Insect Collect

The Heatmor, in the sudden blindness of the steam, had an advantage. It's odor sleuth move meant that It didn't NEED to see it's opponent, it could tell the exact location with a simple whiff. The heatmor was quiet, and looked about. It's fiery tongue snaked out of it's mouth, and with a sudden jolt, Lurched at the Totodile for a Bind attack.

"Heatmor..." it murmered slyly, knowing it had the advantage now. Even if the attack didn't hit it's intended target, The heatmor was still well concealed by the lingering steam, and if it ever needed some more, all it needed to do was trick one of the water types it was fighting into attacking.

Unfortunately for Gaven, Barrimore still happened to be quite paralyzed, and Gaven didn't have a single paralyze cure on him, only having thought to take along healing objects. Barrimore could only stand in his place and shake as the shocks recoiled through his tiny body.

"David! You'll have to get in close, or find a way to get rid of the steam!" Gaven shouted to his partner. "The heatmor looks like it isn't intent on getting out of there any time soon!" He repeated.

"Damn it" David mumbled to himself. Then while staring at the steam it hit him. "Gator use Water Gun all over the ground!" He yelled to the blinded Pokemon. Gator shot himself into the air and launched water toward the ground through his wide jaws.

"DILEEEE" the Pokemon screamed when it noticed the move managed to lift it another twenty feet in the air. Failing around in the air Gator had never felt so helpless.

"Don't worry buddy!" David yelled. "Return!" he added as the beam of light returned Gator to his ball. Replacing the ball to his belt David removed another and tossed it into the air. "Go Pikachu!"

"Pika! Pika!" the mouse Pokemon exclaimed once it got out of his ball.

"Use Thunder Shock on the ground!" David told Pikachu. Volts of electricity surged from it's cheeks and into the mud Gator had created with it's Water Gun. Miniature lightning blots jumped from puddle to puddle making it's way into the steam. As David stood looking on he held his breath.

"MOR!!" was the sound that erupted from the steam. David grinned to himself when he realized his plan worked. The Heatmor made his way out of the steam slowly looking all around with rage in it's eyes. Finally locking onto it's new opponent the Heatmor swelled up and sent a flurry of flames Pikachu's way. The small Pokemon nimbly avoided the streams of fire.

"Pikachu use Thunder Wave!" David yelled. His Pokemon shot more electric towards his target. This move however wasn't used for damage it hit the Heatmor and caused it to become paralyzed. Heatmor's movement slowed as the currents flowed through it. "Looks like the battle is even now." David told Gaven with a grin. "You wanna finish this off? Or should I?" David asked.

"I shall finish this." Mumbled Gaven. The heatmor was stupid for going outside of the steam that surrounded it, but it was even stupider for attempting to attack the mouse pokemon. Gaven just sighed and shook his head, and began to formulate a plan in which he could faint the Heatmor without it attacking either one of the Trainers again, which he was surprised it had not done yet.

"Alright, Barrimore, use Mud Shot." said Gaven finally, with a deciding look upon his face. Surely Water gun had a bit of STAB to it, but Mud Shot was a better choice. On the off chance that the Heatmor became free to move before the attack hit, it would not evaporate into steam, and the Fire type would still be hit with hardened mud pellets.

Barrimore, now freed from the sudden, onset effects of paralysis, complied quickly, shooting a barrage of Mud pellets at their attack. The Heatmor attempted to dodge, but just as it attempted to move, a shockwave of electricity coursed through it's body, ensuring it's blatantly obvious paralyzation. The poor Heatmor could only watch it's own defeat, as it was pelted by a plethora of med bullets of every shape and size.

"Just as it should be." Murmered Gaven, as he watched the Anteater pokemon fall with a sound thud. Barrimore did a little dance of happiness, although a short burst of shock from it's own paralyzation quickly stopped the Pokemon. Gaven thought for a bit, before deciding.

"Go, Pokeball!" he said quickly, as he tossed out a Red and White colored orb. The Pokeball clocked the Fainted Heatmor on the head, and engulfed it in a beam of light. Then, where the Heatmor had just sat, it fell to the ground, and began to rock back and forth, in an almost mesmerizing way.

Once, thrice, three times. The Heatmor was his.

David was happy to see Heatmor fall, maybe a little too happy. After what was the longest battle David could remember being in he finally saw what tole the battle took. Not on the Pokemon but himself. His dad's old hat was in pretty much the same state since he met Gator. His shorts were covered in soot. His shirt, already black, was almost the same.

"Phew" David said to himself. He returned Pikachu to his Pokeball. Looking up he saw Gaven throw a ball at Heatmor. "Wha.." David stopped short remembering he needed proof for the police. "Well I'm glad that's over. Let's go find a Pokemon Center then you can go get your reward" David said smiling. "Good job" he added as he extended his hand toward Gaven.

Gaven took the hand and shook it briskly, With a smile. The bottom of his pants were covered with ash, and a slight burnt smell emitted from his hair where the tips of his hairs hand been singed. His shooes where not almost enitrely black from where he had walked around in the Heatmor's home.

"You did well as well. I hope we can split the reward, after all I wouldn't want to battle you for it! He said jokingly. He looked at the pokeball in his hand, mulling over what he had done.

"You know, they'll probably let me keep this." He said, to no one in particular. "After all, The police can't lock up a Pokemon, and they'll certainly not want to keep it around." He tossed the Pokeball up into the air, and then caught it again. still looking at the ball in a quiet appreciation.

"According to my Pokedex, it's a female. I think I'll name her... Glenda. Yes, Glenda sounds to be an acceptable name for this Pokemon. I find it strangely suiting of the Fire Type." He said, again directing it towards no one in particular. He looked over at Barrimore.

The Little water pokemon seemed to approve, if anything. It was even more likely that it was merely spacing out, and simply had a strangely happy expression plastered to it's ever unintelligent face. He took out Barrimore's Pokeball and returned the pokemon. After all, it was still paralyzed, and he did not want to have it run after him feebly. He nodded, then looked about.

"You know, I have a good feeling about Furoh Region. It seems like a nice place."
