The music behind a few of the Ratchet Gladiator gauntlets is pretty epic! The combination of a few different genres in a few of the tracks give them a pretty good beat, in my opinion. There's a couple of tracks that sound like a mix of electro, metal and/or industrial - three music genres that I like.

I'm trying to find a download for the music itself. XP

Title theme for KH 358/2 Days. So calm and stuff.

I think the Zelda series has the best soundtrack overall.

Ocarina of Time: Gerudo Valley. 'Nuff said.
Wind Waker: Dragon Roost Island, Molgera battle.
Twilight Princess: Hyrule Field (if the overworld theme is awesome, this tells you a lot about the soundtrack), Hidden Village

These are my favourite tracks of all. But every song fits so perfectly with each area. It's just perfect. Koji Kondo is a music god.

You've pretty much brought up the topic of my existence.

Sonic music. I listen to this stuff from almost every Sonic game, especially the older games. They're just so darn catchy.
Mario Kart games: I pretty much adore levels solely for their music.
Paper Mario: The boss themes made this series spectacular. Most notably CRYSTAL KING (WOOOO), Macho Grubba, Doopliss, and General Guy.
Earthbound: BATTLE MUSIC. Hard battles made me like the game more.
Mana Khemia: Loved the themes. Especially fighting Isolde.
Pokemon: OMG. G/S/C, Platinum, R/S/E, Pokemon Puzzle League , AWESOME.
Mario Party: Not so much, but still, a few good ones, like Rainbow Castle.
Also some miscellaneous ones, like Super Mario Land, Super Mario 64, 007, Music Catch 2, Animal Crossing, DDR (If those count), the list goes on. And on. And on...

Spyro the Dragon had the most epic soundtrack of any game I've ever played. I'd totally download the tracks and listen to them on my MP3 player if I could get them legally anywhere. ):

Ripto's Rage and Year of the Dragon were good too, but the first one was definitely the best. Probably because they added some other guy to help instead of letting Stewart Copeland do it himself.

Calling to the Night from SSBB. It's a really emotional piece but even though I nearly cry sometimes I love it. Some songs from Tales of Symphonia because they're touching. And White Night Imagination from Atelier Iris. Those are my top three atm but I have plenty I like.

I'm personally madly in love with these:

Okami OST, as much art as the whole game. My ears are in love.
All OSTs from Sengoku BASARA games, just as epic as the games themselves.
Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean OST, all thanks to composer Motoi Sakuraba. The game itself has a bad audio quality but music is fabulous.
Sword of the New World: Granado Espada OST, absolutely the best MMORPG musics ever.

As a music games, Ouendans also have great musics. Katamari has lunatic music too. 8D
Persona 3 Burn My Dread -Reincarnation- CD from game Persona3 is one of my newest good finds.

Time to list...a few

A good few of the Kingdom Hearts soundtracks (Passion/Sanctuary are at the top of that)
A bit of the Disgaea music (I keep forgetting which ones are my favorite)
Okami's music.
A lot of the ToA, ToS, ToV, ToS2 music (Mostly the openings and battle themes~ and ToG's opening.)
ANY AND ALL of the music from Mana-Khemia/Mana-Khemia 2/Atelier Iris. I just love Ken Nakagawa's music now. X3
Some of .hack//G.U.'s music
Some of the music from the various Final Fantasy.
And finally, Anything from Golden Sun. Motoi Sakuraba is awesome.


There's rarely any Pokemon tracks I like since I never hear it anyways. Sound's always off.

OMG, AngelicKasai, you too? I <3 Calling to the Night! I remember that I was playing on SMI the day my pet cat Simba died. The last words I said to him were that I'd always remember him whenever I heard that song. *sniffle*

Anyways, I love (and I mean ) Golden Sun music. So many great songs... And the inclusion of the final boss battle theme of Lost Age in Brawl is pure awesomesauce. One wonders that if Camelot Software Planning did so well with the GBA sound hardware, how awesome will the songs in GSDS be?
I also love any song from Zelda (I'm currently listening to a Zelda 'Mix from OC Remix right now!) and Pokémon (HGSS soundtrack PWNZ!) Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't say that I love pretty much every song in Brawl, too.

So my favorite songs are mostly from:

I love the Legend of Zelda music because that was the first game I tried and I grew up on it, not to mention that it is really beautiful. I also like the Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song music, it is absolutely brilliant, and there are so many different genres all rolled in to one, but they all fit well together, which makes it even better.

I really like the whole soundtrack from Shadow of the Colossus. Very beautiful music. Same deal with the Metal Gear Solid series, it would not be the same without the excellent music.

