Team Awesome

Its not easy telling what sex the Pokčmon in the anime are. I have yet to see any gender differences being shown. The dub may sometimes refer to certain Pokčmon as "he", but note that the Japanese language doesn't work that way, so it may easily be a slip (and constantly calling them "it" may sound strange to us)

No fighting please. If people don't agree with you just leave it at that. Also please include a reason for why you believe this.
These are theories. So it doesn't have to be true.

My 4 cents:

Ash's Pokčmon:
Pikachu- I think its male. Most of the signs seem to point at that, and its referred to as male in the dub. Also Buneary fell for him, and I can't thing of that one as anything but female. (There was more I just can't remember them right now).
Squirtle- Male.. With that attitude...it'd be strange if it was female IMO:B
Tauros- If they're female somethings not quite right here.
Butterfee- Male. Please don't tell me the Pink one isn't a girl..
Buizel- Bulbapedia calls him male, so I'm not sure just when this was stated. But even if it wasn't I would assume so, loving battles and hating contests sounds more masculine... as opposed to Aipom who's confirmed female and likes contests.

Brock's Pokčmon:
Vulpix- Female. Being a bit different here now:B Vulpix seem to care more about its fur than most other Pokčmon since it is often seen being groomed. True this may be due to its upbringing but hey...I've called everyone above male :p There has to be some females on the team (yeah yeah I know...Aipom, didn't mention that because its confirmed female)
Happiny: As with Tauros (only opposite) Happiny are all female.

Team Rocket
Meowth: Aw come on. Its obviously female. :p You know with the having a crush on a Meowth called Meowzie and all......er.....

So what do you guys think? grin.gif

Ash's Totodile = Male, for having a crush on that one Azumarill. Misty also compared it to Brock once, for chasing after girls.
Brock's Ludicolo = Male, for liking a Mawile that I am about 99% certain was female (twirling ribbons and all)

May's Venusaur is female because there's a seed in the flower of Venusaur.

Dawn's Piplup a dude. Yeah, it might wear a cheer dress, but he is 100% man. Why, you ask?

1. Let's take a look at today's Japanese episode. Piplup and an Elekid (which are 75% male) fall for a Marill (50% on Both male and female). You do that math.
2.Next, 87.5 % of Piplups are male. You do this math too.
3. Lastly, in the episode "The Thief That Keeps on Thieving!", the one where Jessie gets her Yanmega, the newbie kid named Tyler got a Piplup as his starter. His Piplup wore a tiara, a girl thing, and Tyler's Piplup's voice was higher pitch than Dawn's Piplup's voice. And girl's voices are higher pitched then males.

I rest my case.

Ash's Charizard: Male.
Reason why? Charla (that female Charizard from the Charisific Valley, the one with the pink bow) has a huge crush on him. It was shown in that one episode when he fought Dragonite, she got all cuddly with him.

Ash's Pikachu: Male.
Why? Ehh... mostly stereotypical reasons. Mainly because he and Ash are best friends and when it comes to Japan, they usually keep best friends between the same sexes, fictional wise.

Q-Ts

I destroy sterotypes. =V These are just some Pokemon I can recall from the series.

Pikachu: Boy... or, you know, hermaphrodite. wink.gif I say hermaphrodite because, if I remember right, all of the pokemon were genderless in the original games. Boy because, frankly, it seems to always be shown as one.
Totodile: I personally thought of this one as a chick. So hyper and bubbly... just reminds me of a cross between Action Girl and the Ditz. Am I the only one that thinks that it sounds a bit feminine as well?
Butterfree: It could be a chick and just be into les... whaaat? >_> I'm gonna say boy, just because I always thought of Butterfree as a boy, pink Butterfree or no.
Charmander: Chick... just strikes me as one. From goody-two-shoes innocent-girl to anime-b*tch to lazy, sarcastic girl. I'm too lazy to find the actual trope names.
Squirtle: Boy. Ganster/leader/macho man attitude.
Bulbasuar: GIRL. DEFINITELY A GIRL. ... Ok, a boy. >_> Protective and such... just seems to be a typical trait in these sorts of things. facepalm.gif
Gligar: Because she evolves the same way Ash's other "female" pokemon evolved, and her stinger is smaller than her claw (thanks, Charri!), it's probably a chick. Either gender is adorable, though. This one is darn near close enough to be "confirmed".
Krabby: Girl... much tinier than Gary's. Though, I don't know, Gary's could just be a giant giant and Krabby could be a runt.

Meowth: Boy (yes, I support MeowthxPikachu, why do you ask?)
Arbok: Girl. Just seems rather feminine to me, especially when you see the episode where they're lost on the island.
Weezing: Boy. Seems more masculine, with the voice and such.
Seviper: Girl. The voice sounds rather feminine and the eyes do seem rather "evil seductive lady" type.
Cacnea: Girl. The voice and it's always wanting to hug. CUDDLE MEH.
Wobuffet: Boy... though this is really just a hazard guess.

That's all off the top of my head. :|

Comfirmed from the anime episode "Where No Togepi Has Gone Before!"

Dawn's Piplup = Boy
Ash's Pikachu = Boy
Brock's Crogunk = Boy
Meowth = Boy
Jessie's Yanmega = Girl
Jessie's Wobuffet = Boy

I NEVER would have expected Piplup to be a boy 0.o

Fave Pokes~

in Another one Gabites the dust, if you look closely at one scene, Dawn's pachirisu sports some very...feminine eyelashes.
I'm not saying it's concrete proof, since it wouldn't be the first time a male character sported eyelashes.

but I saw the same thing with Johanna's Umbreon, so maybe her Glameow is male? they both used Attract on Pachirisu and Piplup, so if you assume Umbreon and pachirisu are female, and Piplup is male, then Glameow would be male, too.

maybe I'm overthinking this.
