My history with WoW;
I was one of the beta testers of World of Warcraft (not Burning Crusade, not Lich King, World of Warcraft) and then I played for about two to three years after it was released. I played with a few friends every weekend and we would run instances, level up, etc., but then it just got really boring so I quit. I then moved on to Tabula Rasa (shut down), Age of Conan (dying last I checked), Warhammer Online (doing ok), beta tested Aion (doing very good) and that is all that I remember. I then recently came back to playing WoW, barely though, to play with some old friends, but they are all hard core raid group guild people. The only reason that I came back is because I am waiting for Star Trek Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic, and I wanted to play Aion but my friend insisted that we play WoW.

The point to all of that is this; WoW, in my opinion, is not a great game. I have played basically all of the pay to play MMOs in the last three to four years, and they all kick the crap out of WoW. The lore of Warcraft is great, but WoW is just very boring and repetitive. Basically the only reason that WoW is so massive of an MMO is because people got their friends to play with them, they made new friends, so when they find something new that is better, they most likely want to go play it but they would be alone. People stay where their friends are. Basically the only people that would leave a game with their friends on it are people that don't care about interacting with other people or like to test new things. I have tested other MMOs on the market, and I would put WoW near the bottom of the list. Tabula Rasa had an amazing combat system, but it died because no one would leave WoW. Age of Conan is by far the best so far in my opinion, but the graphics required really good computers to run and no one would leave WoW. Warhammer was also good, but once again, no one would leave WoW. Anyone see a recurring theme here? No one wants to leave WoW because their friends are there.

That's what I have to say.

I go with the same opinion...WoW might be a nice game and some People really love it because it hits their taste but so far its not perfect at all. I havent played for so long like Asper Kaos did ^^; Maybe a bit over a year. The graphics arent even nice in WoW if you compare it with AION for example. The Char Design aint...detailed enough. I guess in a MMORPG the User wants his own individual, special, perfect looking Char (lol) and in WoW you actually only have the choice to change skin colour, hair colour, hair, complete faces, horns...Thats quiet less imo ^^; For me, it would be better if I could change seperately the faceparts, like eyes, nose, mouth etc. and not only 5 or 10 choises, no lot of more, like a max. of 20 (I think I have a high requirement ._.)
Anyway I actually dont compare which fraction might be better lol his silly question does not even come into my mind, since I tried both sides on a Blizzlike Server (original Rates). For me I actually dont like ugly Chars xP I played on Horde the Bloodelves and on the Alliance the Draenei. And both Chars were Hunter and..on both sides I met the same amount of stupid player lol I never played a Online Game with such a high hostility. Theres is much hatred in that Game <.<
And theres also one case why I dont like WoW that much. You actually only can gain good level by quests...and the quests always repead with the same task ~_~ go kill monster XYZ 25 times, bring me back Item XYZ 10 times, bring me the head of XYZ and protect NPC XYZ while walking... ...thats ridiculous and makes no fun.
The only thing I like in WoW is kicking ass in raids lol thats the only thing what makes fun for me.

Hm...for some reason I have to agree and on the same way to disagree with the last sentence...
For me I only still play WoW because I dont want to throw the hard work I made for my char away. And of course I log into the game because of my friends too but my first conclusion is closer to the question why I dont let go from WoW ^^ Generally I cant leave any MMORPG I joined...Thats why I still play RO, RO2, AION and Cabal too beside WoW. Every Char I created I cant leave it alone...You can say I'm more addicted to my Chars than to the Game lol

I played it for a good 4-ish years.

I only could muster up a 64 Feral Night Elf Druid.

Mainly because I couldn't pay attention long enough to the repetitive requests.
It was more fun with friends, but alone I couldn't stand playing it unless I restarted from the beginning.

Oh God don't get me started on WoW! I FREAKING LOVE IT! But, I don't play anymore.... my dad played it and it started getting kind of retarded with all the expansions and all, so we stopped.I had a few lvl 70 allys, a new lvl 20 or so Ork Horde, around 40 Dwarf Hunter, and then a like lvl. 60 Night Elf Hunter. My fav. characters are Gnomes and Drawves though. I love sparring like Night Elves as a gnome, beating them, and saying "The midget beat ya again!" XD But I like the Gnomes, Drawves for alliance, and then for Horde the Tauren and either Orks or Trolls. Trolls have cool hairstyles XD My midget gnome had a green moustache XD

I couldn't pay attention long enough to the repetitive requests.

If you want repetitive quests, you should've played City of Heroes/City of Villains. You can only take on 3 quests at a time and it was always the same exact thing. The only things I really liked in that game was the endless create a character screen and the ability to not have to run to the person to drop off a quest. I played WoW since before the first expansion and when tauren didn't have mounts, and I never got bored. In fact, I got addicted to WoW. -_-2.gif On hiatus from WoW until the new expansion comes out, but i doubt I'll go back to WoW. Maybe go to Aion or something. Don't know where the addiction came from, maybe it wasn't WoW, just the computer. Who knows? Yeah, World of Warcraft might not have the best graphics(that, and Aion is SO great), but a good game somewhat. Now, back to the main topic.

Main was 80 blood elf mage (Aelystel), transferred from lightninghoof where I lvled her to 70, then she went to Twisting Nether to capm which would be 80. Member of the guild Agents of Chaos. I believe I last played in the spring of 09.

It was fun back in the day, but I don't really play it much more (since it's my brother's game and I don't think he has a subscription anymore).

When I played, I mostly did instances, over and over and over. I don't know why, but that was fun for me grin.gif

I liked playing as Hunters, didn't mater which side or what race. Loved when the first expansion came out and there was a love level zombie bear my new Dratini Hunter could tame grin.gif

...actually you can just change/replace the "sprites" of a monster (or NPC etc.). You just need to know how it works and which tools/programms you need for. Thats no big deal and has nothing to do with hacking dumblook.gif

Anyway, I prefered worgs as pets ^^ I had for a long time a Shattered Hand Warhound called Heruga (Houndoom) xD After I got bored of it I got myself a Kurken (named him Hatii) but then, when I once flew above the Sholazar Basin I saw Loque'nahak ... I don't own a copy, much less a subscription to WoW right now, but once I am financially stable/have the time I think I'ma get one. It was a good destress/timesink for me when I played it.

Plus I love trolls (the Horde race, not the internet sort :P) OMG OMG words cannot describe how awesome they are

I play Horde-side on Moonguard, with a hunter main. I started playing a few months before Mist of Pandaria released, and recently cancelled my subscription due to wanting to spend money on other things/boredom. I'm planning on renewing my sub once Warlords of Draenor gets released.

With love

I play WoW. happy.gif And I get a lot of criticizing for it from time to time.
But don't really care, I'm having fun and that's all that matters to me.
I play some other MMOs too, GW2 in particular. And tried a lot of betas for subscription based MMOs but nothing really got me as much as WoW personally. Felt like I was doing the same thing over and over. (Not saying they were bad. Just didn't offer anything new for me.)

I main a hunter (because I was asked to at start of MoP). My favorites must be restoration shaman, brewmaster monk and disc priest however.

I've been playing for something like 4-6 years now (on and off). Not really running out of things to do. And whenever I get too bored, can just cut off the subscription till new patch/update or something.
Takes a lot of your time if it's your kind of thing. But I've enjoyed it overall.
