So, I'm in the process of getting a new server for GTSPlus and the other sites I host, which will be online later on this week, on either the 19th (Thursday) or the 20th (Friday). Once it's online, there'll be some downtime while I transfer everything over and set it up. I do not know how long it will be, to be perfectly honest, but I'll be sure to send out a bulk email or something when everything's all back up, or something.
I'll mention this now, since I'm sure it'll be a common question once the site's back online again - once the transfer's complete, and everything's set up again, if you have trouble accessing the site, it's possible it's an issue with your computer's DNS cache - it could still be resolving the domain name to the old IP address, as opposed to the new one. After the transfer is complete, I'd advise that you clear your DNS cache, and if you still have problems, also reset any router that you're behind. It also takes time for the changes to take effect, so that's also a possibility as well. And for those of you who're interested, the new server will have a Intel Nehalem Core i7 920 2.66 GHz processor, 12 GB RAM, and two hard drives, one of 500 GB and one of 320 GB, as opposed to the present Intel Core 2 Quad 2.83 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM and three hard drives, of 80 GB, 80 GB and 160 GB. Well congratulations. When this place started I certainly didn't imagine you needing to get a new server of that calibur, but you proved me wrong. :P
I won't mind the wait, as long as it makes GTS+ better/more managerial for you guys. Good luck. |

Not really sure what those numbers mean in relation to serves, but they're a lot bigger than the old ones so this should be good
 Quick question, does this mean things will be faster, (not that they really need to be), or is it just to cope with GPX+ when it goes back online? --------------------  |

Things should be faster but it's also mostly to try and handle GPXPlus.

While we're paying about the same as before, donations are still welcome as whatever the ad revenue doesn't cover (and it usually doesn't cover much), BaS always pays for out of his own pocket, and has since we ever started using our own hosting. Just an update, the new server won't be up till tomorrow (today, I guess...), the 20th, so depending on what I do tomorrow, and when I have access to it, the move may not end up starting till Saturday evening after I'm done work.

Hahahahaha, I come bearing bad and considerably better news.
The bad news is that they were actually sold out of the processor I ordered, which is why it wasn't set up last week. The good news, though, is that they're giving me a considerably better one for the same price now because of this. I've been told the server will be set up later on tonight, so the majority of the transfer will probably take place tomorrow.
