First and foremost, I apoligize if a topic like this has already beeen made.
Second, I prefer to EV train my Pokemon and battle online post E4 because it's fun and I love seeing other people's strategies.
I do jack all with IVs but I do EV train for the most part. EV training is pretty easy, it's just IV breeding is tedious as shit.
yea i go for speed IVs at best with, for legendaries, passable atk/whatever else they need (so sometimes... not atk). passable meaning 20+
I do casual fun battling, though occasionally I EV train. I don't worry about Natures or IVs though.
I do casual until I'm done the E4 and all of the other main and post-main story stuff, then I do EV training for competitive battling, although I haven't really done either EV training or competitive battling in a long time.
I hack pokemon to go competitive, the game's stopped being fun after it cheated on me countless times.
In-game runs, I don't worry about it too much, though I check to satisfy my curiosity.
For anything competitive (including that accursed Battle Subway) I nature/IV breed and EV train. Absolutely necessary.
I honestly don't get the whole IV/EV stuff, it's really complicated for me. I just play to catch, train, breed, and have fun. I get attached to my Pokemon when I first catch or breed them. I don't like being picky about which nature or stats they have. As long as they all can get the same moves then I'm fine with them.
Hmmm... Well I hacked the game soo...IDK
Usually I prefer just playing casually. People tell me that EV training only takes an hour or two, but for me it can take days or weeks, so usually unless I'm forming a specific competitive team, I usually don't bother. I take forever to get through the Pokemon games as it is.
I mostly do casual play, since I rarely ever battle online, and that EVs and IVs are too complicated for me.
I prefer to spend my time catching Pokemon.
i usually don't bother with IVs, unless it's my platinum version.
my hydreigon probably has scattered IVs, i haven't checked yet.
but yes, i do EV train.
Usually, I don't EV train; I'm just playing the game for fun. But when I leveled up my Golurk, Riser to 100, I EV trained the heck outta him. He fought anything and everything that boost Attack. He's the first I've ever made an effort to EV train and I didn't do it for competitive battling. I did it because I just wanted him to be the best Golurk possible. (I do love my giant dirt robot.)
In game: I pay attention to natures. If I want to use something with high Speed and Attack, I make sure the nature isn't detrimental to Speed and Attack. That's all.
Competitively: I breed for natures and EV train. IVs.. sometimes if I'm breeding and I get two Pokemon with the same nature, I'll pick the one with the better stats if it's visible 'xD Just the other day, I hatched three Impish Duskull in the same batch.. one had a defense of 7, and the other two had 6, so I chose the first one. But, other than that, I ignore IVs. They can be just as painful as the ones they jab in your arm at the hospital.
I didn't mention this earlier, but I actually do breed for IVs, nature, ability etc. It's usually worth it in the end. Although, once I learned how to RNG, it got much easier.
Casual. I just like to catch and breed and level up as high as possible without getting picky with stats.
Casual (in what extent one could call it casual). I don't have much interest in IVs and EVs (until recently, I didn't even know what that is) and it's not the kind of thing that would be much fun to me. And the good old grind always worked well, so far.
I would think more about IVs/Evs, if I'd play online, but since I don't do that...
Casual play lol
I mainly look for good natures. IVs I really dont care about, but sometimes I will do a bit of EV "training" (as in cheat to max out IVs, but not go over the legal limit)
I dont battle other people so I have no shame in doing it :p
EV's IV's everything. Competitive pokemon takes up about a quarter of my life right now.
In game has become too easy for me, so i've gotten into the habit of looking up challenges to make it more difficult. I have to be careful to stick to the rules though :/
and... YES I'M A NERD!!! I WILL RULE THE WORLD ALONG WITH MY BRETHREN!
I do casual play, but I did EV train before the Elite 4 in HG.
I keep telling myself to try it, but my black game freezes up to much!
Casual Play for the most part, After beating the E4 i just catch Pokemon and look for items i may have missed through the initial play through
I do competitive battling, but only on simulators. I play casually on the games.
When i first go through the game, I don't worry about natures, EVs, etc. Once I beat it (and to keep me playing), I make mock competitive teams that I use for mainly the Battle Frontier/Subway, but I only worry about Natures and EVs (I don't worry about IVs really).
Hm, it seems like most people prefer casual or EVing without care of IVs...well, that's the way the game was intended to play in the first place XD
Casual play until I complete the game.
Everything I do is just for casual play. First, I'll beat the main storyline where I don't worry about EV's, but I usually try to get a decent nature. Then, I will sometimes do EV training, if I ever feel like it. Breeding for IV's is just tedious and not worth my time. I'll also breed for moves and such. But I never do competitive battling; it's just never interested me. The only thing I will do that is more of a competitive a nature is the battle subway. The higher up you go the more of a "competitive-type" team you need to beat those haxing AI's. XD
Only after everything. Like the E4 etc. I pretty much gave up on IVs. Gamefreak made iV breeding so tedious and I don't know why would ANYBODY bother with breeding it. It's pretty much twisted if you ask me. But yes, I do EV train and I do take note of my nature. Thats something I can actually control so...
I'm sort of a mix.
I do IV and EV train but only for special occasions like Wi-Fi tourneys.
I mostly just play through the games multiple times using different Pokemon, trying them out, seeing what they can do. I do search for Natures and sometimes IVs, but I extremely rarely EV train them (I did only twice, with a Chansey and Snorunt with Max HP and Speed respectively)
I do casual when I play through the game without trading stuff but I still reset for natures though.
