I'm tired of looking for that one certain egg. Aren't you? I know I have some Pokemon I haven't really cared about that others have been dying for. What about you?
So, this is where you guys come in: If you have any Pokemon that you don't really want anymore, it'd be wonderful if you could release them with me - after I've decided the date, of course. The beauty of this is that each person can only take six Pokemon from the shelter a day, at most, so no one can horde all of them.

I think this is a good idea. I have some duplicates that I'd be willing to release on the arranged day. There aren't many of them, but there are some 
They are: Snubbull, Totodile, two Burmys, and a Chingling

Hmmm, I like the idea! A lot!
I hope I'll know what day it is far in advance, but, considering I'm getting my computer fixed for probably two weeks, my luck is I'll miss out. :C
I'd donate my HootHoot, Burmy (steel cloak), Mankey, and Cleffa... but 1) they're fairly common anyway and 2) I don't think I'll make the deadline.
Maybe this can be a regular thing if enough people sign up for it... since we can't trade pokemon. 
Maybe like once every three months, members can pick a date to free some pokemon.
Considering this one goes over well, that is.

That's what I was thinking, but more like every 1.5-2 months, because it'd give everyone time to collect and hatch eggs, but there wouldn't be too much time in between. And, if it was every 3 months, we'd only do it four times a year

I've got a spare larvitar, duskull and tangela that I may just evolve to tangrowth if I'm releasing them. Depending on the outcome of this egg I might have a combee to release as well.

Can we release in batches? If not the releasers won't be able to catch the pokes they may one from another releaser and yesh, this is a good idea and I think I should finally do what I been waiting to...for a long time so here's my list....

O': Hourly would maybe we can group releasers together base on how many they are releasing because only 1 releaser per hour is overkill (or underkill).

No, if you abandon pokemon they go back into the shelter. They don't turn into eggs. >_>

They remain Pokémon but you just rarely see abandoned Pokémon in the Shelter.

o-o How about we group in hours and release every 15 mins of that hour.
We can plan who goes under which hours and in group they can pick who release in the first 15mins and so on.
Timezone will be an issue but people can just pick the hour they can make in under those times.
edit:
This way the shelter can be in chaos for that hour or longer :'D
I think spreading it too far apart will take away the fun in shelter chaos.

Egg slaves love to grow.
If I spot another Lab Porygon I'll hatch it and release it with the chaos since I don't like digital pink origami. I suppose I could release six Mudkip too (all males).

Maybe every 10 minutes, then? So they'd keep coming, we'd keep catching, and if we could hold out long enough, we might actually get what we want.
Maybe I should talk to each of the donators individually, so we can set up who throws what in when? It'd be more fun if no one knew when what they wanted was coming - everyone would have to camp out longer, and maybe they'd see other things they were interested in?

I concur. It'd take out the fun if you were to release Ho-Oh and everyone knew when it was coming. The same for other desirable things like Neverland's many Ditto.

Hmm..I think giving the hour we'll be releasing eggs is a good idea. We can keep the sequence like who goes per 10mins (?) a secret from those not in that hour though. How about that O':? Like this people may camp for at least an hour?

A group releasing once every 10 minutes, for.. an hour and a half to two hours? Then we could give the public the hours that releases will happen, and what groups will be released during what part of the day.
And maybe we could start at a quarter 'til whatever hour, so they'd flood the shelter on the hour? xD

I have no idea what Porygon's egg group is, but there may be a chance to reproduce it in your own time and get Porygon straight from an egg. Even better, use a ditto So want that for daycare reasons...
I'm excited about this though! I'm willing to release my hatched Mawile female and Torkoal female too since they're ugly I have no further use of them (they both don't evolve and are uncommon/rare).
If the dates are further ahead, I may be able to squeeze in a few more.

This is a nice idea, but I'm not so sure its a good idea. If you think about it, how many of these Pokemon that your very kindly donating will fall into the hands of people who really like them, and how many will fall into the hands of noobs who will just shove them in a box and foget about them. It would be lovelly if people only took the one or two they really cared for, and left the others for people who would love them more, but at the end of the day, that really isn't going to happen.
Also, I doubt how much 'give and take' will actually happen. I suspect that many of you who are being very generous here won't have the chance to get anything to reward you for your generosity, whilst the majority of those who take the Pokemon won't bother giving anything back.
I really hope that people are reasonble and do only take what they really really want, and that they remember to give back something too, but given the way most people are, I really don't think that will happen

I wouldn't have even considered this if there wasn't the 6 Pokemon/eggs a day limit, I wouldn't want all of these to go to just a few people. Many of us are donating quite a few, too, so hopefully everyone who's participating and donating with us will get at least one that they want. I know it's not a foolproof idea, but still, it's to help circulate Pokemon, help everyone fill up their Pokedexes, and generally make peoples' day. Even if I don't get any of the Pokemon I want, I know I'll be glad to know someone else might get what they've been waiting for.
Also, I think I might have a date. Next Saturday? How's that sound to everyone?

