OVERVIEW
You get extra (3) points for having aspects of BOTH fire and ice in your sprite.
The theme is as in the title. Fire and Ice. Basically, you must splice a Fire-Type Pokemon and an Ice-Type Pokemon. Do not ask silly questions like "Can I make it a Water Pokemon instead?" The answer will be a thousand times NO. You won't believe how many times I've seen that sort of thing. Another point- I will NOT accept any JPG/JPEG entries. Save them as PNG or GIF for crying out loud. Anyway, I will be accepting TEN (10) entries.

Here's an example entry. Note that I didn't take the time to make the shading match that of Ninetails or pay attention to light sources. It's just an example. However, those are aspects you should tak into consideration when spriting.



The winner will recieve a NOT HACKED Shiny Eevee over Nintewndo Wi-Fi Connection from yours truly.

THE JUDGING

First off, I want to make one thing clear. There is only ONE (1) shiny Eevee, so only the winner will recieve a prize. If you come in second or third, you could ask for some other thing. Anything, really. Be it a Pokemon, a graphic, whatever. All clear? Good. Hint- Highlight the line under OVERVIEW for a tip. Just making sure you read.
I will judge based on three categories. Each category will be judged on a five to one scale (5 being the highest, 1 being the lowest). The categories are as follows

Creativity- In other words, you're likely to get a 1 or 2 if all you did was recolor and add fire to an Ice-Type Pokemon.

Coloring- If you recolor the base sprite or secondary sprite, I'll be looking for whether or not you colored the outlines. Not only that, but use colors that appeal to the viewer's eyes. Don't put a sharp red and light blue next to each other in large quantities. I can personally guarantee you that it won't look good.

Splicing- If the pieces of the secondary Pokemon don't fit perfectly onto the base, break them up. For example. If I had decided to add legs to that Lapras, I had better have made sure the legs were in the same places the fins are now. Same goes with adding the secondary Pokemon's ears. Make it work. And for crying out loud, don't add one tiny aspect of another Pokemon and call it a splice.

The highest score you can obtain is an 18. Go for it!

I loved how well the two Pokemon were spliced together. You can barely tell that Lapras is the base, and the two Pokemon are equally represented. This is how a splice should look. The one point was missed because the outlines on the back legs were somewhat iffy.

JSchweigert- I loved almost everything about your splice, except that it was almost a bit too simple. You would have benefitted from adding another Magmortar aspect, possibly even legs!

Silver Skies- Likewise, most of your sprite was flawless. The only perk was the green color on the legs. It didn't suit the sprite very well IMO and you'd have been better off using the white color.

I thought your sprite was cute and the colors were very relaxing to look at. However, the hole in it's back and the transition between head and body were a tiny bit off. I love it, though!

can we splice more then 2 pokemon together as long as they're all fire and ice

I thought someone might ask that. The answer is yes, of course. That would be fine. But to clarify, there must be at least one fire-type and one ice-type in all splices. Not a fire x fire or ice x ice.

Used Froslass as base, Moltres for fire and color, and Magmortar for arm and color. Had to edit the fire to make it work. Enjoy!

I used Articuno for the base, Moltres for the head flame, tail flame & Beak, Magmortar for the base color, Entei for the crown, and Rapidash for the flames on the wings.

And I assume you can't use another type, even when you have already used a fire and ice type. (just wondering,)

It's been such a long time since I've sprited, and even longer since I entered a contest. I remember there was something like this a year ago..

Anyways, spriting is so hard without a tablet. Since everyone's making it firey, I made it icy.



Yes, it is a ball of lard and blubber with a blowhole. No, it cannot support its weight since it does not have a tail. Yes, those things are its feet. Yes, those things on its sides are its flippers.

It's not too bad. Work on making the pieces that you tack onto the base flow onto the pokemon more. Your sprites will look much better. Accepted, by the way.
