QUOTE(Bogart @ Jan 21 2011, 01:04 AM) *
A glorified chat thread for the members of PANE Uprising. This is basically for topics that don't quite deserve their own topic, but aren't really PM-important either. Also, just to goof off once in a while. Rules of the forum still apply, though. If poor grammar is used / this gets too rowdy, I'll close it.

Don't like it?
Spoiler (click to showhide)

Yeah, from first post of PANE's. There are members of Uprising and not PANE, so it's a bit unfair to not include them. :c

Remember! Please post ALL pane related stuff on the PANE board/thread, not this one!

Posted by: Tymid Feb 12 2011, 06:33 AM

Ohey, look, I can post in both. *does a small jitterbug dance*

I was wondering when this was going to show up in Uprising. grin.gif

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 12 2011, 11:11 AM

WEll, this place seems to be quieter than PANE... I mean, usually, I would of had something started by now :/

Posted by: Tekno Feb 12 2011, 11:16 AM

Yeah, it's a bit slower around these parts and some RPs are faction-specific so it might take you some time to get on one.

Posted by: Ganymede Feb 12 2011, 11:37 AM

Well, we'll make it less slow. >:I Tekno, go find some strobe lights. I'll dig up one of them DJ-things, and Tymid can be the bartender. RAVE TIME.

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 12 2011, 11:48 AM

Uh, I don't think setting up a rave will get Jake to meet up with other Aquas to be fully considered one...

Posted by: Ganymede Feb 12 2011, 11:56 AM

...It's an Aqua rave. Where they meet and greet potential members. sob I'm trying to heeeelp

Posted by: Tekno Feb 12 2011, 11:58 AM

And it's underwater. Don't forget your rebreather.

Posted by: Douken Sota Feb 12 2011, 12:03 PM

Still, I think I got myself a pretty opening team: a water type for aqua stuff, electric for his electrical engineering stuff, and abra to get around.

I also think I will have Jake deal with the 5th gen Pokemon and barely get any (if any) on Douken's end. Not meaning he won't see any.

Posted by: Tekno Feb 12 2011, 12:09 PM

Uh, my team is pretty much a troublemaker's team.

Aipom to steal stuff, Rhyhorn to break stuff, Houndour to bite stuff.

Yep, seems pretty good for Khezu!

Posted by: Cavalcade Feb 12 2011, 12:32 PM

Ben's team isn't very Aqua worthy...

Murkrow seems to chill, Gastly likes to fuck people over, and Mime Jr makes fun of his trainer.

It's all goooood.

Posted by: Tekno Feb 12 2011, 12:37 PM

I'm thinking about Magma taking Khezu's Houndour and then he goes on an epic search to get it back and all that shit.

He's going to drag whoever he's with into it too.

Posted by: Kishk Feb 12 2011, 12:46 PM

*raises glowstrings*

A rave isn't a rave without glowstringing Rebels! grin.gif

My team is basically all-around for now. Once they all evolve, I'll have some better CQC Pokemon. cat.gif

Posted by: Dragonwish2 Feb 12 2011, 01:01 PM

I'm gonna squeeze into this bubble.

Hmm, Torchic to burn things to the ground hide and spy, Poochyena to sniff things out and be annoying, a Togepi to be... cute, and a Snivy to be sneaky. Looks good XD

Posted by: Kishk Feb 12 2011, 02:45 PM

If I ever catch a Snivy, I'm naming him Smugleaf. It's what his real name should have been. >.>

Posted by: Tymid Feb 12 2011, 03:22 PM

...Lucien's a Derpdour, and Omicron just evolved into a Flaafy, so he's mildly gender confused at the moment. The whole...pink, thing. Yeah.

Posted by: Tekno Feb 12 2011, 04:29 PM

...Well, at least he isn't a male Gardevoir. Now that's gender confusing.

Also, I might change my Houndour's name to Lupa during the whole "search and recover" plot. damn i'm so addicted to fallout right now ;^;

Posted by: Yzarc Drowsnam Feb 12 2011, 07:19 PM

What about a female Mr. Mime?

