Hello all! I've been extremely busy between being a new father and now a new homeowner, so I apologize if I haven't been as active lately, and for the brevity of this post.

First of all, to those who observe it, Hanukkah Sameach!

This evening is the start of Hanukkah, which ends in the evening of December 6th. Normally we have our Hanukkah event overlap it, but because it begins before December, I hope everyone is OK with it being delayed a few days.

I have two main reasons for this: 1) the SWSH is wrapping up, so everyone is focusing on Deerling; 2) we promised that the prize shop from the last event would remain active through the end of November.

With that in mind, the Hanukkah event will begin December 1st and run through December 12th, giving it 12 days like previous years. It will use the new event system, with the prize shop available to everyone, rather than the leaderboard-style of previous years. The dreidel will be active, so besides earning a coin for nearly every event Pokémon you hatch, you will be able to gamble your coins before spending them for a chance at winning more. You will also earn 15 coins for each Scavenger Hunt task completed.

For this year, since it is a Festival of Lights, the theme will be some Pokémon that glow in some way.

The Hanukkah event

• Begins: Tuesday, November 30th at 11:55pm EST (site reset), which is two nights after Hanukkah begins.
• Ends: Sunday, December 12th at 11:55pm EST (site reset), which is six nights after Hanukkah ends.

We may add more on to this list before or after the event begins.

Scavenger Hunt
This month's Scavenger Hunt will also begin on Tuesday, November 30th at 11:55pm EST (site reset) and will end on Wednesday, December 15th at 11:55pm EST (site reset), but you'll only earn 15 coins for completing a task until the Hanukkah event ends (see above end date and time). So for December, the hunt will run in the first half of the month, starting immediately after this month's SWSH ends.

Explorations
The two Christmas explorations, "The Twelve Days of Christmas" and "Secret of Christmas", have always been activated and will run through the end of the month, unless we continue to forget to disable them.

Secret Santa Exchange
Deposits will be open sometime on Wednesday the 22nd and will last thru Saturday the 25th, with the exchange itself happening after reset. I will post additional information around that time, but it'll work about the same as https://forums.gpx.plus/index.php?showtopic=74512.

New Year's Raffle
This will work the same as always: you'll have a day to be as active as possible, and for every 2022 points of Activity Score earned, you'll get one entry. We'll then distribute a certain number of prizes (be it a voucher for a new Pokémon, or something else ... tbd), and you'll have a chance to get one based on the number of entries you earned (you are not guaranteed a prize, regardless of how many entries you earned). More information will come as we near the end of the month.

Oh dang, this looks like it should be a fun month for the site! Hopefully I can get settled in enough for the month to just have a good solid week between new years and Christmas to go crazy!

According to what staff said during the Halloween event, coins will always be reset to zero between one event's end and the next one's start.

Ohhh... See, I saved up some extra Shinies when I was active on here like 8 years ago, but when I came back to the site last month, I couldn't recall why I had kept them so I released them. Reading this now, I finally remembered that I was saving them for Secret Santa events, lol. Oh well. I can probably find some extra Shinies before the next Secret Santa, lol.

Now if only it would give me more than two coins whenever I hatch 4 pokemon. I got four pokemon on the list, they hatch and all I get is 2 coins. Is that normal?

I know your pain; the dreidel spent like three days not giving me anything. Finally got on a good luck streak yesterday. It's been so hard to put in playtime just in general, because work has demanded ton of my attention (yay promotions!). I finally managed to get the vouchers I was aiming for today though!

Speaking of the Dreidel though - Zerx, a weird...bug? maybe?

So I spent a ton of my points today. At this moment of writing this I have 13. But when I go to the Dreidel, it doesn't seem to register that I used those points and says I have a net gain of 139 coins. And I can bet with, like, 20. Not sure I should be able to do that xD

Aw man, ended the egg event with 983 coins outta 1000. . . Still a good number!
I had some decent luck with the dreidel, I see. I got mostly gimel. At first I even thought it might've been weighted to favor the profitable options to make things easier. but I see that's probably not the case.
Good news is I got a spare shiny to use for Secret Santa! I'm looking forward to all this other fun stuff the month will bring!

Quick question: if someone were to submit an (non-Xerneas) egg they bought via the Event Shop for Secret Santa, it would be classified as an Exploration Legendary, right? I ask since I know that Summonable Legendaries are classified differently and I noticed all the Legendary eggs currently available in the Event Shop (sans Xerneas) are usually obtained via Explorations.

The three legendary categories are summonables, unsummonables, and Ultra Beasts. From the current event shop, Xerneas, Suicune, Regice, Kyurem and Articuno would all be unsummonables, Nihilego is a UB, and I believe Manaphy is typically not permitted to be submitted in Secret Santas because it can't easily be placed in a category.

Explorations don't come into the matter at all; it doesn't matter whether or not a legendary is (currently) obtained by exploration, since several unsummonables don't have explorations yet but will presumably eventually get them.

I've deposited my Shiny Legend and bookmarked the page to see who it goes to. I'm happy that Pokemon that were part of an exchange in the past are allowed again this year; the Pokemon I set aside for last year's exchange (but didn't qualify) can be used this year.

I had a slightly more complicated method of keeping track of my submitted mon (an Extra Shiny from the Baby event earlier this year). I shoved it into the Vs Seeker for one battle, and I can get to its summary page from my Vs Seeker history.

New Year's Raffle

For every 2022 points in your Activity Score TODAY, you will earn 1 entry in to the Raffle. If your Activity Score ends up being 10,110 then you will have 5 entries, etc. There's never a cap on entries, but even having just 1 entry is enough to potentially win something.

This is for your Activity Score on New Year's Eve, meaning the event has already started.

