how do i return someone's accidental shelter release? i think they released a shiny accidentally, is there a way i can check with admins to make sure it was an accident?

I'm glad you're being considerate. However, it's impossible to give someone a Pokemon or trade on this site, only releasing to the shelter. My guess is the person who released it knew that they were releasing it on purpose. Some of us have accidentally released shinies, and we just have to resign our fate and accept our mistake, lol.

You can hold onto the shiny, or release it, but there's no guarantee it will go back to the original person, since anyone can pick it up.

There is in fact a guarantee that it will never go back to its original owner. The Egg Shelter and Safari Zone are coded to prevent you from seeing Pokemon you previously owned.