I'll handle up on the drinks, guys, at least until Kamai gets here. I make a mean Tom Collins.

Posted by: Dragonwish2 Feb 12 2011, 07:29 PM

O.O I'll just have a Dr. Pepper, thanks.

O.O Female Mr.Mime... disturbing.

Posted by: Ganymede Feb 12 2011, 09:38 PM

I own both a male Gardevoir and a male Lopunny. awesome.gif

Posted by: Kishk Feb 13 2011, 09:02 AM

Wow... They must be the most sexually frustrated Pokemon in your team. XD

Posted by: SaphireShadows Feb 13 2011, 10:02 AM

I have a female Hariyama on my Platinum Version...and a female Machamp, I think xD I haven't played my Platinum version for a while *stares intently at her SoulSilver version on her DSi* I wonder why...

Posted by: Darkrow Feb 13 2011, 11:27 AM

I have a female Probopass on Platinum, which I STILL need to finish. Damn mom hogging the DS... dry.gif

O.o My friend says that all the time. I thought he was the only person who ever said it too. Of course I know it's not him cause he would never get rid of the G in and ING ending word and replace it with an apostrophe. Plus he would NEVER say something like "NOOOOOOEEEEEES" :P

Still, it's pretty weird...

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Mar 1 2011, 09:05 PM

Maybe since it's finally getting warmer (and hopefully staying warmer), people will finally be able to fight off this recurring flu. I know I've had it twice and it's been atrocious.

I feel sorry for all you sickies....XD

Posted by: Ganymede Mar 1 2011, 09:26 PM

Not sure if it's an actual illness or if my body's just screwing me over again, but lately I've been super exhausted and not hungry. At all. It's to the point where I can't eat more than a single bite of a banana and somehow go off that all day.

Aaand now my throat's all gummed up. Yaaay.

Posted by: Ganymede Mar 2 2011, 05:15 PM

You people and your stable immune systems! I'm pretty sure the combination of early-life pneumonia, asthmatic lungs, allergies to EVERYTHING and a possible brain tumor has completely killed off my immune system. When someone halfway across the state sneezes, I'm out for a week.

yaaaay

Posted by: Kishk Mar 2 2011, 05:21 PM

Does sneezing in another country work too? 'Cause I just sneezed.

Posted by: Living Arrow Mar 2 2011, 05:22 PM

Yowch, everyone! It still amazes me how people get sick more than once in a year - somehow its never been a problem for me. Got the flu maybe once in my life? Missed maybe 3 days of school and 2 days of work... so far. (I bet this is one of those times when I totally get jinxed and get struck with some sort of nightmare virus :s)

On a irl work related note, if any of you get screened positive for MRSA, norovirus or C.diff please package the swab/poo up and post it to me for some reseeeeaaaaarch! XD

Posted by: IceColdGlaceon Mar 2 2011, 07:01 PM

I despise being ill... But thankfully I haven't had any serious illness for a while.

Posted by: Yzarc Drowsnam Mar 2 2011, 07:07 PM

I usually don't get sick so often, but ever since I moved into my apartment with my new roommate, it's happened like three times as often. I think it's 'cause he's a fuckin slob.

You guys watching Modern Family tonight?

Posted by: SaphireShadows Mar 2 2011, 07:46 PM

Yeah, I think having HSP when I was little kinda took a shot to my immune system.

For those of you who don't know what HSP is (I know the name of it, but I can't spell it for the life of me), it starts off as giant bruises (I had mine on the backs of my thighs), then turns into multiple red blotches (blood vessels rupturing). I couldn't walk for a week or two because my legs were so stiff and sore noes.gif I went to the emergency room twice, and if I ever got it again (it's dormant inside me. Or at least that's what my doctor said) it might lead to kidney failure. Thankfully, there's only, like, a 1 in 5000000 chance that I'll ever get it again. I'm just glad it didn't start somewhere else. Like on my face. That would have been dreadful > <

Anyways, no Yzarc, I'm not watching Modern Family. I'm watching Two and a Half Men, teehee : D

Yay! I knooooow. That was a freaky episode. At least the part where the two agents got shot. I was confused for a moment, because the girl was looking into a peep hole in a hotel/apartment door, and then she was talking about how her mother or grandmother made her something for Christmas O _o I was just like 'wut?' And then when the blood ran down her face I freaked out and said, "OMG HEADSHOOOOOT".