Spyro (all three PSX installments)
Sonic the Hedgehog (from the first one to Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles)
Crash Bandicoot (from the first one to CTR)
Animal Crossing

Silent Hill has excellent music for setting the mood for the game, though it's not exactly "plug-into-mp3 player-and-go" music.

I have the orchestral version of the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Soundtrack which I enjoy a great deal, but my favorite VG music would likely be selections from FF IX. Particularly Vamo de flamenco and Steiner's theme are excellent to drive or work out to.

Kingdom Hearts has really good music. The Zelda games, like a lot of people have already said. The touhou games have some amazing music, too. Oh yeah, and Silent hill. Promise (Reprise) is one of my favorites. Castle Crashers from the xbox live arcade. The snow world music is <3.

Sanctuary and Simple & Clean from Kingdom Hearts are amazing songs. Some of the best I've heard from any game. <3

I like the songs Crush 40 or whoever else does for Sonic the Hedgehog as well~ some of my faves are Live & Learn, City Escape, Dreams of an Absolution, and His World (mostly the instrumental for the last one).

Oh, I have so many different favorites.

I love the soundtrack to PMD: Explorers of Time/Darkness, and aquired a huge chunk of it just recently.

I have the beginning and ending theme to Spyro the Dragon.

I have quite a few different songs from Sonic Heroes, including the opening theme.

I don't play Kingdom Hearts, but I love Simple and Clean-English (and the Techno Remix-English) and Sanctuary.

I have a few battle themes from Digimon World Dawn/Dusk.

I also have a few tracks from Rayman Arena (Rayman M).

N64 games tended to have good music. I have parts of the Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Tooie soundtracks.

And a large portion of the SSBB soundtrack. Very epic music. <3

Okami's soundtrack is my favorite video game soundtrack as it has so many songs that are just.. amazing. Tribe of Heavenly Kami and Waka's Dance/Playing with Waka are my favorite tracks (one is just fitting for where it plays, and the other's pretty catchy). The Disgaea series has a pretty nice soundtrack, too - Planet X and White Tiger are my favorites from that series for their energy. TWEWY's music is also cool, even with the occasional garbled English.

I've got a few favorites.

~Power-Hungry Fool/Oliver's Fall from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance/Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn is arguably my favorite. I've always enjoyed the harpsichord in it and I tend to leave the screen running for a while whenever Oliver appears. Oliver's Fall also is on my iPod. :p
~Ephemeral Dream from Soul Calibur III is another favorite of mine. Setsuka is one of my favorite characters from the game and I love the stage as well. The music complements the stage well.
~If There Were Any Other Way from the Soul Series. This is the destined battle theme in II and III as far as I know but I'm unsure as to the other games. It perfectly complements the situation in my opinion.
~Confront Julius from Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. One of the best final boss themes ever made. And this is from the days of SNES as well.
~The opening theme from the SEGA Genesis version of Clue/Cluedo. This game is older than I am and it's still extremely sophisticated.
~The victory theme from the above game is also a favorite.
~Curse of the Tongue from the SEGA Genesis version of Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Once again, older than me but still a classic. It fits the stages it's played on.
~The 13th Dilemma from Kingdom Hearts II. The best Organization song by far and it always reminds me of how Xaldin kicks my ass halfway to hell each time I fight him.
~The Other Promise from Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+. I think it says something when it's in your iPod's top 25 most played songs. Absolutely beautiful score.
~The Gate of Magus from Super Robot Wars Original Generation. It's creepy but amazing. I regret deleting it from my iPod.
~Dragon Roost Island from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. I just love it but I never understood why.

In SSBB, my single most favorite track is "Battle Scene/Final Boss (Golden Sun)". I'm a major GS fangirl (check my username (Mars Adept Enten) and sig (my claim on Isaac) for proof), and that is easily one of the best tracks I've heard, hands down. Funny how they mislabeled it as music from the first game, when it comes from The Lost Age instead. Would it have honestly been too much work to just put the subtitle of "The Lost Age" on the end there? One wonders. Although, I believe that Sakurai-sama could have chosen a better stage for that track to play on, at the very least. I mean, really? Norfair? Metroid and Golden Sun are about as far apart in subject matter/game genre as you can get. Sci-fi adventure ≠ High-fantasy medieval RPG. Not in the very least. It'd be more fitting for even Castle Siege before Norfair. At least FE has some similarities to GS. Japanese interpretation of Medieval Europe strategy-RPG ≈ High-fantasy medieval RPG with alchemy as a major plot point. (Hint: Those weird signs between the descriptions of the game genres and such are the mathematical signs for 'not equal to' and 'almost equal to', FYI.) Personally, I would've put it on the Pictochat stage, even though that's not really the best place for it, either. Although if Isaac-kun was a playable character, and there was an actual GS stage, that would've solved that problem right there. But that's not here nor there. The music that plays late at night is just... Quiet and relaxing, whereas the music played in the early morning and afternoon is all upbeat and wakes you up. Then it starts slowing down during the evening. It's really peaceful and calming to me, actually.

