Is this for battling the NPCs or other users? For NPCs having a Ferrothorn or a Steelix with be massively helpful. You should perhaps consider checking the available moves rather then the pokémon though, since any pokémon can win or lose, but being prepared i.e using amnesia etc or swords dance will be the make or break for most battles. As for battles against other users, there are no 'good' battle teams, if you mean purely for attack and defence then powerhouses will get what you want but as i said before, preparation will significantly improve your cases over pokémon.

Additionally, battles are easier if your Pokemon have high IV's. A total of ~100 per Pokemon is usually okay-ish. I like to have at least ~120 each, and if you're willing to sink months into the effort, having 150+ each will make your team a complete powerhouse.
Half-Steel-types are good for defensive powerhouses, but if you're looking for an offensive Pokemon it's probably best to have a single-typed Pokemon so it has access to Strong-power attacks. -------------------- |

Just a tip but if you want a good pokemon then use a fighting type with high iv's that is only fighting like Machamp and have them have the 1 strong physical type, sword dance, leftovers,Iron Defense, and any other move you want that it can have or from a gem.
There are gems for each type but a pokemon can hold each one. They can not have one their type is weak too so a Ferrthorn can not have a fire gem. This post has been edited by Mizuki Himeji: Feb 11 2012, 08:03 PM -------------------- |

Take a look at the Total Stats listing on here
It'll help. That's how I got my team if you want to do well, I'd advise getting a few fast special attackers. A couple of defences and make sure you type advantage with gems. Oh and throw a few different moves in. I.e Psych Up, Haze etc. if you're facing a Ferrothorn, Psych Up and Haze can be really really handy -------------------- Don't forget to love yourself.
