Avegalle, the Manga does exist: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Mario_Kun Its a completely legit manga that was on CoroCoro Comic in Japan and was serialized too, starting from Super Mario World and reaching Mario Galaxy.

If not then I'll look for another claim.