Aaaand the music from Super Mario Galaxy 2.
The symphony on there was just amazing. Some of the music was quiet and relaxing, like on the Cosmic Cove galaxy, and some of the music was epic, like on the stages before you faced Bowser. I really loved all of the music on that whole game. ;w;

I thought FE:RD's was average, but I am one picky asshole about my video game music (Tales games' OST sucks cock, for reference). I heavily preferred Path of Radiance's simply due to the fact that I "felt" Radiance's far more than Dawn's. I prefer to "feel" my music as opposed to listen to it, if that makes sense.

Whenever it comes to some of the more artistic aspects of video games, I have a soft spot for SNES games. Super Metroid would probably be way up there, mainly for atmosphere. Like that song that it plays when you first land on the planet and it's all rainy, or that song it plays in the lower Brinstar area on your way to Kraid. The original Harvest Moon also had some good songs, but they're good in the way that Zelda songs are good, which is that they're so short and catchy that you easily get them ingrained into your mind. Speaking of which, LttP had a pretty good set of songs, but they aren't as renowned as OoT's are with fans.

I've enjoyed a lot of Pokemon songs, but I wouldn't put the series as a whole very close to the top of my list, as there were a ton of forgettable songs, and in the case of HG/SS, some songs that were just flat-out annoying. I'm talking about you, Cerulean City. The Johto songs are always great though.

As for more modern stuff, I really liked Mass Effect 2's soundtrack for how Blade Runner-ey it was. The Assassin's Creed games also have pretty solid songs. A friend of mine got me the MGS4 soundtrack, which was good as well, but there's a few other great MGS songs out there (ie. the MGS2 theme).

I've been on a Zelda bender for a while now, and I have to add pretty much all the Temple Warp ocarina songs from OoT3D. Especially the Nocturne of Shadow. It gave me chills when I heard it for the first time, and then I was like, "Hey, this is really pretty!" Although the Minuet of Forest is nice, too. And I've fallen in love with the Forest Temple BGM as well. Maybe it doesn't frighten me because I first played the 3DS remake at 23. And also probably because of the completely awesome OoT OCReMix song, "Prayer". It's a really pretty remix of Forest Temple with lyrics in Japanese, and each verse is a prayer to one of the three Goddesses.

I'd say that roughly 1/3 of my iTunes is composed of remixes from both OCReMix and some downloaded remixes from PokéRemixStudio on YouTube.

EDIT: *brofists Mercenary Raven* Oh, yeah! I almost completely forgot about the Yu-Gi-Oh! video games' awesome music. XD And from the 'old-school' YGO games at that!

A while back I gave a listen to a bunch of soundtracks and made a Top 100 of my favorite. Little note: Listening to over 100 soundtracks in less than 30 days? Awful idea. Really grated on me.

With that being said, my favorite wound up being Casket of Star, a theme in this nifty little Touhou fighter called Scarlet Weather Rhapsody. Kirby Air Ride's Rock Star came REALLY close to getting #1, though.

Pretty much anything I can find from Sonic, Mario, Pokemon, Kirby, and Touhou; hence, my username SoMaPoKiTo from quite some time ago. Yeah, yeah, I kinda cut things short here, but most, if not all, of the music from these games (and movie by way of Sonic OVA) is awesome.
And sure, those aren't the only ones -- AC (especially the GC version), LoZ (Wind Waker esp.), and...aw, c'mon, remember *bashes head*...err, various pieces of music here-and-there *le scumbag memory* come to mind -- but those first five are my main ones for music~

My favorite song of all time, though, is definitely Eternal Bond/Ike's Theme from FE: Radiant Dawn! I actually first heard it in Brawl, which was before I started playing FE. But I absolutely loved it and it became my favorite instantly.

I also think Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 has an awesome soundtrack. I like just about every song in it! And it has lots of songs so you have a large selection to choose from when adding music to your rides.

Lastly, I also really like Team Galactic Battle from Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and the Village Bridge theme in Pokemon Black/White/Black 2/White 2.