It's funny because she got shot....

Posted by: Kamaitachi Mar 7 2011, 12:46 AM

I wonder if Second Chars will be allowed in Uprising too. Maybe an additional rule would be that they can't be in the same faction as your first character?

This sort of thing may or may not help the rps here, since it's a lot more specific on which characters can join rps than PANE is.

Posted by: Ganymede Mar 7 2011, 07:25 AM

I've been hoping for a second character option for Uprising for a while - my brother, Vena Sera, is too ill to play any more and wants me to take his character.

I guess we'll just have to wait for what the new mods say.

Posted by: Vincent Lance Mar 12 2011, 07:53 PM

So who's around?

Posted by: Amissa Mar 13 2011, 02:35 AM

I'm still around. Deyv and i have been discussing the completion of our uprising rp, since we probably only have a post or two each left to do. We've been thinking of how we would like our characters to develop in the future and what our next rp should be like after we eventually finish Devil in Disguise.

Posted by: Douken Sota Mar 13 2011, 02:42 AM

I'm here. Nothing to do, but I'm here.

Posted by: IceColdGlaceon Mar 13 2011, 09:44 AM

Dammit... The RP mods have been selected but they have basically ignored the number of requests that have been made pinch.gif

Posted by: Vincent Lance Mar 13 2011, 09:57 AM

That's not true. They just picked up two new people and re-recruited the old mods.

Which is deserving of an explanation. Since, after all, the whole thing was sorta sprung on us at the last minute for no reason.

Posted by: 2gamers Mar 13 2011, 10:25 AM

For clarification, Master Houndoom and Umbrae Calamitas are the Uprising mods. Everone else is restricted to PANE only. Whether more Uprising mods are selected is probably going to be up to MH and UC.

Posted by: Kishk Mar 13 2011, 11:40 AM

But weren't you an Uprising Moderator as well?

P.S.: I'm also here, though I've been having trouble coming up with my next post on my RP.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Mar 13 2011, 12:20 PM

Before all of this happened, there were only roleplay mods. All the mods were mods for both RPs. After, it was decided that there would be two sets of mods, one for PANE and one for Uprising. There are Five PANE mods, which are Bogart, Living Arrow, 2gamers, Kamaitachi, and Tymid, and two Uprising mods, which are myself and Umbrae Calamitas.

I am in the process of looking over possible changes and suggestions that have come through for Uprising, and looking into grading any RPs that were left undone or have finished since all of this started, and I ask for some patience in that.

Posted by: IceColdGlaceon Mar 13 2011, 01:01 PM

Righto. Thanks for clearing everything up.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Mar 24 2011, 02:45 PM

Things have been hectic, but hopefully we are well on our way to being back on track.

Earlier in the thread someone mentioned that certain suggestions were not taken into account. I had believed they were the further requests for second characters and partners, and have addressed those accordingly, but please send me a reminder, either in this thread or through PM, if I have missed taking anything into account.

I've been having some computer problems lately (for about the last week), so I just want to apologize to everyone who's been waiting on me and thinking "Where did Amissa go?" I've finally managed to beat my computer into acting right, and I'm trying to catch up on everything.

Posted by: IceColdGlaceon Aug 25 2011, 08:34 PM

That's cool. Computer issues can be a bitch.

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Aug 25 2011, 09:20 PM

Suck, Amissa. My laptop decided to finally die two days ago, so until my new computer gets here, I'm stuck working on the PC, which is actually the computer used for business. So... let's hope things go as planned and I get my new computer tomorrow.

