All forms of Rock really, but I find myself liking anything that's fast and loud.

Synthpop. Specifically synthpop from the 80's. (Do they even call it synthpop anymore? I seem to remember my friend calling it electronic music or something like that, but then again she's not really that into it.)

I like rock, country, and pretty much anything else. I'm open to all types of music, even screamo and rap. Lol. I even like music from other countries.

stoner/doom metal, brutal/tech death metal, sludge, crust, hardcore punk, powerviolence, grindcore, noise rock, prog, experimental/avant-garde, jazz, hip-hop, industrial (the noisier side of it a la einsturzende neubauten anyway, not too fond of the synthier side of the genre.)

Melodic Death Metal and Black Metal, mostly. I do like most sub-genres of Heavy Metal but I mainly like Melodeath & Black.

QUOTE ^man i've wanted to try getting into melodic death metal for a while but i don't know where to start. any artists or records you can recommend from the genre? Hm, try listening to any of these - they're some of my favourite Melodeath bands and their best song (imo) by them. Arch Enemy (End of the Line... but check out their 'Rise of the Tyrant' album too!) Children of Bodom (Children of Decadence) Kalmah (Hades) Amon Amarth (Runes to my Memory) Norther (Victorious One) Wintersun (Beautiful Death) There are many awesome Melodeath bands. I'd advise youtubing those songs and/or youtubing "Top Ten Melodeath bands". Those videos were useful when I first got into the genre. Some other bands that I like are: Nightrage Winterburst (even though they're more melodic Black Metal than Death) Eluvietie Scar Symmetry In Flames Sonic Syndicate (even though they're turning more to Metalcore =/, their Eden Fire album is amazing though) Hope this helped! |

I'm, before anything, a fan of classical music -probably because I play a couple instruments myself ><;
but I also like to listen to anything that is... listen-able really. I mostly preffer metal and rock though, if nothing because they actually sound like music unlike most newer genres. That doesn't mean I don't find the work of other artists that focus on other genres impressive as well. My favourite artist is Chopin (always) but as for more modern-age ones I like Eluveitie, Ensiferum, Wintersun, the GazettE, Akira Yamaoka, Porno Graffitti as well as some amazing Greek artists many people won't have heard of; Trifono, Alkinoos Ioannidis, Alkistis Protopsalti, Haris Alexiou... -------------------- |

Indie/Folk is how I roll now. I hear too much of about rock, so that ruined it for me..
I love listening to different music than everyone else, makes me feel different, and I like being different. -------------------- "Violence, Lust and Betrayal" And so is the Golden City blackened with each step you take in my Hall. Everything almost no one likes or knows about. XD
Mad Caddies, Eiffel 65, Boards of Canada, Mt Eden, probably not ringing any bells. Electronic, soft/mixed ska, and some pop. |