I'm playing three Zelda games ATM (Twilight Princess, Minish Cap, and Ocarina of Time 3D), and I have to say, I <3 the music for the twilight-covered areas (Faron Woods, Kakariko Village/Death Mountain, Lanayru Province) in the beginning of TP. Just... it's so strangely soothing to me. It's a pity you don't hear it for quite some time after dispelling the twilight in Lanayru Province, though. I'm also fond of the twilight realm battle theme. It's all over the place, composition-wise, but it's still awesome. Oh, and I'd be remissed if I forgot about Midna's Lament. 'Tis a shame that song only plays for one (may be brief, depending on whether you head straight to Hyrule Castle and speak with Zelda or if you goof off) part of the game. It's very beautiful, and I sometimes prolong (read: goof off) the time I spend listening to it because of its beauty. I also like Snowpeak's music. I find it so soothing, like the twilight's music. And the Hidden Village's song is awesome too. Thankfully, you can relisten to that song. And I'm also fond of Ruteia's theme and the Kakariko graveyard music.

tl;dr: I really like Twilight Princess's music. XD

I have quite a few songs that I like. I can't really decide, but If I had to go by playlist, it would be Open Your Heart because I have all of its Remixes in my favourites. Anyways:

Open Your Heart- Sonic Adventure. I don't know why I like this song so much. Maybe it's the boss.
Supporting Me- Sonic Adventure 2. Biolizard's theme (?). I don't know how this became one of my favourites, but I do like the dark theme and the distorted ish vocals (Same with all BGM in Shadow stages)

Seeing as how Smash 4 3DS has recently come out, I've found a bunch of good tracks in that game. To wit (will be formatted as "(game/track title)/rearranger/composer/remixer (if listed)):

"Menu (Melee): Ver. 2"/Nobuko Toda (I love the dramatic feel in this. Which is something that you normally wouldn't expect from Smash Bros. menu music, remix or not.)
"Super Mario Bros. 3 Medley"/Shota Kageyama (It's rearranged by GAME FREAK. 'Nuff said.)
"Ground Theme/Underground Theme (Super Mario Bros.)"/Tetsuya Shibata (It's another classic.)
"Ground Theme (Super Mario Bros.)"/Koji Kondo (Come on, it's a remix from the composer of the track himself.)
"Underground Theme (Super Mario Bros.)/Kentaro Ishizaka (I really liked this track in Brawl, so I'm happy to see it return.)
"Stickerbrush Symphony"/Michiko Naruke (Another track returning from Brawl. Plus, it's really peaceful.)
"Gerudo Valley"/Rio Hamamoto (Come on, a remix of one of the best tracks from OoT? Do I need to say anything besides that?)
"Ocarina of Time Medley"/Michiko Naruke (Yet another track that returns from Brawl.)
"Full Steam Ahead (Spirit Tracks)"/Michiko Naruke (Probably one of the best overworld tracks in a Zelda game ever, IMO. Plus, the retro bonus of having Overworld from the original Zelda is nice as well.)
"Main Theme/Underworld Theme (The Legend of Zelda)"/Hideki Sakamoto (I don't know why, but the Underworld theme is one of my favorite tracks from Zelda, despite not even having PLAYED the first game in the series.)
"Dark World/Dark World Dungeon"/Keiichi Okabe (A nice retro nod. I love the Dark World theme from LttP/TotG.)
"Ballad of the Goddess/Ghirahim's Theme"/Ryo Nagamatsu (I was pleasantly surprised that this is done on electric guitar. Certainly not something you'd expect from a Zelda remix.)
"Temple Theme"/Shogo Sakai (Nice to see this return from Melee. I loved this track back then.)
"Brinstar"/Shogo Sakai (I just love how this is done. Dunno why.)
"Brinstar Depths"/Shogo Sakai (One of my favorite tracks from Melee. Shame that the stage itself hasn't returned.)
"Green Greens"/"Castle Lololo"/"Float Islands"/"Bubbly Clouds"/"Mt. Dedede" (I love that these are straight original versions. I like the old-school style.)
"Theme from Area 6/Missile Slipstream"/Motoi Sakuraba (Even though I'm not really a Star Fox fan, these are both awesome-sounding tracks. The fact that it's done by Sakuraba is a bonus.)
"N's Castle Medley"/Shota Kageyama (Some of my favorite tracks from Black and White. Plus, hearing an electric guitar version of "ENDING~To Their Respective Futures~" is .)
"Battle! (Reshiram/Zekrom)"/Atsuko Asahi (Probably some of the best Legendary battle themes in the series, and the brief interlude of "Dragonspiral Tower" is nice as well. Although, I wish they had put in the flaring fire/crackling lightning effects in as well. )
"Battle! (Trainer Battle) (Pokémon X and Pokémon Y)"/Yuzo Koshiro (Come on, it's done by Koshiro-san. Plus, this is arguably the best Trainer battle theme in the series for me.)
"Mute City" (original) (I dunno why, but I love the style of this.)
"Mute City" (remix)/Kenji Ito (See above)
"Magicant/Eight Melodies (Mother)"/Yoko Shimomura (I've never played any of the Mother games (blasphemy for any Nintendo JRPG fan, I know), but I might have to give them a shot because they have great music.)
"Gaur Plain"/"You Will Know Our Names"/"Mechanical Rhythm" (Unf. So much awesome in all of these.)

