So.. just wondering if it's worth the effort to capture Groudon.. cause I've tried crap ton of times with every ball out there minus master ball cause I'm saving that one for latias/latios/rayquaza (not sure which of the three yet).. so I'm wondering if it's even worth it to keep on fighting and trying to capture Groudon OR if I should just defeat it and move on..
What did you do? And how long did it take you to capture Groudon? -------------------- |

I caught Groudon, eventually... Are you putting it to sleep? That should help a lot.
Ah, Gen 3. Groudon, Kyogre, and the Regis were all annoying as hell, but Rayquaza's worst.. it's constantly healing and confusing itself. But you should definitely save your Master Ball for Latias/ Latios, absolutely, positively, for sure. Trust me... it shows up when you least expect it, and then it runs away, and you're left searching for it endlessly. -------------------- |

Yeah.. I have put it to sleep and then thrown a bazillion pokeballs at it.. but it still escapes. T_T
Which is another thing I don't get in the world of pokemon.. how can pokes escape from balls if they're asleep? :/ Doesn't make sense.. -------------------- |

I'm pretty sure you can't complete Ruby without Groudon. It's not worth your Master Ball, though. I usually get about 25 Ultra Balls, and throw something in the party that'll put it to sleep. Then, I go through the Cave and save right before I face it. If I screw up, it's just a quick soft reset.

No, capturing or defeating, either one works.

Save the M-Ball for Latias/Latios. Those things are PAINS to catch. Rayquaza is quite easy actually.

I chased Latios around Hoenn for a while, doing damage as much as I could. When I had it down really low, I put a Wobbuffet first and used the Map to track that damn thing until I faced it. Wobbuffet's Shadow Tag prevented it from running, and I'd used the EXP Share to level it up to high HP. I had a buttload of Ultra Balls from my Linoone's Pick Up, so I used those. I tend to hold on to Master Balls until I go soft-resetting for a shiny legend. I've got a few saved up on my Ruby cart, I just trade them to whatever game I want to get a shiny legend.

Seriously? Rayquaza's are easy?
I've thought about hunting for a shiny Latias/Latios.. but I dunnooo if I really want to put in the effort.. XP Especially with how hard it seems to get a regular one to begin with.. @_@ -------------------- |

Rayquaza is difficult as hell. Right now I'm just fuming over my game because I can't catch the stupid thing. Only worth a Master ball if it's shiny, though.

Ya know, if you're playing Ruby on your computer, all you had to do is use a 100% catch rate to capture it. o_o Also, I hope your Groudon has a good nature like Brave nature.

Rayquaza is quite easy if done right. Put him to sleep/paralyze him, then beat the crap out of the thing and chuck some Ultra Balls.

Yeah.. but I don't wanna cheat. I'm only playing cause I can't afford to get a DS/Gameboy and all the games. Is Bashful nature for Groudon good? -------------------- |

It really depends if you are migrating Groudon to HG/SS. The physical split and special split isn't in gen 3.

And my recent run into a Latios (which I caught with master ball) has timid nature. Of all the luck.. legends with not so great natures.. Here's hoping Rayquaza and the Regis will have better natures.. X3 It really depends if you are migrating Groudon to HG/SS. The physical split and special split isn't in gen 3. Probably not since I'm just playing it on vba on my Mac, and don't know or think it's possible to migrate things over from one game to another on vba.. or is it..? -------------------- |

Timid isn't so bad for Latios because iirc in gen 3 it was mostly a special fighter anyways and speed is always a good thing in pokemon. Anyways if you are playing via an emulator it isn't that big of a deal given that you are just playing for fun. The effects of natures are mostly subtle and only important if you are playing against other people. And you can't migrate via vba as far as I know. -------------------- |

Yeah, it's just for fun right now.. I'd love to get the actual handheld systems and all Pokemon games one day to play again for reals and more seriously, but for now.. for fun will do.
