Were do think Ash would be know if he encountered pokemon as fequently as you do in the games.

He would have met them all, but none of them would have travelled with him. I mean, come on, in the game we can go real far real quick, and May would have complained too much.
I think Gary would be his best friend, though. Both of them would be very good trainers, and I can't imagine them as rivals after Johto. -------------------- Current party   |

He would have met them but he would have been going through a lot quicker so he might have been to Hoenn before May became a Pokemon trainer.

He'd probably be more caught up with Gary. Since it seems like Gary encounters a lot more pokemon.. and catches them
