than basically anything in that last moveslot, giving Omastar perfect coverage with just three moves. Hidden Power can be kept for a specific threat, but I don't see much usage with Ancientpower, even if it is slightly more powerful than Earth Power after STAB, and has that chance of an omniboost.
