The Secret Santa Exchange is now open for deposits!

Once you know what Pokémon you want to enter into the exchange, you will use its Options dropdown and choose "Secret Santa Exchange" under the "Move to" option.

The exchange itself will happen after 11:55pm on December 25th, meaning you have two full days to deposit something. Depending on my availability, it will likely be hours later, or the next afternoon, but the ability to deposit will be disabled at reset.

Some reminders (and notes for newcomers):

• You can only enter ONE Pokémon in the exchange and you will not be able to undo your choice.
• The Pokémon will immediately be converted into an egg of its BASE form, again meaning you cannot undo your choice.
• When the exchange runs after reset of Christmas Day (December 25th), your Pokémon's egg will be given to someone else, and you will receive an egg from another person OF EQUAL RARITY.
• Rarity is dex rarity, not how "rare" you perceive it to be by availability on the site. So if you deposit a Novelty that is more rare than others, you may wind up receiving a Novelty that's much easier to obtain normally.
• Rarity is by BASE rarity. This means submitting certain novelties, such as a MEGA or some other Novelty evolution, will likely have a NON-NOVELTY base rarity (Common, Uncommon, Rare). A Mega Charizard would be a regular Charmander. Snowman Froakie would be a regular Froakie. A Winter Vulpix, however, would be considered a Novelty and would be given as a Winter Vulpix egg.
• Manaphy/Phione have been disabled this year, but summonable legendaries are in their own rarity grouping, rather than with all legendaries (Very Rare). This means submitting a Ho-oh, Lugia, etc, will get you an equivalent summonable legendary back; you will not get something like an Articuno.
• Submitting a SHINY means you will get a shiny in return, of equal rarity. The exchange will try to ensure it is something not yet in your shiny dex.
• THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES THAT YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU WANT, NOR THAT YOU WILL EVEN GET SOMETHING THAT YOU DO NOT ALREADY HAVE (although giving you something not already in your dex is the primary objective, but depending on how many people enter, and which Pokémon are entered, and how full your dex is, this may not have a 100% success rate)
• YOUR PARTY LIMIT WILL BE DECREASED TO 5 UNTIL THE EVENT ENDS, TO ENSURE YOU HAVE A SPOT OPEN IN YOUR PARTY FOR YOUR NEW EGG. Keep this in mind in case you want to wait until the 25th to deposit your Pokémon.
• You cannot submit an Arceus, Manaphy, Phione, nor a Black/White Kyurem. Those are the only restrictions.
• The exchange script will prioritize users based on their December 25th activity — those who were more active that day will be first to get an exchange Pokémon, which helps ensure they get something new.
• I might not be available precisely at reset on the 25th, which means the actual exchange will take place later that night if not the next afternoon. Just an FYI.

I will open this thread for replies after the actual exchange happens.

Looks Like I've gotten myself a Snowman Munchlax Egg. For some reason, I thought that my Shiny Fake Groudon would turn into a Normal Shiny Groudon Egg, resulting in a Shiny Legend. My mistake, but I can't complain whatsoever!

Yeah, if the Pokémon has its own egg (like a corrupted novelty would), it'll revert to that instead of the pre-corrupted egg.

My roommate's mother came into town a bit unexpectedly on Friday and coupled with other family events I was unable to get onto GPX until now. Looks like I missed cutoff by about an hour and a half.

Sent in a shiny popplio and got mudkip in return which I did not have yet. Poor mudkip though as it has been exchanged twice before. I totally forgot to book the link to my popplio so not sure who got it, but, hope they are happy with him.

My shiny Carnivine, which was my very first shiny on this site, went to someone who didn't have a shiny Carnivine yet, so I hope she enjoys it ^^

For those who haven't bookmarked their entries: try to find the Pokemon's page in your browser history. For me it was easy, as my Carnivine was nicknamed, so I just searched for its nickname; otherwise something like "miu's Sh. Carnivine" should've worked, so maybe you could find your entry too

I sent in a spare Meloetta I had and I got necrotizing's Darkrai. Kinda disappointing because I was looking for something new to my dex and that's not new, but I was barely active at all yesterday, so I guess I'm not surprised.

But I'm glad you like her! That more than makes up for it.

e: Looks like the only Legendary Pokémon I'm actually missing are a form of Landorus, a form of Keldeo, and three Tapus. I think I'll treat myself to my Legend Vouchers today

I sent in my shiny torterra I got from the lab and received a bulbasaur from Nonight! Pretty happy with that as its a shiny I wanted to hunt in the future, now I only need squirtle from the Kanto starters and I have the complete trio.

Feel kind of bad that my first thought was to put Lugia in the exchange next year. Unfortunately, i already have Shadow lugia and a regular Lugia

Hope whoever got my Nihilego enjoys it though.

Sent my spare shiny Alolan Vulpix to tenta, got a shiny Zangoose from Shiny T. Not the flashiest of shinies, but it's one I didn't have before, so I'd say that counts as a success!

(Btw, for those looking to find where their sent mon went—another way is to look at your Shine Recorder and find it under your completed hunts list, if you sent a shiny that you had hunted for.)

Really happy with the Uxie egg I've received! I hope that whoever received my 'mon is happy to get it! I can't even remember which I exchanged - was it Jirachi? Edit - it was a Victini, which is now with Grass Start!

My new Uxie has a bit of a sad history, abandoned to the Shelter before being put up for the Exchange. I'll hopefully give it a settled life here!

I sent in a spare unown Y that I'd snagged from the safari zone, (I later got one of my own from the exploration) looks like the person who got it was missing that one, so that's one fewer times they have to do the exploration if they're trying to get all of them.

EDIT: Wait, I just looked again and the unown I sent was the one I'd gotten from the exploration. same result in the end, but a shorter history on the pokemon.


I got a snover in return, which is nice. I was hoping to get an unown of my own though.

I'm pretty pleased, in obtaining Gen 3 eggs for the coins I hatched a Shiny Treecko and a Shiny Mawile which was pretty darn beast!! I traded my Shiny Treecko, already having one, and got what I presume to be a shiny DEINO in return!! Super hyped, but curious to know who got my Treecko?? Any way I could find out? Cause I'm a nerd... hmmm

I got super excited when I saw mine. I sent in an extra Sh. Eevee and received a Sh. Lapras in return. The person who got mine had been a user for many years so and hadn't yet gotten a Sh.Eevee. And I didn't yet have the Sh. Lapras! Thank you entei554 for the beautiful purple Lapras! And I hope Broken Butterfly enjoys their new Eevee! <3

I got your Litleo, and it was actually the gender I was hoping for! I sent out a spare shiny Smoochum that I hatched by chance after already completing my Smoochum hunt. I didn't take down the ID for it so I'm not sure who it went to, but I hope she was wanted.

EDIT: Like grumpish I tried searching my browser history and found out Celestial received my Smoochum. I hope you didn't have her!

Put in a Shiny Gardevoir I picked up from the Shelter some years ago that went to Quaggie13, got a Ralts in return from DanieleGrigo. Guess I'll be getting Shiny Kirlia Dex cred sooner than I thought. Life's kinda funny like that sometimes.

Sent a shiny malamar i caught from the shelter, got a shiny spinda in return. I don't like spinda, so it'll be going in next year. I actually LOVE inkay, but malamar is so ugly, so hopefully whoever got it will get to keep it as an inkay if they prefer it that way!

Sounds like you got my Dageki, sorry. Had a feeling whomever wound up with that thing wouldn't like it. If you are into completing your dex, at the very least that is one you will not have to waste time shiny hunting.
