The main arena, a gargantuan Colosseum overlooking the vast sea, has separated into 8 fields, each with its own set of stands, while the higher seats have a lovely view of all eight battles. Each battle is televised on the giant screens located along the walls, giving spectators the nitty gritty close-up views of each battle.
The battles to come would be fierce, and with so many raging simultaneously, and to be distracted by the neighboring fights could easily spell a loss. The Match for this field was slated for Jill Laurent and Hunter Price. The field appeared to be a lush, grass covered field, with pokemon topiary scattered around the field. Dotted around the field were also some balloons, floating like little landmines, tethered to the ground. Upon popping, any number of brightly coloured gasses would escape into the air, obscuring vision around the field. The referee, holding the trademark flags, floated nearby on what could only be described as a hovering disc; yet another technological marvel of Daioh Scientists. The ref tapped his fingers on his poketch, which revealed a rotating triangular pyramid on the main screen. Once it stopped rotating, it revealed a large number 3: "This will be a three on three battle conducted in Triple Battle Style. If one of the combatants falls, the reserve must be sent in immediately. Trainers, summon your pokemon now!" This battle seemed ready to erupt. The stakes? Continuing participation in the tournament. The crowd roared in anticipation. -------------------- Song Stuck in My Head:~*~Blank Space - Ariana Silvanas (Postmodern Jukebox Cover)~*~ Pane (click to show ) Uprising (click to show ) |

"Consolation bracket? " Hunter groaned, taking a pause from eating his post-loss ice cream to read the text message that was sent to his phone. "More like the losers. This sucks." He shuffled around on the stone bench he sat on as he struggled to find a comfortable position. At his side, Elekid stood next to the bench, his glare fixated straight ahead.
"Why should we even go, Elekid?" Hunter complained as he took another lick of his ice cream. Elekid shrugged. "Thanks for the help. Well, we might as well go anyways. It is a battle, after all, and we need all the experience we can get." He stood up from his seat on the bench and tossed his half eaten ice cream into the garbage and began to drag himself to the arena. The arena was a lush, grass covered field, with Pokemon topiary scattered around the field. Around the field were also little balloons, tethered to the ground and floating in the air, blowing around with each gentle breeze of wind. Hunter scampered into the arena and made his way over to the podium, settling himself as his opponent did the same. The referee, acknowledging that both contestants had reached the arena, started to address the two trainers as they readied themselves at their podiums. Floating nearby on what seemed to be a floating disk, the ref hit a couple buttons on his Poketch, revealing a rotating triangular pyramid on the main screen above the arena. Once the pyramid stopped rotating, it revealed a large number 3. "This will be a three on three battle conducted in triple battle style! The battle will go on until all three of a trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle! Trainers, summon your Pokemon now!" Sparing no time, Hunter immediately grabbed two of the Pokeballs at his side and tossed them in front of the podium, revealing his Hitmontop and Skorupi. Upon his comrades being released, Elekid sprinted out from besides his trainer to join his teammates as they geared up for battle. -------------------- |

Jill swiftly made her way to her arena, where she would be facing Hunter Price. Ultimately, she didn't have any additional strategy from her battle with Tag. She only hoped it would work this time around.
She nodded at the referee when he mentioned the rules of the battle. Another triple battle, didn't seem too bad. This time she had a few extra abilities at her disposal and Hunter would likely not expect her pretty aggressive strategy. "Good luck, have fun," she said without enthusiasm. Her eyes locked on her opponent's, though she didn't say anything beyond that. She just wanted to make it clear that she was here to win. And with that, she tossed out her three pokeballs. Thus appeared Pele (Ponyta), Vinyl (Weepinbel) and Flare (Vulpix). Immediately upon their release, the area directly near them began heating up. The light intensified and the fire on Pele's back began to rage. Vinyl received a notable boost to his energy as well, and Flare's power began to surge. This was Flare's ability, Drought, at work, and it synergized with her team particularly well. Thoughts were racing through her head. Focus Fire was the first tactic that she thought of, but distributing damage most effectively was also viable. At the start, it just made too much sense to try and cut it down to a 2v3. "Pele, use Flame Charge on Skorupi. Flare, use Flame Burst on Skorupi." She considered having Vinyl also focus Skorupi, but determined two Sunny Day boosted super effective attacks against the bug type would be enough to knock it out. Vinyl would be better suited preparing for the next leg of the battle. "Vinyl, use Growth." Vinyl was the first to act, as the fastest on either team, due to his Chlorophyll boost. Pele began charging Skorupi, the flames around her becoming more and more intense, and her speed increasing over the course of the charge. Flare was just behind her, shooting a large, but less intense, burst of flames. The flame, upon landing, would then explode and hit all surrounding targets. -------------------- [spoiler=PANE - Justin Smart] Justin Smart Profile Current Level Post Wiki Currently In: Zoobreak! Jill Laurent wasted no time launching attack, as her Ponyta and Vulpix charged forward, their attacks intensified by the sunny conditions. Looking to capitalize on fire's advantage over bug type, the two fire types both launched attacks at Skorupi.
"Skorupi! Try and dodge the attacks!" Skorupi jumped in the air, narrowly avoiding the Flame Charge attack from the Ponyta but was met with a strong burst of fire, exploding as it connected with the Scorpion Pokemon in mid air. The flame, upon hitting its target, shot out, connecting with both Hitmontop and Elekid as well. Skorupi hit the ground but was quick to gain its composure as Laurent's two fire types returned to their trainer. "Skorupi! Use Cross Poison on Ponyta! Elekid and Hitmontop, use Electro Ball and Rapid Spin on Vulpix!" Hitmontop sprung into action, preforming a headstand and spinning extremely fast as it charged the opponent. Meanwhile, Elekid and Skorupi stood back, with Skorupi raising his pincer above his head as it started to glow purple, slashing down with his pincer as it fired a purple glowing projectile at Ponyta. Elekid's body started glowing blue as he formed an orb of yellow and orange electricity in his hands before launching it straight at the Vulpix. If the attack was successful, the orb would explode, leaving behind a cloud of dust and smoke. -------------------- |

