If I have a shiny Haunter (shinys are on the right of the original) Do you think that I should evolve it into a gengar? Or should I keep it like it is because shiny gengar is just so much less better than shiny haunter? I guess my basic question is, Should I evolve, because my shiny haunter is much cooler than regular haunter, but shiny gengar is not much different from regular gengar, yet gengar is better? (Sorry for terrible English)

Gengar is better in stats, adding 15 to all stats of Haunter, minus Sp. Def., which is 20 more.
Of course, Shiny Haunter looks so much more awesome. Your choice, still. -------------------- |

I agree that the Haunter looks cooler, but Gengar is awesome! I have to admit I probably would evolve because of the benefits of a Gengar over Haunter. I'm a bit of a power-gamer, I guess!
Congrats on your good fortune, by the way! Wish I'd have a bit more luck with Shinies lately! I had 6 - YES SIX - in my Emerald game - all cheat-free!: 2 Beautiflies (caught as Wurmples within 5 minutes of each other and with the same Nature!), a Mightyena (caught as Poochyena), a Magneton (caught as Magnemite), a Linoone (caught as Zigzagoon) and a Crobat (caught as Zubat). Migrated 'em all to my Pearl game (yes, copies) and had my DS, Pearl and Emerald stolen over Thanksgiving break. -------------------- The Brave Are Few And The Road Is Long... |

Nah, If you like it the way it is, you shouldn't evolve it. Just my opinion. I personally like to keep my shinies unevolved. Though I have a shiny machamp I caught myself as machoke. It evolved when I traded it.

I personally prefer Gengar over Haunter.

I have a Shiny Haunter and I'd never dream of evolving it. Shiny Haunter looks so much better. Keep it if you ask me

No way, evolve it. A shiny gengar is still a shiny, and frankly the only difference between haunter and shiny haunter is that one has a blue outline. To me, that's not worth much keeping it's form over. But with Gengar, his whole body is a different shade.
Anyway, you're eventually going to get bored with your shiny anyway if you only have it for the looks. At least evolve it for the good stats. This is just my opinion. If you really like haunters over gengars, then keep it. I sometimes keep my pokemon unevolved just because I like the look. I had a cubone that I kept unevolved until it reached about level 80 or so. Then I felt like making it stronger so I let it evolve. I don't really miss her old form. She looks generally the same to me anyway, with better stats as a bonus. -------------------- |

In my opinion, Shiny Haunter is better than Shiny Gengar, but normal Gengar is better than normal Haunter

Shiny Hunter looks impressive, really.
But I prefer Gengar, in my view is more useful in combat, and has better stats in the end. -------------------- GPX+ Groups (click to show ) |

If you really want a Gengar for stats, breed the haunter and raise a new one. The whole appeal of shinies is purely aesthetic. If you think shiny Haunter looks better, then there is no reason to evolve it at all.

I'd say go with the people who say breeding. If you've got another shiny Pokemon in the same egg group (or a shiny ditto), maybe you could have a shiny Haunter and Gengar.

I have a shiny Gengar and love it. In fact, it got me through all the trainer battles in Claire's Gym and beat out both her Dragonair and he was at the same level.
