Possible randimg update, Opinions wanted |

Alright, so I came up with an idea last night for an extension to randimg. Before I waste my time actually doing it, I was curious how many people would actually find this useful and be interested in using it.
If you're not a current user of randimg or don't even know what it is, it's a website I made that allows you to easily create a rotating image (like my avatar, which displays a different image each time you refresh the page), since so many people kept asking me how to do it. All you have to do is register an account (no confirmation needed and no I don't send out any emails unless you forgot your password) and begin uploading images and adding them to piles (different rotating image sets). So here's my idea: you pair your images with a URL. You're then able to just grab the random image link (like you are now) or BBCode/HTML for the image wrapped in a new random-link URL. It'd look something like this (using my avatar's pile): CODE [url=http://pile.randimg.net/0/0/4/GTSPlus%20Avatar.php][img]http://pile.randimg.net/0/0/4/GTSPlus%20Avatar.png[/img][/url] It might not be exactly like that, but it's just an example. Now if I have that in my signature, and someone clicks on the image, the link will redirect you to the URL that is paired with that image. Since there's no way for you to actually make the BBCode in your signature randomize the URL, the randimg link would know which URL was paired with that image (it would know which image was displayed). A possible reason for doing this is that all those images in my avatar pile were created by members here. I could pair up each image with the URL of the forum or GPX profile for the member who made it for me. This example isn't something I would actually do since that pile is for my avatar, and you obviously wouldn't be able to use this new feature for avatars (if you're seriously wondering why, you can't just put BBCode for your avatar; you only supply a link to the image itself). Another use for this is if you want to create a rotating banner with images that advertise your different profiles on different websites (maybe things like deviantArt or other adoptables sites). Since a lot of forums have image restrictions, or your banners might be really big on their own so not enough room to put them all, you could just use something like this so it advertises a different one on each refresh. Go ahead and vote in the poll. I don't think I have time to do this right now anyways so figured I'd get some opinions awhile and get awareness out there for it in case I do go through with the idea. -------------------- Want a rotating avatar like mine? Sounds neat. That way, instead of people giving all the credits in their signature it could be kind of like a "click to see who did it" thing. At least, I could use that.

This definitely sounds like something that could be very useful. There are a few sites I use that limit the amount of images I can use so one image link for a bunch of urls sounds great to me.

I like the idea, I wouldnt use it myself, As I link all mine to one thing. But for the people who use Signatures or Avatars made by other users, it gives them the credit without having to brand it with their name.
