Global PokédeX Plus Forums _ Bug and Errors _ Site bar issue in Chrome

Posted by: ChibiNinja Sep 20 2018, 01:12 PM

Chrome updated yesterday for me, and now I'm having a strange problem. When looking at the site, I see this:

Spoiler (click to showhide)

Notice anything missing? The entire activity bar is gone! When I mouse over the forum links at the top:

Spoiler (click to showhide)

It reappears, but in the wrong place! As soon as I move my mouse off the tabs, it vanishes again.
(pardon the image size, I can try shrinking them if the mods demand it)

I noticed this earlier when I was browsing with Chrome on my phone; exact same issue, exact same version of Chrome. I had to click + hold for a few seconds on the top to get the site UI menu to appear, though.

You don't have to edit the images themselves — you can just put them inside a spoiler tag and it'll stop them from stretching the page. Like this:

CODE
[spoil]Images go here[/spoil]

Does that function the same as using the desktop version would? I'm using a home computer myself. Too bad fixing the awful tabs doesn't fix anything else the new update messes with...

Yeah, exactly. Unless you click on the "it looks like you're on a mobile device, would you like to use our special optimized site" thing, because then you just get the standard mobile GPX+ UI.

For now, if you can, increase the width of your browser window; that will put the tabs on the left side and make them a bit more usable.

This stupid update broke a LOT of sites, not just GPX+, but nonetheless it's been brought to the attention of the staff.

Since I can see the stuff if I hover over the forum links (and don't use those very often) I think I'll pass on resizing for now - my resolution is only 1366x768 and I hate constantly messing with my browser window size. Good to know that it works as a quick fix if I change my mind though - I can always fullscreen temporarily if I need to, to preserve my typical size settings.

This issue seems to be fixed in the most recent version of chrome.

Thanks for the update, Tyranisaur!

Since this issue has been dealt with, I'm going to close this topic.

I'm also having this issue, but only when I'm on mobile. I switch from the mobile site to the full site, and have no navigation - yet when I try and click on the "Minor Updates" or "Spooky Halloween Event" links, the nav tabs suddenly come up and I'm sent to like the Pokedex or something.

It's fine on my laptop, just having the issue on my phone. (I use Chrome on both)

Again, this is a Chrome issue, not a GPX+ issue. Chrome updated yesterday on iOS; you might want to see if you have the latest version if that's what you're using.