While I wouldn't mind getting a nice 'prize' for my donations, I certainly don't need any. I would be just fine knowing that my pokemon go to people who would care for them. As you said, they might fall into the hands of a noob with no intention of caring for the pokemon, but that's why were giving them away, we don't care for them either, and with all of the people stalking this thread waiting for the day of the pokemon release, I'm sure a majority will go to good owners who are actually donating pokemon and looking for a certain something.

Next Saturday should be good, and I'm not expecting on finding anything I am questing for anyways. I mean, who is throwing in a shiny female eevee? Heh, anyways I do hope this is an ongoing project, cause I enjoy just the act of giving more then anything. Though it does make me sad to see some of my donations of either egg or pokemon, in inactive accounts - those few people that appreciate it makes it worth it for me.
Oh, and is there anyway for the banner to be smaller? I'd love to add it in, but I realized it makes me go over my signature height limit

I just thought of something... what happens if this causes a big strain of the server? A couple of people on Dragon Cave decided to do something like this back in October, and the whole site went down for a couple of days because of the huge drop. Maybe it should be fixed that the whole weekend is ok to drop, instead of a certain time on one day... I'm just saying...

4 times a year sounds about right to me, since as you said...
But with each time, I'd imagine more people would be on GPX or willing to join the next time around.
The 30th now, huh? How late till the due date can we sign up? I have Pichu I'll donate now too, but I really can't say whether I'll be on... So rather than signing up and missing out, can I just sign up close to the date? Like the 29th?

Honestly, I got no idea what I'd release, but I'll give it a bit of a go as well. Someone had released a Charmander, and I can't be more thankful! As I'm dedicated to my Skitty army, xD so hatching other eggs really doesn't happen that often for me.
But I'm more than happy to give up some of the Pokemon I don't particularly have a fondness for!

Actually, that sounds like a great idea. It should cut down on the strain on the server, plus this way you wouldn't have TOO much choas but the pairs could plan a very convient time for themselves. This also means that time zones can pair up, so that no one particular group of people who get on at a certain time, should be more flooded then the others.

Which do you think would be better? Stick to the plan of everyone doing it on Saturday, or space it out over a few days with seperate groups? I've accepted the position of PMing everyone, but I hadn't gotten a confirmation that we were doing the Saturday drop or the multiple group drops.
So who knows? If I don't hear anything Saturday, I'll send out PMs to everyone that there is now no official time. But I'll wait and see if the other two organizers contact me first.

I've got my Seviper breeding for you. Can't say for certain that one will come out though - she doesn't seem to get on too well with Bagon.
Admittedly though, I realised I want to hold onto my Torkoal. I am willing to release my older Skarmory though, since I decided literally today I want a shiny one. I really wish I could release more into this, but some part of me wants to hold on to them.
Saturday does sound good, I suppose. It does restrict people in what Pokemon they retrieve from the shelter, so I guess it's fairer that way. It would be hilarious to watch though

Hmm, it looks like most everyone is going to do Saturday anyways. I'm just worried about the concerns brought up earlier, about accidentally crashing the cite if we do cause too much chaos and people spamming into the Shelter for pokemon.

Things on the orginization end kinda fell apart, and I just haven't had the time to PM everyone about trying to get it all together... So yeah anytime you want

From what I have heard alot of people released theres right during the roll over. I saw several people get some, and saw a few bouncing around myself. I released only a few of mine so far, and will be releasing the rest during the day.\

Yup, I released mine around the reset along with Neverland. Mine included Gible, Chikorita, LOTS of Mudkip, and an unbelievably large amount of other things. It bumped my abandons from 24 to 70.

OMG, I snagged a Porygon! I've been searching for one FOREVER. (And Talasia, I noticed that you're breeding Porygon, but for some reason I've never managed to find any in the shelter xDD) Now, if only I can find another pokemon from the same group or a Ditto from the lab...
