I liked Noctowl from Joto, he didn't use it much but it was still cool. Atleast I think it was in Joto that he had Noctowl...

I dunno, I think Charizard and Primeape are pretty classic.
They gave trainers a total visual to the "your pokemon is not listening to you!" aspect of the game. XD

I agree the Noctowl from Johto was cool...since it was a rare shiny

But my favorite would have to be Charmander/charizard...he was the badass who evolved for personal gain.. and then blew off Ash as long as possible haha

Everything that actually evolved, instead of keeping it level 9999 at the first stage (I'm looking at YOU, Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and everything else non-evolved but still uber enough).

But my favorite is Charizard because it had the kickass Seismic Toss.

Muk was pretty epic. So was Primeape. And I always loved Charizard.

Charizard was definately the best. But then he goes to some all charizard place and just leaves it there, then runs away basically, crying.

But even though he still has his pikachu, the episode where he nearly got rid of it was definately the saddest. Pickachu ftw!

And when the hell is Ash going to get his Pigeot back! He promised it he would come back for it one day, how many series has it been? It has gotten to the point that IF he went back for it no one would understand how he got it. (Not to mention the darn thing would ask WTF happened to his master's voice, but that is another thread)

Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charizard (Remember when they were all hugging together inside the cave. Plus, they are the best, best teamwork and everything). But Chikorita and Totodile are classic too. I loved how Chikorita loved Ash and how Totodile is like the pokemon form of Brock.

I loved when Ash had Squirtle and Bulbasaur... His Chikorita was pretty funny, too. I'd probably have to go with Charizard though, simply for the fact that they'd been through a lot and it was nice to see the evolution (haha) of trust between the two.

I really liked Ash's Aipom and I don't understand why he traded it or why Aipom agreed. At least it's still in the animé though.

I really liked Totodile, but I really think it should have been Misty's. Oh well. =P
Chikorita was also adorable, as was Lapras.

Oh, and Gligar shouldn't have evolved so soon. Gligar is lovely.
Buizel is rather amazing, but Dawn really needs it back soon.

Oh... Now that's a hard one.

If we stuck strictly to one single favourite, I'd have to give it to Charizard. As overrated as that thing can be, it deserves all the attention it's gotten. Charizard had the attitude, the looks, the power, and the moves. It's still one of Ash's best Pokemon to date, and probably the one I cheer for the most when it pops back into the series for random cameos. You just know when Charizard's around that things are gonna get heated. The way it popped out of nowhere'd to save Ash in the 3rd movie? I was GIDDY. So much to the point that I still somewhat remember my excitement watching that scene and it's been years since I first saw it in theaters... XD

Easy runners up would be Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Pidgeot ^^;

Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander. The Pokemon Ash has in the early episodes are one of the few things I actually prefer to the new episodes. I love all the anime, but I just prefer the new ones in most way. ^^

But its the anime that made Pikachu my favourite.

I liked his Pidgeot. Birds are some of what I find to be the best 'mon he's had. Staravia and Swellow are just cheap knockoffs, and Swellow didn't really have any personality. ._.

Charizard, hands down. He's got more depth than most of the human characters by now, seriously.

And that's closely followed by Pikachu (seems overrated most of the time, but THEN HE DOES SOMETHING AWESOME AND CUTE and I fall in love with him again), and Grovyle/Sceptile (so much attitude). I loved his Johto starters as well, and of course, Squirtle and Bulbasaur are classic. I'll never forget Butterfree and Pidgeot. :'c

KendoSword: It's sad that Swellow didn't get too many opportunities to shine, really, but to be fair, I don't think Pidgeot had a lot either. At least Taillow, in his capture episode, was really interesting in that he never gave up, which made him appealing in the first place. Kinda like Ash himself. XD

Edit: OH YEAH. Heracross and Bulbasaur? So freaking hilarious, and also kind of PG-13 when you think about it, ahahaha.

I always liked Ash's Charizard!!....but I really really liked his Pidgeot....excuse me I loved that Pidgeotto that he got in the first episode. (sometimes it annoys me that he gets a NEW flying in every season xD not that I'm against it)

Butterfree was another favorite...god I cried in that episode.
I also liked the Haunter that joined even for the small time!!
Chikorita...does he use Corphish anymore?...Muk, the great I want a hug pokemon...oh and not forgetting about Ash's Snorlax....*goes on*

I actually liked the episode where everyone fights over Togepi...Togepi was acually Ash's for a few seconds, until it chose Misty. xD Then, Charizard is cool, mostly (for me) because it saved Ash and Pikachu in the 3rd movie. Epic battle! xDD

I loved how Charmander was stubborn enough to completely ignore Ash, even after he had tried to help it.
At first I had thought it was a punk (but that was when I was like... eight). Then as it evolved, I fell in love with it.

Gliscor/Gligar. That guy had CHARACTER. I wish Ash hadn't gotten rid of him so quickly.

