Plain and simple, I need a NDS compatible router.
I've searched the net, and anything USEFUL is this(which is badly out of date). I previously HAD a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector (Buffalo), but it decided to not work, so I decided to get a router. Some people I've PMed about this stuff, but now I think I have to ask everyone.

I have 256Mbps connection, a Motorola SB5101 SURFboard Cable Modem, with Ethernet(to computer), USB, Cable in it's back, and on my computer I have 6 USB ports and 2 ports that LOOKS like a phone cable. I am looking for a cheap router, $50 max, that can do the job. I really need to know if I just need a antennor, or a new modem with one.

Now I turn to GTS+ for a bit of do's & don't's, brands to look out for, general advice, and some humour.

Rock on!

You can buy a router, though I don't really know of any cheap ones. Ones that are reliable (from experience) are belkin ones, though they can go for upwards of AU$50 to AU$100.

A router will go between your PC and the Modem.

Though, if you want to get really cheap, it's possible to turn some wireless cards into a router. You just need to make sure it uses the rt2500 or rt61 chipset.

Then again, that's kinda trickier compared to simply plugging a box in between your PC and modem.

I think that the one I have cost around a hundred U.S. dollars...... But there were 2 other options below that.......

Thanks Muck, that is perfect. Now this thread can be a general discussion on routers, which ones to buy, and etc....

I use a Belkin Wireless G Router for my Wii, DS, and PSP and never have problems with it. Only cost me $25 (Canadian). And if you live in America well then it will probably cost you even less. The range is just fine for me too. It goes around the entire middle and upper floor of my house.

Ok, I'm getting the Belkin Wireless G Router for my birthday, so all those trades and battles can now go ahead!

Thanks to all that have posted here!

I use a Linksys router and it tends to hold up pretty well, The modem tends to go down more often then the router.

I love it as it is very easy to set up for my DS.

I've done a bit more searching came up with this: http://www.myds.com.au/GuideDetail.aspx?id=50
It is an australian website, but it has all the brands, ratings and comments. I wish I found this a long time ago. sad.gif