Jill cracked a smile. The boy focused all his efforts on all the wrong pokemon. Flare had already done her job - The sun was shining. It was indeed unfortunate that Pele's Flame Charge didn't land, but that was fine. The main purpose of Flame Charge is the increase in agility it provides.
As Skorupi charged forward with its claws, Jill shouted, "Pele, Bounce! Focus on Hitmontop!" Before the bug type could land its attack, Pele the Ponyta jumped high into the air, avoiding the creature's counterattack entirely, thanks primarily to the boost in speed she gained from Flame Charge. The resulting aerial assault would do devastating damage to the Fighting type, but he would have time to prepare for the hit. "Flare, use Flame Burst again, same target! Prepare for impact." The Vulpix heeded her trainer's advice and stood strong, absorbing both the Rapid Spin, which was more of a utility attack than a power hit, and the Electro Ball, which was primarily effective on slower targets. Elekid was definitely faster than Flare, but her speed was far from negligible. The attack hurt, this is true, but it didn't knock her out. Her counterattack, though, on the Skorupi who had just missed his mark, would be particularly devastating. He had already taken a Flame Burst from her, boosted her Fire typing, Sunny Day, and his Bug-type's weakness to fire. A second attack would almost certainly finish the job. "Vinyl," Jill continued. "Use Giga Drain on Hitmontop." She had chosen her next target. Perhaps a little cocky, considering her first target (Skorupi) wasn't quite down yet, but she was pretty sure Flare's Flame Burst would finish that job. Vinyl's Giga Drain would do incredible damage due to him using Growth on his previous turn. Growth normally increases the user's Physical and Special Attack. But, due to the drought in the air, its effect was doubled. Giga Drain might as well have been super effective against the Hitmontop, and the following Bounce from Pele would definitely be super effective. Vinyl was also the fastest pokemon on the field at that moment, unless you include Pele, who was above the field at that exact moment in time, so there was virtually no way that Hitmontop could dodge his attack unless he had previously prepared for it. The Weepinbel zoomed over to the spinning fighter, his vines creepily grabbing forward. -------------------- [spoiler=PANE - Justin Smart] Justin Smart Profile Current Level Post Wiki Currently In: Zoobreak! Millions of lights burst out all over the stadium. Radiating from every single trainer's belts, purses, pouches, etc, light shot out, blinding everyone for the moment in its brilliance. All Pokemon out of the field disappeared, recalled back into their pokeballs in the flash.
As the light began to fade, a shout pointed everyone's attention skywards, where a hover of helicopters had appeared in the sky. Without warning, several objects began to fall from them, flung from the helicopters. As they fell closer to the stadium, the sharper eyes began to note the perfectly spherical shape. The sharper ears would hear the bone-chilling monotone cry of: "ELECTRODE." Dozens. Hundreds of the Pokemon fell to the stadium. The swiftly reacting trainers threw out their pokeballs, yelling commands...only to realize that the Pokemon they released were not the ones they had summoned. In fact, they weren't even Pokemon they had caught. The flashes of light had randomized and shuffled everyone's pokemon. With the confusion at hand, the Electrode began to impact in the various stadiums, exploding on contact, causing widespread panic throughout the arena. -------------------- Song Stuck in My Head:~*~Blank Space - Ariana Silvanas (Postmodern Jukebox Cover)~*~ Pane (click to show ) Uprising (click to show ) |