Casual. I usually can't be bothered with EV training.
if i haven't beaten the game, i don't give a crap for the most part, the only exception is legendaries, those i IV check and nature check upon capture.
i've done a bit of IV breeding, it's not so bad... if you could check accourately the IV's at low levels , ev training is easy enough.
that said, i'm totally hacking a pokemon for which i need a hidden power, hitting all IV's exactly, with a nature? no thanks i also made a hacked 31-all ditto, which makes it easier to iv breed.
For the most part, I play for fun. Only recently have I attempted to start ANYTHING competitive.
Iv's forget it. Generally, i try to get the best nature im willing to accept :P
abilities for me are a must though
I EV train to the max.. And care a lot about IVs.. If the guy beside the PC in Battle Frontier says my Pokémon's stat is either "decent" or "above average" I immediately release them. It's for the best. More space for my new super bred Pokémon... But I do it because I like it, sadly. I feel like I'm wasting my time, if I train a Pokémon without good IVs. <-- You see the irony?
I also care quite a lot about Natures. If the Pokémon doesn't have the desired nature but good IVs, either "trade" or "release".
Though, with Nuzlockes nothing matters. So, that's mainly the only time I'll just do whatever and screw the EV-training and nature.
I prefer to battle online with strangers on Battle Revolution. It's so much more fun than on the DS!
Casual play, I don't really battle for competitiveness.
I'm more casual; IV's and EV's confuse the crap out of me. I've thought of at least attempting EV training a few times and trying to go a little competitive, but keep turning it down because I'm afraid it'll take over a part of my life that doesn't need to be taken over.
Most of the competitive battlers I've seen have all been those guys that just take everything too seriously and will shun you if you do anything unconventional, and it's left a foul taste in my mouth. I really dislike the competitive battling scene, and I also don't see the point in worrying about natures, IVs, or EVs. If you want to battle, use a battle sim. if you're not a competitive battler, all you're doing is wasting time because they make almost no difference in-game.
I go casual when playing through the game, only vaguely paying attention to stats to see if I need to change the Pokemon in my party for something with better stats, but other than that, I just let it be.
But post game, I do EV train, and if I have the time, I breed for good IVs. I don't really do competitive battling though, way too tedious for me, I prefer just battling with some friends of mine who also EV train.
Casual. I haven't the first clue to EV training.
Casual. I have no interest in competitive battling. I have attempted to IV/EV train in the past though, for when my cousin and I had a chance to battle. She's really into competitive battling and would always crush me, so I tried to make a stronger team, but couldn't understand how to properly IV/EV train.
My main goal is having every fully evolved pokemon at level 100
Competitive training has no place in my games. I use what Pokemon I want regardless of stats or how good they are.
I don't really have an interest in competitive battling any more but I still EV Train a fair bit, just for areas like the Battle Subway. Plus, I enjoy EV Training.
Personally, I play purely for fun. My favorite part of the game is breeding. I've considered EV training a team or two for competitive battling, but I just don't know enough about how to go about it. Tried to learn a couple times, but still don't quite get it.
Pre-story gameplay: I prefer to simply catch and use the Pokemon regardless of EV/IVs. It's just easier that way.
Post-story gameplay: IV breeding and EV training to battle people online or within Battle Subway. I know how to RNG abuse so it's easier to IV breed.
I prefer casual play. Very rarely do I battle online.
I play the Pokemon games for fun, so i'm more of a casual player indeed. XD I really couldn't care less for IV's/EV's in game as I don't battle online etc.
Both.
After playing casually, I EV train my Pokemon for fun.
I only casually play and even then, more often than not, it's with Nuzlocke rules. I never was able to grasp EV training orz.
Casual. I would rather have more fun training my own way then training to get my Pokes to a certain stat so they can keep up with all those competitive people.
Casual for the most part, but I actually had fun breeding and EV training Pokemon for the PWT when I was done with everything else in White 2.
I'm more casual with my playstyle, and don't go to any tornaments or anything anyways.
EV training had been too much of a hassle to give a lick about, I'd much rather pick up another title before sitting down and grinding hidden values.
With XY coming out, it's more accessible which has caused me to take an interest.
I'm a mix of both.
I'll go for casual play, though I do like to breed to get a good nature for each pokemon. And I like to raise them, so they are stronger than wild pokemon of the same level, but that's all, I don't really like competitive gameplay in pokemon.
Usually I'll play casually, but I'll train my Pokemon competitively so they stand a chance in an online battle.
I'm a casual gamer, so I only ever play casually. I'm not big on the competitive front, but I'll do some EV training/IV breeding if I really want to participate in a tourney just so I stand a chance.
Casual. I don't care for competitive, alot of people use the same Pokemon
I'm very casual.... I don't really care about competitiveness tbh
I like to play casually. Not to much pressure. But I do enjoy my online battles from time to time, though that usually isn't my priority till I finished the Pokemon League. Story first, all the rest second ^^
That said, I do like to breed my team in one game to send the level 1 team of choice to the next game and train them from 1 in the new game. (Might reconsider that with Sun and Moon)
I honestly don't like competitive battling because it seems a little too stale with the same Pokémon being used overall. So I prefer to play casual. I might try for the occasional good nature for a little project or some egg move breeding, but that's it.
I'm not that interested in battling other people. I like playing the games and completing the Pokedex and post-game stuff like shiny hunts and things but I've never gotten into any sort of training or competitive play.