Posted by: Amissa Aug 25 2011, 09:39 PM

Yeah, I was using a different computer to check in every now and then, but I wasn't able to post or reply to pms. Getting a new computer is a lot of fun though. I love the one that I've got. The computer itself is great, but my internet connection was gone for about a week because my internet provider stinks. As soon as the internet started working, my monitor stopped working. Then I'm all WTF? and it took me several days to figure out what the problem was and fix it. I also had to figure out that the reason my mouse malfunctioned (technology is just hating me lately) was because it needed new batteries.

Finally though, finally, everything works. clap.gif Hurray!

Edit: Shortly after I wrote this, I found that my speakers weren't working. Well, now I've fixed them too. Take that, technology! You won't defeat me!

So what's the deal with Happy Accidents? Not many people submitted entries noes.gif

I'll admit, it was a tough subject.

Posted by: Ganymede Aug 29 2011, 05:28 PM

I was going to write something, but I couldn't think of anything serendipitous to write about with Spider. Then college came up and I had to spend hours every day at school studying for a test that was on the due date for the contest.

I did enjoy reading the entries that were posted, though. I spent a good ten minutes laughing at Kamai's entry before falling off the futon and landing on my boyfriend's dog.

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Aug 31 2011, 03:01 PM

My apologies for the grading for Happy Accidents taking so long. There has been an issue at my job and I've been pulling double shifts for the past week and a half.

Grades will be up at some point this weekend. Tomorrow if I can manage it, but this weekend at the latest.

Posted by: Amissa Sep 1 2011, 01:29 AM

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Sep 7 2011, 01:20 PM

I don't know where you're all located, but I hope everyone is staying safe. We've got major flooding here and they're currently closing all of the roads that lead to or from our house - so we're basically stranded. Because of the weather, I may lose power, though, so we'll see how it goes. Hopefully not.

In any case, stay safe, everyone.

Posted by: Ganymede Sep 7 2011, 02:17 PM

Oh, man. I hope you'll be okay, UC. Most of the rivers here have flooded up to the bridges and a lot of the roads are collapsing. We live on a hill so we'll be fine, although we've been losing power more often.

Posted by: Yzarc Drowsnam Sep 7 2011, 02:29 PM

Crazee fires all over Texas too.

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Sep 7 2011, 02:58 PM

Oh yeah, Ganymede, I'll be fine. We live in the mountains, so we're high up. The roads up to here are all flooded over. A few creeks and rivers flooding, but it's mostly the pastures-turned-lakes (within the past 3 days) that are cresting the roads. Our driveway may wash out. That might be interesting.

On the plus side, Divine Intervention has declared that I have no work or school tomorrow! WOO!

If the cats allow, I shall sleep in.

Posted by: Tekno Sep 7 2011, 03:02 PM

Nothing ever happens here... And by nothing I mean nothing. Apart from an earthquake that tore the capital in half in 1755, nothing much happened since. Yay for boring countries. Hope you guys are fine, though.

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Sep 7 2011, 03:59 PM

What country are you in?

Posted by: Tekno Sep 7 2011, 04:04 PM

Portugal. Not much more to say about it, sadly.

Posted by: Jonahman10 Sep 8 2011, 06:23 AM

Our School is delayed due to flooding, though there really isn't that much danger.

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Sep 8 2011, 05:15 PM

Heh. They've closed my university until Monday (I hope they move it until Tuesday; I'd like to not have to go golfing in gym class. Blegh.), both main roads that come to my house, and some of the other roads around here no longer exist. It's like living in a very wet Twilight Zone.

I'm rather glad we live on a mountain. grin.gif

Fall TV is amazing

Mondays: How I Met Your Mother (I think MH is a fan...) Castle's on then, too, but I stopped watching it. I want to like it, since Nathan Filion is my boy, but it's just not that great.

Tuesdays: Nothing I'm a huge fan of. I gave New Girl a shot because I'm kind of in love with Zooey Deschanel. Raising Hope is pretty good, my sister kinda got me into that. But those positives are more than balanced out by Glee. I hate that show so much.