Sorry, got a little tl;dr there. But yeah, Smash 4 3DS has a lot of great tracks. I like way too many to list all of them. This is just a small selection of favorite tracks.

I'm sure my favorites have been said but here we go:

FFX - beautiful and melodic. The music was very very memorable. Loved it. <3
Soul Caliber (not one in particular as they all tend to be good) - You don't often listen for music in fighting games, but they did a fantastic job on it.
Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 - Really incredibly done. Also memorable music, and it felt very "epic" so to speak. I haven't really played much of the KH series outside of these two games, but I'm sure the music is good too ^^

All the music in Super Robot Wars OG. Openings, endings, bgm... literally everything in these games counts as my favorite video game music ever. It doesn't help that the vocal songs come from JAM Project (Hironobu Kageyama, Masaaki Endoh, Yoshiki Fukuyama, Hiroshi Kitadani and Masami Okui - during the early days, even Ichiro Mizuki was still there).

In my opinion, even Final Fantasy doesn't hold a candle to SRW soundtracks.

I've been playing a LOT of Hyrule Warriors recently, and I have to say, I NEED this game's OST on my iTunes. So much concentrated awesome in it. Some of my personal favorites:

Temple of the Sacred Sword (It's the combination of epic, beauty and ethereal that makes this my single favorite track from the game, and that's saying something. It also reminds me a bit of Kingdom Valley from Sonic '06 as well, due to the similarities in the combination of epic/beautiful/ethereal that it has.)
Palace of Twilight (As I've mentioned before, I listen to a lot of classic rock, and this sounds so similar to the general 'feel' of that genre that I love it. Also, it's from the Twilight Princess branch in Legend Mode, and that game had some great music as well.)
Valley of the Seers (all three variants used in Legend Mode, but especially the first and second variants) I like this track set because of the diversity between the three variants used. The second variant really stands out in being beautiful but somewhat sad at the same time, which really reflects Cia's character very well.
Lake Hylia (in battle variant) Unf. The electric guitar is so kickass.
Skyloft (A very well-done electric guitar arrangement of an already-awesome track.)
Temple of Souls (I think it's the pipe organ in this that makes me love this track. Plus, it got stuck in my head due to doing a specific Adventure Battle in Adventure Mode, that took me multiple tries over several days to clear with an A rank.)

So, yeah. Even though this is a Zelda spin-off game, it still shares the series tendency to have AWESOME music.

A hauntingly sad song, this song plays on the final level, and is extremely symbolic of Klonoa passing through the epitome of sorrow. The song holds different pieces of Klonoa 1's soundtrack, popping in and out of a disturbing beat with a familiar whistle covering it. Anyone who's played Klonoa 1 and saw this would find this song outright disturbing not only for Klonoa 2, but the entire series in general. I always held the headcanon that when Klonoa was passing through this place, something was always tugging at him, making him sad about...something. In reality, his mind was trying to remember his time in Klonoa 1. This song perfectly gets both the player sad about Klonoa's tragic life, and explains how Klonoa is feeling in a world of nothing but sadness.

Thanks to TPP doing Touhou Puppet Play, I've realized that THPP has AWESOME music. Considering that they had to account for GBA sound limitations, and all.

EDIT: I've been playing Hyrule Warriors: Legends a lot as of late, and the new tracks for the additional story arc in Legend Mode are INCREDIBLE. Especially the Earth and Wind Temples stage; it has a rock remix of Molgera Battle (LoZ: WW/WWHD), one of the Crowning Musics of Awesome of WW/WWHD. It starts out like the WW/WWHD version of the track, then gradually adds electric guitars until it's up to Epic Rocking levels of awesome. And the Forsaken Fortress level has a neat medley of a bunch of WW tracks, among them the Title Screen Theme and Dragon Roost Isle and I'm pretty sure there's more tracks that I can't really identify off the top of my head (It's been at least 2 years since I last played WWHD, mind you.)

But I realize it may be a style not everyone likes.
