(Please forgive me if this is already a topic.)

What do you think? Do you believe the rumors? I personally think that's it's too strange to be true, but that's just how I function.

I think it's pretty much false. (This prediction for the games is what I'm basing my opinion on.)

I think the 3DS is a while from being retired, with at least two more gens being able to run on it before the next system release. Some of the rumor makers still run on the false notion that every pokemon generation has to be on a new system. I think that was a coincidence in the past that carried on because of the speed of technology development back then. Development has pretty much plateaued out now, across all companies, so we'll be seeing more titles on a single system from this point on.

Have the titles appeared on Game Freak's recent trademarks? If not I don't think that we'll be seeing Plus and Minus as title names. HOWEVER, something related to Plusle and Minun were recently trademarked at the same time as Delta Emerald. Whether this means those titles have been locked down or Mega Plusle and Mega Minun are on the way has yet to be revealed, so the titles aren't completely out of the blue.

QUOTE("MyNintendoNews")
Three new starters with no names: Water evolves into Water/Steel and is a squat, teardrop shaped humanoid that has a jar filled with on its head as it evolves it grows taller and the jar bigger until it needs another set of arms to hold it on it’s head. Fire evolves into Fire/Fairy and is a tiny cute goat with fire blowing out of its horns, it’s horns and look evolves more menacing until it has curly ram like horns and a motorcycle hot-rod-like look. Grass evolves into a Grass/Electric and starts with a leap for a face with a nubby root as a body and evolves until it grows into an electric producing palm tree with each flower petal having a different face.

The main legendary for Pokemon Plus is a Shi Foo Lion-looking Psychic/Ground-type that has multiple faces, the Pokemon Minus legendary is a Ghost/Fairy type that has two dashes for eyes and is a hurricane-like appendages with many arms and hands.

These starter and legend predictions were passed around during the early stages of XY, and were proven false. The designs described were distinctly un-pokemon-like. Take note of the focus on the Fire starter as the only interesting one, while Water and Grass get extremely strange designs that would be undesirable to the average child in GF's target audience. If there's one thing GF does well, it's make the starters as appealing to as wide a base as possible, saving experimental designs for later in the pokedex. The average inexperienced fan prefers the Fire type starter because "Fire is cool". The Fire starter favoritism screams that a young fan made up the starter rumor.

The legends sound like two forks of Claydol, especially the first one. The proposed legends, titles, and game theme have absolutely nothing in common, as well. The theme is supposed to be "old tradition" vs. "new exploration", but those themes would be rehashed from Black and White, would have zero representation with the designs of the legendaries, and would have nothing to do with the titles.

New region, no name yet, is based on South East Asia with one large peninsula and many smaller islands.

They pulled that straight from our discussion on the Strange Souvenir on TVTropes. The guy proposed that because the idol had an island look to it.

QUOTE
More traditional Pokemon-like gameplay will be on the Handheld controller while an all new gameplay aspect will be on the Terminal unit.

The devs already stated that Pokemon is and will remain a strictly handheld game, so this is false. This was also taken from our TVTropes discussion of gen 7.

QUOTE
The new “Team” villains are described as a bunch of “Sohei Zelots”-types who have discovered the player’s best friend as a reincarnation of a special type of person who only is alive every 100 years. They believe the old system where people were given a Pokemon egg and they stick to that Pokemon until they die and who’s function in society dictate what role that person is. They are against the “modern” trend of Pokemon Trainers and capturing multiple Pokemon and are making a holy pilgrimage to evoke the old Legendaries to turn everything back to normal. They keep the player away from their friend, saying the special one (who can do amazing things like mega evolve Pokemon without the use of a mega ring) only love is that of Pokemon and not people. It is planned to be reveal later that for the special one to fulfill their role in society they must be mortally sacrificed to awaken the legendaries.

Another one from our TVTropes thread? (We decided that it was too dark for a pokemon game.) So some guy stalked the three threads we have going and pulled all the stray ideas as his own. Classy.

QUOTE
The island gameplay with Gym Leaders and the Elite Four island can be played entirely on the Handheld and can be blown up on the Terminal for home play.

False and stolen from TVTropes. :p

QUOTE
The “Mainland” is an MMO-like environment that is exclusive to the Terminal and is shared by both versions.

Players all over the world online can chat, trade, intermingle and experience new-updated story lines on the mainland.

False and stolen from TVTropes.

New Pokemon Type similar to Shinies, no details yet on how they work but I’ve been told they “change the game significantly”.

I see that what we were talking about got too complicated for him to copy down this time. We were talking about Delta Types, which would be similar to shinies in that one exists for every pokemon. They differ in that the special instance of the pokemon would be a different type instead of a different color. Say you ran into a delta Mareep in the wild. The delta would be, say, Fire/Steel instead of Electric. Something like that. You can still get Electric Mareeps, but delta ones would be different types. That was the gist of it. The concept was taken from the pokemon trading cards.

Have a few areas marked out, TONS of concept art traveling between Pokemon Company and Nintendo Co Ltd.

Pics or it didn't happen. How would you even know unless you or your uncle worked for Nintendo?

QUOTE
The development team is “going to put a lot of ideas they have wanted to do for years in this game”.

So they're remaking RBY again, then? :p Sugimori stated that he wanted to simplify the pokemon designs in the future, too, and that the number of pokemon we got in this gen should be the average expected from now on, so if anything, they'll be scaling back next gen.

And finally, we haven't gotten the deluxe version of gen 6 yet. Eternal Floette, Hoopa, Volcanion, and Zygarde's new forms have yet to be distributed. You don't have to worry about gen 7 rumors being possibly true until 6 months after the deluxe XY game(s) come out. Very close, but very far away. Deluxe announcement should be in this May, the release should be October/November, so look for gen 7 rumors around next May at the earliest.