Wednesdays: Modern Family and Criminal Minds. Modern Family is so much better, but I do enjoy Criminal Minds, even though it's gotten noticeably less good in the later seasons (More about the violence, less about the profile)

Thursdays: HOLY SHIT YESS Community (hilarious), Parks and Recreation (amazing), The Office (so good), It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (one of the best shows on TV), Archer (very funny)

And I'm also giving Person of Interest a shot, since the first few episodes were pretty good. Usually not a huge fan of action TV shows, since they tend to be...Bad. I can let bad movies slide if there are lots of explosions and boobs or something, but shows are too fiscally limited to have as good explosions and too censored to have boobs. But every once in a while you'll get a good one. This is no Firefly, but it's got an interesting premise, and I've decided to give it a season or at least a few more episode to convince me.

Anyone else super excited about Fall TV!?? Since I graduated, my only responsibility now is work, so I super look forward to watching TV every night.

Posted by: Dragonwish2 Oct 2 2011, 08:10 AM

Sundays; Some recorded movies from specials on the weekends, nothing much. (Mythsbusters had an allday showing recently. 12 hours (16 if you count my mis-named How It's Made) of awesome!)

Mondays: Used to be Design Star, now it's recorded cartoons or old movies (again).

Tuesday: Ditto. Nothing special.

Wednesdays: Dance Moms, which, though I hate how it's centered on angry people, it's very interesting.

Thursdays. PROJECT RUNWAY!!! (Go Joshua/Lindsey Woot!~)

Fridays: Rent a movie night sometimes, otherwise we find a cool movie on and watch it.

Saturdays: Funny movies all day, and funny videos. (Last night's special: Legally Blonde)

Mostly old movies, unless a special new show in a disney series comes up. But then again, I'm a teen. I'm at school for 6 hours, volleyball practice for two, and then I get home and try to eat, read, do homework, watch tv, and squeeze in computer time in the three hours I have.

Posted by: Ganymede Oct 2 2011, 12:17 PM

I'm not a huge fan of tv, but I do have certain shows I try not to miss.

Tuesday: NCIS

Thursday: The Big Bang Theory

Saturday: Doctor Who (although, after the seriously disappointing series finale, it won't be on again until next year)

Usually when I really get the urge to watch something, I root through my horror movie collection or go to my boyfriend's house and commandeer Netfilx.

"The Coder"- Rachel Lore, Rebellion.

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Mar 3 2012, 05:25 PM

Random question. As Master Houndoom and I have been trying to figure out a plot that would work with our small community for an RP event, I thought I may as well ask who would be interested in participating in such an event and which character would you play as (for the sake of comparing faction numbers)? Suggestions are also welcome, of course.

Posted by: ShinyRalts Mar 3 2012, 05:38 PM

I would, and obviously as Marcia, as i have no one else. That is, unless it happens to occur during the last week of June or the month of July. Then, I fear, I will be inactive.

Posted by: Dragonwish2 Mar 3 2012, 11:13 PM

I would adore an event! And Of course I would play as the one and only Rachel Lore.

Posted by: Kamaitachi Mar 4 2012, 01:45 AM

EVENT!?!?! Absolutely! I'd enter with Kanoa, unless for some reason you needed fewer Magmas.

Posted by: FirePower Mar 4 2012, 08:35 AM

This is going to be one of those times when I have my hands full with other RPs, but I join anyways because it seems so fun and I really want to do it, ain't it? I'll probably join in as Ares when the event comes around.

Posted by: Kishk Mar 6 2012, 05:24 PM

I'd love to participate in an event! grin.gif I'd be playing my only character, Kishk Akrias (Rebellion).

Posted by: Yzarc Drowsnam Mar 6 2012, 08:02 PM

I'd do it. Sounds fun.

Posted by: Hydrophobia Mar 6 2012, 08:08 PM

Depends on how busy I am at the moment. I might go with a second character if I get one by the time the event is up.

Actually, I'll take the time to ask it here; in the second character application thread it says 2 RPs with 10 or more score OR 3 RPs with a 13 score.

I'm assuming it's either just one or that the numbers are inverted?

Posted by: Master Houndoom Mar 6 2012, 08:34 PM

It is only the first one. Mainly 'cause I can't remember what the second one was about. happy.gif

Posted by: Hydrophobia Mar 6 2012, 08:38 PM

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that out.

