Rivals, why don't they travel with you |

would it take away from the fun if your rival(s) traveled with you I think it would add fun?

I prefer the often encounter with your rival, though I would like to see some more teamwork with your rival, similar to Lance in Gold and Silver (not really your rival, just the only example I could come up with at the moment).

I wouldn't enjoy it as much. Rivals are supposed to be there as someone tougher then a good portion of other trainers. I see them as a fun challenge to encounter (though it does occasionally bother me sometimes when it seems like I fight them again almost right after I just did).

Well... I really like it that they're more against you, yano... being your RIVAL and all.... But mainly I would think it would depend on the character/personality of the Rival him or her self. Like, I see Gary, he will help out if the situation is dire, and I don't see him trading, as I see him sticking with his Pokemon. As for Silver/Kamon, I see he will NOT help you, he's just to tempered. Brandon or May, I see them traveling with you, and sometimes trading.

I hate your rival in DP, so the answer is no. I prefer rivals in the games being meaner guys who make you feel like you can't beat them, much like Blue or Silver.

Your only good rivals were Silver and Blue, and they would never follow you. If you had a FRIEND that followed you at time to time, and would DB with you, maybe help you out, then leave for a bit, come back, blah blah blah, that would be good. Almost like your doubles partner in Mario Tennis. She/He's not ALWAYS around.

exactly, I wouldn't want them with me all the time, they'd be fighting with you and killin' your shiny's...No, they'd be better off traveling a cave with you occasionally or something...the people who can heal your Pokemon and theirs after every battle seem like a dumb idea, if I could do that, I sure as hell wouldn't be asking random people for help...I'd be untouchable. Having a rival travel with you with his own separate teams of six would be cool for awhile, but not too long, it'd just screw up the game play

You do get to see their pokemon, once when you battle them outside sandgem towm, once when you battle in rock gym town (it's been awhile) once when you battle in Jubilife, once when you battle the rocket leaders in front of palkia/dialga. all the third evo starters you can see if you do all the fights in victory road (if you can call it a road . . . -_-) and if you get the odd keystone and talk to your 30 some-odd people or die against cynthia, you can complete your dex and have non-sinnoh dex pokemon in your very first hall of fame . . . Congratulations

It would be cool to have the counterpart (male/female) following you would be kind of neat...but maybe they should only be together sometimes. It would be awkward if they were with you all the time. ^____^

Why should they travel with you? First of all it would majorly break tradition. Second of all, they're your rival, not your friend that follows you around. (except in the case of 3rd gen, but it's a pretty dumb idea anyway I think)
