How does weather work here?

I have a Galarian Yamask thats lvl 62 but the weather needs to be sandstorm for it to evolve, how does that work exactly?

The weather has a chance to change once per hour; I don't remember the exact minute, but sometime around x:15-x:20 or so, IIRC.

Each weather can only change into a certain subset of other weathers, as listed on the wiki: https://gpxplus.fandom.com/wiki/Weather

Sandstorm in particular is a little nasty, since Windy is the only weather that can turn into Sandstorm. So you want to be keeping an eye out for Windy in hopes that it'll change into Sandstorm the next hour.

The other option is to wait for Aurora weather, which starts upon the day rollover at 11:55pm on a random day sometimes, lasts all day, and allows all weather evolutions to happen no matter what weather they require.