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Mar 7 2012, 10:31 PM

Heh.

As I said before, we've not decided yet, Master and I. We had a few ideas, but because we have a small number of members, we can't do anything as large as PANE can manage. We are taking suggestions, of course, from any of you lot, into consideration, and I always have a few things running rampant through my mind. We're trying to piece something together.

Posted by: Douken Sota Mar 7 2012, 10:44 PM

Sector war?

Posted by: Vincent Lance Mar 9 2012, 10:34 AM

Legendary Pokemon hunts are always classic options. It's Magma and Aqua, so that wouldn't be out of the question at all.

Posted by: Dragonwish2 Mar 9 2012, 05:12 PM

With the Rebellion hunting down Rayquaza, of course. If the plot was well played, we could twist it up and make it a very interesting play off of the RY/SA/EM games.

Posted by: Kishk Mar 11 2012, 11:55 AM

Umm... Maybe some really mysterious (and rich) person invites a bunch of operatives from all 3 factions to some masquerade ball or the likes. Sort of like in Clue (you guys know the storyline of Clue, right?), except without murder and some other mystery or challenge in its place (perhaps a treasure hunt or some other activity?).

This, best idea of heard yet. To expand on it, The rich person is some radical that's believes the only way to end the war in Noverus is to either behead all three organizations or make them join forces into one organization with some semblance of democracy. The party turns into a trap, locking everyone inside. The basement is set to blow, burying everyone inside alive. They must navigate booby trapped rooms to get to the bottom. They'll either work together or perish.

It's like an evil version of Castle Vonmoto back in PANE oh.gif!

Posted by: Dragonwish2 Mar 11 2012, 01:28 PM

That was what Castle Vonmoto was like? Woah. Still, I love the Clue/trap idea. Life or death in a perilous situation, but survival means working with your worst enemies... it has my vote alright. Plus, it doesn't have to have a huge amount of people, which is a great trait since we lack the size PANE has. Now, we only need a location and some plot details to really spice it up, which I'm sure can be done.

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Mar 11 2012, 01:30 PM

*points to Kiskk and Toogee and looks at Master Houndoom* HA! Ya see? HA!

That was almost the exact same idea I had a while back (though I hadn't thought of a booby-trapped basement, that's a pretty good idea).

Kinks must be worked out! But I'm happy with this. grin.gif

Posted by: ShinyRalts Mar 11 2012, 09:19 PM

You have no idea how much I like that idea. That's really awsome!

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Mar 11 2012, 10:17 PM

We are, of course, open to any other suggestions anyone might have, still. happy.gif But I do like this one.

Posted by: Protoman Jul 13 2012, 01:22 AM

Well, I have a pretty good idea in mind that I have been talking to the others about as well.

Pokemon Black/White 2 will be coming out in the spring, and according to certain sources, part of Unova is frozen over. The whole thing dealing with Kyurem and what it truly is and all of that jazz, yadda yadda blah blah.

Well, I was thinking to myself about how part of Unova is frozen and an idea came to me...blizzard combat. Not just any kind of blizzard, I mean a massive snowstorm hits Noverus, making it snow for months in Uprising time. All of this will be leading up to why everything is snowing and becoming frozen over, but in the beginning, it is simply a change of scenery. Eventually, the storm will blow over and things will become more stable. The two main things that will be a factor here are tactics within the snow and shaky alliances in order to save each other from the horrible conditions.

Posted by: Dragonwish2 Jul 13 2012, 09:40 AM

That sounds a bit like "The Long Winter" from the Little House on the Prairie Series... except the people are all against each other. I like it. It would also be a great opportunity to catch Ice Pokemon, for those who are wanting to. I can very well imagine allying with others to survive the blizzard.

When you say, 'All of this will be leading up to why everything is snowing and becoming frozen over, but in the beginning, it is simply a change of scenery,' do you mean that eventually the teams will work to figure out the cause of the huge storm once it spirals out of control?

