Global PokédeX Plus Forums _ News and Updates _ COVID-19 Update

Posted by: Zerxer Mar 31 2020, 08:56 PM

Hi all,

I hope you all are healthy and doing well in our world's current situation. There's no doubt that it is a scary period of time right now. No matter where you live, COVID-19 is surely affecting your day to day life. The staff and I are so very grateful for the GPX Community, and you are all in our thoughts. We hope you enjoy the SWSH prize as well as today's login bonus item.

For ways to keep yourself healthy, please refer to https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/index.html as well as https://www.who.int/health-topics/coronavirus#tab=tab_1.

GPX will be donating all of April's ad earnings and user donations to a to-be-determined charity that is helping with COVID-19 relief. Once we know which charity that will be, I will link it here in case users wish to donate directly to it. I am open to suggestions if you would like to suggest one on this thread.

Stay strong, and wash your hands frequently.

A great thing to do in this situation, and I am glad to contribute happy.gif

One thing that has been "good" about this is that it shows that there are far more helpers out there than we assume when we get caught up in the bustle of every day life- and they come to the fore when difficult times come. If there are any health care workers or anyone really working a job made more dangerous or stressful by covid-19 on GPX- you are who I am thinking of the most with that last sentence, and you are appreciated and admired for your work. Thank you happy.gif

Thank you for the thoughts of concern and safety. GPX truly is a wonderful community that cares about its members and always strives to help and be courteous. It is definitely a strange time in the world and a sad time for so many. Pushing politics aside it is heart warming when I hear of positive stories and when the news reports those little moments of feel-good actions. As it has been said before - it is times like these when we see our community come together and the human nature of kindheartedness shine through.

This is a difficult time for so many in financial distress and I am happy to donate this month to help out during this crazy time. During this social distancing and vast stay-at-home Executive Orders, it might be difficult for some to identify how they can help others, but I know that we will all be able to find a way or person or event in which we'll all be able to do a kind little something somewhere for someone.

Please be safe out there, Everybody. If you don't worry for yourself worry for that family member or friend that you know might be at greater risk. And remember it isn't the workers in the stores who are at fault for what can't be found and they are truly trying to find a way to offer to us what we need.

My thanks also to the nurses, doctors, first respondents, and keepers of the peace that can't obey the social distancing. I recognize their strength of character, courage to reach out, and conviction to stay the course.

I'm thankful this site is still active during these times. It's a great distraction from real life.

For those of you with a powerful computer who are looking for a way to help from home, check out this article.

I pop in the forum every once in a while, but it's good to hear updates! Thank you for donating the ad revenue.

Hi all, I wanted to give an update here.

In April, between ads and credit purchases, we raised $380.

I have not yet donated it, but I will soon. Right now I'm deciding between https://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=3807 and https://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=11448.

I'm leaning more towards the latter (CAI), but please let me know by next weekend if you have any thoughts/opinions on the matter!

Thank you all so much!

Also, a quick reminder that a few years ago we also raised and donated $515 to ACLU as can be seen here: https://gpx.plus/aclu

According to Charity Navigator, both charities have 4 out of 4 ratings, so I don't mind which you choose.

Too bad we didn't raise as much as we did for the ACLU, but I'm glad we'll help a good cause.

I've made the donation to https://www.crisisaid.org/. I included an extra 3% to cover their credit card processing fees.

Thank you, GPX, for choosing such a worthy cause to donate the funds to and for sharing those links. I'm proud to be a part of such a wonderful community. love.gif
