Global PokédeX Plus Forums _ PANE RP School _ Gym Battles.

Posted by: ROMANA Jun 27 2009, 04:40 PM

I've read up on how the gyms work but I'm hoping someone can point me at a gyum battle thread so I can see the theory in practice, sort of thing. I've had a look through the threads but I haven't spotted anything. Anyone fought a gym leader yet?

Thanks happy.gif

I think you have to PM a mod, then they join the thread with a Gym Leader character...

The outcome is predetermined via a coin toss.

Look up Gigarte Park. There were two gym battles at the end of that.

Everything's correct. PM me or Colonel Crazy, and we'll flip a coin. Remember, one can also elect to just throw a match completely for story purposes.

Note in Gigarte Park, Kilvaer is the leader at the beginning, and then control is swapped to myself when he leaves.

Is Kilvaer still the gym leader though or does the gym leader thread need to be updated?

Oh, and can we use HMs without teaching our pokemon HM moves as long as it makes sense? I mean, flying on a pidgey or surfing on a squirtle obviously wouldn't make sense, but surfing on a Lapras or flying on a Pidgeot definitely would. I mean, it's not like we need to beat gym leaders or take up move slots for stuff like that, right? Speaking of move slots though, can our pokemon just use whatever they could feasibly know like in Uprising or are they limited to using 4 moves per RP? I don't remember finding anything about that either...since like I said earlier, most of the important information for new members is spread just about everywhere and some of it is still very vague. I probably missed it.

The way moves have worked in PANE in the past is that if it is logical for a pokemon to use it, it can learn it. This goes by the anime, because levels aren't tracked there.

This doesn't mean that a level 1 squirtle can learn Hydroblast, or a level 5 ralts can learn Psychic, but it does mean that a level 18 ralts might know, say, magical leaf. It's a little earlier than in the game, but it's not too far off.

Also, there is not a limit of four attacks.