That could become apparant to all teams if the water froze over. Even Magma would realize the severity of it, though I think Aqua would be paranoid of the possibility that the river could freeze earlier on. The Rebels would also suffer as well if they don't have enough supplies to hold out. Thus, they will all have to ally... but that doesn't mean a few backs won't be stabbed in the end.

That's exactly what I'm referring to. It's basically a perfect reference to the term "the tip of the iceberg", which also could be the name of the event. wink.gif

Posted by: Hydrophobia Jul 13 2012, 10:27 AM

Cue the Titanic jokes.

I like the sound of that. Differs from the usual stuff we see in these events. It turns a social event to a struggle for survival where if people don't group up then they'll likely face some difficulty. All we need now are the zombies.

Posted by: Protoman Jul 13 2012, 10:33 AM

Precisely. After everything thaws out, however, they'll be back at each others throats.

Posted by: Dragonwish2 Jul 13 2012, 10:35 AM

I could see that. 'Tip of the Iceberg', with the underlying statement: 'It's gonna be a LONG winter...'

Whatever you do, Don't. Let. Go.

Seriously.

Posted by: Hydrophobia Jul 13 2012, 10:38 AM

Yay for references that I don't get! teehee.gif

Anyways, what would be the incentive to get out of the bases, though? People would likely need to be outside a cut off from accessing the base for this to work, I think.

Posted by: Dragonwish2 Jul 13 2012, 10:52 AM

Well they could get stuck in the storm with other teams because of:

A) Trivial missions that in the end won't matter.
B) Investigation of how the other teams are reacting to the storm (and whether or not they're behind it).
C) Gathering supplies.
D) Running off, either thinking they can grab a candy bar, chasing a runaway Pokemon of theirs, or being the stupid teenagers that they are they think they can somehow fix everything by going on a mystical quest out into the blizzard. because they wanted to...

and then the adults follow the stupid teenagers, thinking they can slap some sense into them...

Posted by: Protoman Jul 13 2012, 12:03 PM

Majority of it will be them probably on a routine mission that gets them caught in the heaping cold front. If people are still in their RPs, then it would affect them afterwards, possibly a snowflake here or there, but nothing too major. Unless of course the character just wants to be thrusted into the blizzard while they are on their mission.

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Jul 14 2012, 07:31 AM

And when do the zombies come in? grin.gif

Posted by: Protoman Jul 14 2012, 09:43 AM

Right when we make it into Raccoon City. That would be a bit dream-like, wouldn't it?

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Jul 14 2012, 09:18 PM

Mad miltank disease!

Posted by: Protoman Jul 14 2012, 10:48 PM

So does that mean that Novelty Pokemon will make an apperance?

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Jul 14 2012, 11:25 PM

Doubtful. I was just making a reference to Zombieland.

Best zombie movie EVER.

Eeeeeevvveeeerrrrr.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Jul 14 2012, 11:27 PM

Never shall novelty pokemon make an appearance in Uprising! NEVER!

Until they do.

And I think Shaun of the Dead was better.

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Jul 14 2012, 11:30 PM

Shaun of the Dead didn't have a sarcastic, half-mad cowboy with a dark past and a cowboy hat. And lots of big, noisy guns. grin.gif

Posted by: Master Houndoom Jul 14 2012, 11:42 PM

Zombieland didn't have a snarky, half oblivious brit and possibly the second best love story in any male-targeted movie.

Posted by: Protoman Jul 14 2012, 11:50 PM

I just heard zombie apocalypse and made an assumption.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Jul 15 2012, 12:40 AM

You never assume about zombies. It makes and ass of U and BRAAAIIIINS

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Jul 15 2012, 12:53 AM

What was the first best love story?

Posted by: Master Houndoom Jul 15 2012, 01:25 AM

Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven. Subtle, but there once you notice it.

Posted by: Protoman Jul 15 2012, 01:35 AM

Gone with the Wind. The book was downright amazing. Movie wise, Casanova or GWTW.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Jul 15 2012, 10:56 AM

I meant movies strictly targeting male audiences.

Posted by: Hydrophobia Jul 15 2012, 10:59 AM

So, how are we gonna decide? Vote thread or something?

