Ray Stark (PANE)

Name: Raymond (Ray) Stark
Age: 18 years old
Hometown: Floaroma Town

Appearance:
Raymond is tall and a little chubby. He wears glasses which he has to use all the time, or else he doesn’t see a thing. He has messy, long curly hair kept calm with a headband, and a short messy beard. His eyes are deep, dark hazel colored and stand out more due to his glasses. His skin is tanned colored and rough. It’s covered with many little and medium sized scars, the result of mixing adventure and clumsiness together. His hands and wrists are covered with bandages like the ones boxers use. He thinks he looks more like an adventurer with them.

Ray doesn’t have an idea what fashion is, but it doesn’t matter to him. He uses comfortable clothes which let him travel and explore without handicapping him. He has a practical utility belt where he puts his pokeballs, PokeNav and money. He usually uses hiking boots which let him walk over almost any terrain when adventuring and comfy sneakers when in a city or town. However, the accessory which catches everyone’s eyes is a big-sized, sepia backpack which he treasures greatly. Due to the amount of patches and stitches it has, it is obvious it has lived a lot of adventures, even more than his present owner.

Personality:
Even though Raymond wants to be a Pokemon Trainer and explore the world, he doesn’t have your typical adventurer’s attitude. He IS willing to explore the whole world, but he is a little insecure of himself. Sometimes he thinks maybe he isn’t ready to live the life of a trainer. However, it’s the faith his Pokemon have in him that makes him continue his journey every day.

He is very clumsy and gets lost in his mind all the time. He can walk into a tree without noticing it if he is thinking on something else, which it’s usually always the case. He can even forget to eat a day if he’s too concentrated on an adventure. This sometimes brings some problems when interacting with other people. He usually is outgoing and likes being with his friends, but again, if he’s really concentrated thinking on something, he won’t hear you unless you snap him back.

In spite of this, Ray is the kind of person who always tries to be smiling. Even though he is in a very hard situation, he knows that smiling will always make things easier. And if you saw him with his Pokemon, you would think Ray is the happiest person in the world.

If you ask Ray what he believes in, he would answer you: “What do I believe in? Well, I believe that Pokemon and people should always live their lives at their best. There’s people who dream to be the very best, the richest man in the world or the most popular guy in the universe. I know I’m not the best trainer, and maybe I won’t be, but who cares? If at the end of the story I can say my life was worth it, I’ll rest in peace.

Biography:
Ray was born in Floaroma Town, in the Sinnoh region. He lived with his younger brother Ronald and his dad. His mother died when giving birth to Ron. Ray was 8 years old when this happened. He cried a lot and was angry with his brother: he thought it was his brother’s fault that his mom died. Ray’s dad noticed this and did what he could to calm him, but every conversation ended in a fight and Ray always ended up crying alone in his room. This went on for 3 months until one night, after a stronger than usual discussion with his dad, he ran away from home. He took one of his dad’s big backpacks which he filled with some clothes, food and toys and ran away from home. He didn't reach far because the backpack was too big and heavy for him. Just an hour had passed and he was already tired. He was near the Valley Windworks and sat to rest. He thought how scary the forest would be at night and that he shouldn’t have left home. Being angry, confused and scared, he began to cry. He kept crying until something pulled gently his shirt. It was a small Eevee. Ray jumped and kept his distance because adults always told him to be careful with wild Pokemon. However, the Eevee moved forward and jumped to him, throwing Ray to the ground. He was very scared, thinking the Eevee would attack him, but she just kept there, cuddling on his stomach. Suddenly, Ray felt her stomach grumble. Surprised by the situation, he couldn’t do anything but laugh. He laughed for the first time in 3 months and it felt good. He opened his backpack and offered the Pokemon one of the cookies he had taken. This made him remember that he had escaped home. He decided he should return, but didn’t know if his father would let him keep the Eevee. He watched the Eevee eat and played a little with her. During 3 months he hadn’t played nor laughed nor think anything other than his mother’s death. He finally felt he was alive again.

When he got back home with a wild Pokemon in his arms and a big smile in his face, his dad knew that Eevee was the reason his son was happy again, so he let him keep it and taught him all he knew about caring and training a Pokemon. Since then, his relationship with his father and Ron grew a lot stronger and even though he still missed his mother, he didn’t cry again for her, thinking this would make her sad. When he became 14 years old, his dad took him and his brother to travel around the Sinnoh region. They visited all the towns, forests, landmarks and even climbed Mt. Coronet (not to the top, though). During this travels he met many people and Pokemon, and with his dad’s help, he managed to capture Riko (a brave and honest Riolu) and Tricky (a playful and mischievous Gastly). After returning home, Ray knew he wanted to explore new places. Finally, when he became 18 years old, he told his dad that he wanted to explore the world. His dad knew it was time he moved on, so he gave him enough money and gifted him the backpack Ray had used when he escaped home 10 years ago. Inside, Ray found items his dad had used when he was a young trainer. Ray bought a ferry ticket to the Furoh region, a place known for the adventures trainers and Pokemon could live together. Ray was ready to start his new life as a Pokemon trainer.

What is the biscuit's name? The Biscuit's name is Scheherazade.

Edit: Ronald was 10 years old when Ray left to Furoh, so he couldn't go with him. He's stayed in Floaroma Town with his dad and a Budew that Ray helped him catch. Ray is Ron's role model and he dreams of one day going to explore the world like his brother. However, Ron seems to like to take care of Pokemon more than making them battle. Maybe he'll grow up to be a Pokemon Breeder instead of a Trainer.