The Raffle itself will then run at some point on New Year's Day, so at some point after 24 hours from this moment.

The Raffle prizes will be similar to previous years, in that there will be different voucher types, in various quantities. It may not be the exact same as last year (such as the voucher for a Sh. Poipole), but here's the info from two years ago:

Remember, all of this is just for fun -- please don't overwork yourself or choose us over your family, if they are hoping to spend the holiday with you. Of course, that's entirely your decision.

It's a little fun to see the little spike in people viewing the topic immediately after midnight rolled around in the East Coast timezone. This includes me, of course. Hello!! Happy New Year! We're all impatient and excited! It's nice to see!

I hope my extremely crummy luck summoning a legendary today balances out with some luck in the raffle. . . Does 19 entries sound okay? :P (I was trying to bump up my score and maybe get the Consolation Prize achievement if I failed since it's a high multiplier day for a legendary I already have. . . but I saw a shiny of the same species later that day that was summoned at seemingly the same time I did it by "someone else". . . orz Ah well. New achievement just for this purpose. . .)

Happy New Years, Everybody. I did a bit of clicking today but, with the wet weather and viral illness in the household, I just hung back myself as well.

Thank you for an incredible year, GPX team! I don't know what these next 12 months will look like, but hopefully we'll all find (and feel) a bit more shiny.

For now, I'm retiring early and missing another stroke of midnight year turn.

My goal was to get 250k in activity and I actually managed it. Next year though, I think I'll try to prepare ahead of time. There were definitely some tricks I could have implemented for a quicker boost.

On an even brighter side, I managed to finish two shiny hunts! And a third shortly after reset.

New Year's Raffle:

As originally mentioned, for every 2022 activity score you had yesterday, you earned 1 entry into the raffle. There were 395 eligible users, and 205 voucher prizes went out. Given that it's a raffle, a prize is not guaranteed (nor is the rarity of the prize), you simply increase your chances by having more entries.

Here's the list of prizes that went out:

• 5 - Sh. Legend Voucher Plus
• 10 - Sh. Otherworldly Voucher (any shiny Ultra Beast)
• 15 - Sh. Glastrier Voucher
• 25 - Sh. Novelty Voucher
• 50 - Sh. Voucher Plus (for all non-Legendary, non-Novelty Pokémon)
• 100 - Legend Voucher Plus

The first number is how many of that prize were distributed, and nothing to do with your number of entries. Someone with just 1 entry, and someone with 250 entries, were both eligible for up to one of the prizes.

As you can see, Glastrier is now available! Thanks to LightKunai for spriting it. It is now available in the Legend Voucher Plus (the Sh. one too).

Bonus prize! Everyone who participated and earned at least 1 entry (a minimum of 2022 activity score) received up to 15 https://gpx.plus/scratch-cards (1 per entry, max of 15)!

For example, getting a shiny Miltank egg to corrupt it to be a shiny Chocolate Miltank?

I got one of the Sh. Legend Voucher Pluses! Honestly kinda shocked right now considering I didn't have a ton of time to get activity yesterday, and I'm not quite sure what to use it on at this point considering I've got two of these vouchers now. Maybe Spectrier and Glastrier?

Personally, I'd go for the corrupted shiny, but I don't know if that's the "better" option here, I'm not an expert.

The way I see it, Unown are tedious to get, but you can get them consistently the same way over and over. It just takes a lot of time and effort, one egg at a time. To get a Shiny Chocolate Miltank egg normally, you'd have to buy tons of items to corrupt every egg you find because you don't know which egg might end up shiny and you can't corrupt it later, and that's very expensive... but I'm not too familiar with the intricacies of the site, so don't take my word for it. I might be missing something.

Does anyone with experience with one or the other have any more educated advice?

Worst case scenario, I'm sure there will be plenty more opportunities to try getting another shiny voucher! ^^;

I managed to get a legend voucher plus this year despite my small amount of entries (I don't think I'll ever be as lucky with this as the year I got one of the shiny Poipole vouchers LOL). I went ahead and used it to get a Glastrier, and I can't wait to see what the sprite looks like!

Chocolate Miltank is a bad choice because it's breedable. If you want something "rare", I'd personally pick Ditto. Or if you want to corrupt an egg, Pidgey.

Also, Spectrumspace, I'd recommend just... summoning the shiny you want more, that way you know you won't regret it There will be other chances to get shiny vouchers, so go with your heart on this.

I got a Shiny Otherworldly Voucher... which I will save until it is the last one I need to complete that group. Basically, I will likely not ever reach that point but it will be sweet if it happens.

I like the idea of Shiny Unown collection but it is honestly impractical to consider. Until one has enough Sh. Vouchers collected... Only another couple dozen events! Hmm. Not sure how I feel about that as too east or still too absurd. But hey, whatever is most fun is the advice I always get when I ask my RL trainer.

Oh, right, you can breed certain corrupted novelties. I forgot. Thanks for that clarification. ^^; I knew there was something missing. I guess Unown would be the practical first choice then, yeah.

As for choosing the Ultra Beast I like best... that's kinda my problem! I like a lot of them... Poipole, Nihilego, and Celesteela... We'll see what I go with! I have all the time in the world.

This is basically what I'm planning for my shiny vouchers; that way, I don't accidentally get a double of one I already have. I'm currently sitting on eleven of the twenty-six vouchers I need (Luckily, I was able to go ham and rack up eight vouchers during last year's Valentine's Day event; that was a good time), so I'm almost halfway there.

In other news, I managed to get myself a Sh. Glastrier voucher; it would've been fun to hatch it on my birthday two days ago, but not much to be done when a fiber optics cabinet catches fire and knocks out the internet for three days.
