I'm totally hopeless at battle tower XD, so I thought I'd reach out a hand to you guys!
what strategies do you guys use to beat the more difficult NPCs? I've got a nice diverse team but still, very sad win rate. -------------------- |

Grass types are rather useful for most current NPC battles. My Meganium and Ferrothorn can duo some of them, although they do have rather nice IVs.
Leftovers are annoying, but I leveled a Volcarona to counter that. Other pokemon of same type would probably work equally well. -------------------- |

Against '???' I've found Charizard, Sawk, Haxorus, Dusknoir, Raichu and Milotic are a good team if you play correctly!
Sword Dance Charizard sets up easily against Sunkern and then Sweeps the rest of the team (Other than Magikarp, which Haxorus deals with). If you find yourself down one Charizard, Sawk deals with Cleffa, Raichu can sometimes take Magikarp (If it has Choice Scarf). Milotic and Dusknoir are the basic Bulk of the team, but I am very sure there are better options.. (Nasty Plotting/Sword Dancing Venusaur would be a decent alternative to Charizard seen as it can also set up on Sunkern and has the added counter to Pichu, but may need to watch out for Caterpie... Sawk could be replaced by Machamp, but it's just a matter of preference there.. I don't see a decent replacement for Haxorus though, due to other Full Evo'd Dragons having 2 types..) Against Cypress #2 and #3 I've not really found a decent team for yet.. -------------------- Come read my WarStorys if that's your thing. http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showto...p;#entry1702754 |

My record against the NPC are (Most losses are from before I got a strategy or when I experimented): Cypress #1: 63-23 Cypress #2: 44-18 Cypress #3: 30-14 ???: 58-13 Joey: 94-0 This post has been edited by Superbob: May 28 2011, 11:45 AM |

Cypress #1 is easy with fighting Pokemon.
I open with Hitmonlee, who takes out the first few opponents then switch to Blaziken (w. Choice Band) who takes out the third. Rest of the team sweeps out the remainders. ...I had far more trouble with Cypress #1 and #2 than I had with #3, haven't lost against third one even once. Basically, I'd simply recommend making a list of the opponent Pokemon and checking what types they're vulnerable against. Then build your team around that. -------------------- |

against youngster joey it is better to use fighting type pokemon as most of his pokemons are normal
i open with throh which takes out ratata and almost half of raticate, den i switch to sawk which takes out raticate and does enough damage to slowpoke for ur 3rd pokemon to take it out easily............... best of luck |

I just tend to spam Ferrothorn for the NPC's >.> it works. As long as you give it a leftovers, both defences, sword dance and an attack you're good to go

No worries, I fail too. I can't even beat Joey with LV 25 Pokemon that are fightning-type.

For Professor Cypress #1: Steelix sets up Iron Defense and Amnesia on Watchog, then sweeps.
For Professor Cypress #2: Use Torterra to kick Flygon and Jolteon's asses, Lanturn to get rid of Delibird and Drifblim, and Steelix to handle Manectric and Rampardos. For Professor Cypress #3: Salamence -> Vespiquen, Lanturn -> Octillery/Uxie/Vespiquen, Blaziken -> Aggron, Torterra -> Rhyperior, Starmie -> Uxie, Steelix -> Aggron/Uxie. For Youngster Joey: Aron uses triple Swords Dance, then Agility if Rattata stays in on 4th turn. Golem deals with Rattata and Raticate. Honchkrow deals with Slowpoke. For ???: KO Skullcrusher with Lanturn, then set up with Salamence or Ferrothorn on Parentkiller. -------------------- |

Youngster Joey is dead easy with a Sudowoodo. The other two pokemon I choose are purely random, since Sudo by itself can even take out Slowpoke, most times. Rats just die when they meet Sudo.

Youngster Joey is dead easy with a Sudowoodo. The other two pokemon I choose are purely random, since Sudo by itself can even take out Slowpoke, most times. It's high Def (even though mine has crappy IVs - Def:80(0)) and type mean that Rats just die when they meet Sudo, and deal limited damage.
As a reminder, too, it doesn't make a difference whether your pokemon are lv.1 or lv.25, since stats don't change across that level range, so I prefer using a low-levelled Sudo, actually, since it means I can fight more battles with it before it gets too high in level. QUOTE(Battles Information tab) Someone used a team of all level 25 Pokémon against my team of all level 1 Pokémon and defeated me! That's so unfair!11!
No, it isn't. Statistics are consistent across each entire level bracket, meaning, your team's statistics will remain the same from level 1 all the way through to level 25, and again from level 26 to 50, and so on. Read the section entitled "How are stats determined?" for more info. This post has been edited by draconitas: Jun 2 2011, 07:00 PM -------------------- |

You just need to build a balanced team with good ivs and nature and you can beat with this team both cypress and ???.
For Joey you just need to take a good fighting pokemon along with a good electric/dark/grass pokemon Hopefully, in the future there will be NPC battles more challenges. -------------------- |

As long as it is level 25 when you do the battle it won't level over 25 and will stay 25 forever. I have a Gigalith that was a few hundred exp from level 26 and I use it for youngster joey and it decreased its exp until it got to 0.As a reminder, too, it doesn't make a difference whether your pokemon are lv.1 or lv.25, since stats don't change across that level range, so I prefer using a low-levelled Sudo, actually, since it means I can fight more battles with it before it gets too high in level. Joey can be pulverized with a Lucario running Snarl (via dark gem), Vacuum wave, and protect. Even without the dark gem, it can take out both rattata and raticate, which leaves slowpoke as a revenge kill.
For ???, I use a dracowymsy (fighting), zergoose, golem, rampardos, staraptor, and winter ninetails. Don't ask me the order, because I forgot. However, the golem has amnesia, the zergoose doesn't need to boost, rampardos holds a quick claw, staraptor has swords dance, and ninetails doesn't boost. Dracowymsy has screech. A similar set with different strategy works on Cypress. -------------------- |