White Chicks.

Hydro: Someone could set that up, sure. But this is just conjecture and opinion right now.

Yzarc: You lose ALL your points!

Posted by: Dragonwish2 Jul 15 2012, 11:13 AM

Spring Fling was a great teen love book. Though Snape tops all tragic love stories.

Zombie Apocalypse rules! Is it the Gelth or the Cybermen?

Posted by: Protoman Jul 15 2012, 11:17 AM

Targeting Male Audiences only? Die Hard. No man who didn't love his wife would kill terrorists for her.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Jul 15 2012, 12:34 PM

Agreed. Shaun of the Dead has a similar premise, love-story-wise.

Posted by: Hydrophobia Jul 15 2012, 12:55 PM

Does Dragonheart count as a bromance?

Posted by: Master Houndoom Jul 15 2012, 01:13 PM

For the purposes of this discussion, no. But since this is a general discussion thread, nothing says you can't bring it up anyway grin.gif

Posted by: Hydrophobia Jul 15 2012, 01:18 PM

Okay... sad.gif

Just thought I'd bring it up because it's one of my favorite movies and I haven't heard or seen any of those movies you guys talked about. I mean, I've heard about Casablanca, of course, but I never really watched it.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Jul 15 2012, 03:12 PM

I'm not even 100% sure how the subject got to that "love stories in male-targeting movies". It was an article I read last night, and I was intrigued.

Bromance movies have been around for a while. The entire Lethal Weapon series is a 4 movie Bromance!

Posted by: Umbrae Calamitas Jul 15 2012, 05:05 PM

Lethal Weapon is a great series. And bromances have been around forever, but to be honest, I'll take them over romances anyday. There's just something pure and truly awesome about the power of friendship. Sherlock Holmes has one of the best, with Sherlock and Watson, and long before the new movies came out.

Also, overmentioned as it is in life, Titanic had a really great bittersweet love story.

As for the plans for this mass RP, right now, let's just discuss thoughts, desires, wants, etc.

Posted by: Protoman Jul 15 2012, 05:20 PM

I want to see Shenanigans in the Snowstorm. It kinda sounds like a movie title.

Posted by: Hydrophobia Jul 15 2012, 06:05 PM

I was so bored that I made a sprite for Khezu's attire during a snowstorm. God, I haven't sprited in ages.

This is a pretty cool theme.

...I'll show myself out now.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Jul 15 2012, 06:28 PM

Hydro, you should know bad puns are part and parcel of the Uprising experience.

I will admit, that one DID leave me cold, but then I chilled and let it slide.

Let's see this sprite!

Posted by: Hydrophobia Jul 15 2012, 06:40 PM

Icy what you did there, MH.

And here's the sprite.

The right hand is kinda screwed up but it's the best I could find. There may also be some shading problems but whatever, just did this for fun. Don't have to be fancy anymore now that I gave up on competing in contests. It's just a basic, somewhat snow-camouflaged attire.

Posted by: Dragonwish2 Jul 16 2012, 10:30 AM

Ah, you guys took all the puns.

That's a great sprite, Hydro! It sure would be cool if we could have a big winter Uprising pic of the mass RP.

And you can always say the right hand froze up.

Posted by: Hydrophobia Jul 16 2012, 10:54 AM

I dunno, we could also say there's a hand breaker on the loose and we need to pine him down. He could use a pokemon with big claus.

These puns are getting out of hand now.

Posted by: Master Houndoom Jul 16 2012, 02:56 PM

How did you finger that out? I couldn't put my thumb on it, but you totally nailed it!

So I have noticed how little participation we have in Uprising - really, there is only afew of you - and it has occurred to me that it might be time to end Uprising and bring forth something new. Since you guys are the ones still playing here, I wanted your opinion on this. If we do it, it will be a completely new story, a completely new world.

Let me know what you think. I have a few ideas in the works.

Posted by: Kamaitachi Feb 10 2014, 03:16 PM

End it and bring forth something new. The downward trend in Uprising has been a long one, so perhaps it's time to lay it to rest.