Ash: You can do it, Gligar! Just believe in yourself!
Gligar: Nope, nope, nope, your face is safe. *dives for facehug*
Ash: AGH! I hate this pokemon!

And when he got rid of it... the creators really tried to make it a sad scene, what with the flashbacks (Remember when I broke your neck? Again? And again? Good times...), the tears (from Gliscor, at least), and the sad music, but... Ash's small, eager smile really ruined the moment.

Is it sad that out of all of his pokemon, I feel the most like Gligar/Gliscor? Clingy and cowardly. >_>


Charmander was pretty good, too. It went from so very sweet and loyal to... my god. >_>

Charizard is, without a doubt, awesome. Even though he ended up getting a gible because of it, I am still upset that Ash let Gliscor go, largely because he had real potential to be like charizard. Haunter- Oh, man, I still watch The Tower Of Terror every so often, and it cracks me up every time. I'd love to see another ghost pokemon do that soul thing, preferrebly not to Ash, so he could end up going WTH?

Oh, gosh. There are so many of them.

Charizard's definitely on my list of favourites for the way he acted from the time he was a Charmander to the present, it's like a representation of child, to rebelling adolescent, to adult when Ash finally earned its trust. :D

Bayleef was awesome! Not only was it cute, but the way it just loved getting Ash's affections was hilarious!

Totodile was hilarious with his super hyperactivity that made me laugh every single time! XD

Gible and his draco meteor = awesomeness. Especially how it keeps hitting Dawn's Piplup EVERY single time. XD

Sceptile was cool, especially in the fight against May's Blaziken.

And Pikachu is just classic awesome. :D

The list just goes on, but I think I'll just stop here for now. :)

Charizard was just plain awesome, it definatly gave you a perspective that not pokemon all are obedient, like Pikachu or something.
Totodile was hilarious, at least I thought so. Now, I can never see Totodile the say way, ever again xD All I can do is imagine them dancing.
And Grovyle/Secptile, it's awesome. They went through so much, plus it's one of the few pokemon that Ash evolved >3>;

Oh there are alot...

I enjoy Snorlax because I think he had the most interesting capture episode PLUS he's always Ash's goto powerhouse Pokemon.

I also like Kingler because it was a big deal when Ash got his 7th Pokemon, Krabby, then he forgot about it for 62 episodes only until the Pokemon League where it owned despite it's type advantages and evolved despite being its first battle.

Heracross, Glalie, and Noctowl were cool because... they are cool Pokemon imo.

Here's my faves:

Charizard-Just cool. I wanna ride on one too.

Snorunt/Aipom-Anything that can steal Ash's hat and almost get away with it is adorable IMO. Plus, I felt bad for Aipom since it got that crown stuck on his head and Snorunt was cute because it was always accidently freezing people. :P

Chikorita/Bayleef-It was so cute how it was always trying to get his attention and that it didn't realize its own strength.

Then there's Grovyle/Sceptile...the list goes on.

for me, I think Bulbasaur was the awesome Pokemon that ash ever had, and among the three kanto starters, only bulbasaur stayed with him in the midway of johto, until the episode bulbasaur.. the grass ambassador comes up and let bulbasaur stayed with prof. oak to stop a war between grass and water pokemons.. i also like ash's gliscor because of it's childish acts despite the fact that gliscor is a fully evolved pokemon..

I always loved his Aipom. I loved how it always took his hat lol. I think he traded it to Dawn and she let it stay with a pokemon ping pong trainer because it loved to play. I also had a soft spot for his caterpie my favorite seen was when it and pikachu where on the log talking so cute.

Why did he give it back!?

Strangely enough, this Raticate was also the only Pokemon that nearly killed another Pokemon... (by biting right through Starmie's crystal core)

Well, I liked Corphish because of it's personality.
Infernape because of it's past.
Snivy because she's like the pacifier of the group.
Bayleef because of her cute attraction to Ash.
Totodile's jovial personality.
Squirtle.
Bulbasaur. He's also like a pacifier.
Muk makes me laugh.
Snorlax is actually a hard worker, especially in the Battle Frontier.
Gliscor is so quirky.
Turtwig was also like a pacifier, but with less patience.
Torkoal was so... emotional. Anything could make it cry.
Heracross was a tough but kind of bashful bug.
Tepig. I always thought he was cute, even though he's a Pignite now.
Roggenrola. I also find it cute. Don't know much about it after it evolved into Boldore though.
Scraggy is a tough little thing, but also friendly. Especially toward Axew.

I think that's it for now. I like others, but this is all I can really think of at the moment.

Charmeleon was a rebellious teenager, disobeying his master and eventually evolving for his own will, to defeat Aerodactyl.
Charizard was again, a rebellious young adult, but eventually grew to respect Ash, like young adults grow to respect their parents.

Hard choice between Bulbasaur, Charizard and Squirtle. If I had to choose, though it would be bulbasaur.
