"Hey, you OK?" Jaima's voice was soft, more because he'd seen something very emotional than because he thought Mindy might be upset.

When Mindy didn't answer right away, Jaima nodded. "I think you did the right thing, you know? I mean, it's perfect for Queen and for your uncle, right?" He smiled a little at his own awkwardness. "And don't worry about your uncle's or folk's business. Think of how many people will come through the hometown of a bona fide Pokemon champion! They won't be able to keep up, I bet!"

Melinda Rose

It had all happened so fast, Melinda never got a chance to take things into perspective. There was a long silence full of thought before Melinda opened her mouth again. Everything that had happened to her precious bug pokemon and her family's business had just been to much. The truth of reality hit her once she fully realized that her strongest pokemon was gone. Vespiquen had been the only reason, well of course with Grondiir, that Mindy had won the Stonebloom Badge. Without her mightiest pokemon, she felt as if she was nothing; that her Stonebloom badge might be her last. Even if it was for the better that Queen leave the team, there was still a gaping hole in Melinda's heart that simply could not be filled.

Jaima's kind words of encouragement did manage to cheer the girl up a bit, but Melinda was still posed with a major problem.

"What am I going to do guys? All I have now is Taillow and Fe-...well, Taillow!" she shouted. "How am I supposed to compete as a serious trainer with only one pokemon?"

Jaima was, despite his earlier bout with doubt, pretty good at consolation. He had two sisters with differing skills, each of which sometimes envied the other. So when he put his hand on Mindy's back, it was out of a type of parental-brotherly instinct. He did have enough presence of mind not to try to stroke her hair.

"Well," he said, keeping his voice matter-of-fact, "you're going to train the pokemon you have, and you're going to catch more, and I bet you'll even figure out just what it is that Feebas can do." He patted the back of her hand gently before pulling away. "You brought something out in Grondir that I didn't know he had. If he can trust you that much, one you catch and care for more personally can't help but be great." Jaima smiled, hoping that Mindy could hear his confidence in her. "Ask Darryn. I told him, you're amazing."

"So, what do you say, Min? Do we keep on truckin'?"

Melinda smiled as she listened to her friend Jaima's words of reassurance. His hand on her back made the feeling even greater, and it had a very friendly feeling to it. Mindy enjoyed how straightforward Jaima was in his advice and caring words. He made everything seem so simple: capturing and training pokemon. She had done so and been very successful in the past with Vespiquen and Grondiir, so it only made sense to continue doing the same with her Taillow and Feebas. Taillow already had some great potential, but Feebas, well not so much. But she couldn't think like that, no. Every pokemon had its strengths and weaknesses, and Mindy decided she would just have to find Feebas' strengths and exploit them.

When Jaima started talking about Grondiir she smiled. Grondiir had been Mindy's first real success story; she had really help him mature into a fantastic battler. He was something along with Vespiquen and the Stonebloom badge that Melinda could be very proud of. But as she was starting to see, there was more in the world that she could be proud of like the rest of her pokemon. Melinda couldn't just focus on one thing; she would have to train all of her pokemon evenly. As Jaima talked about how great and caring Melinda was, all she could do was blush. It made her feel uncomfortable, but at the same time proud that she had found another thing to be proud of: Jaima. He was such a good friend, and as Melinda was discovering was an empathetic person through thick and thin. He was so confident in what he was saying, it completely turned Mindy's frown upside down.

"So, what do you say, Min? Do we keep on truckin'?"

He had been so kind to her; Melinda thought it was fitting to pay him back. Mindy got up from the seat, turned around and kissed Jaima on the cheek. "Let's keep on truckin," she whispered. She left Jaima in a state of perplexion and turned towards Darryn. "Thank you, both of you,” she said with a sense of sincere gratuity in her voice. Sensing the awkward silence approaching, she thought to strike up a conversation.

"What do you think we go do next guys?

PANE: Darryn Kellor

Darryn was glad that Jaima was around to calm Melinda and reassure her of her fantastic abilities as a trainer. Without him, Darryn saw the group as a being incomplete. Each of them had their own strengths and together they made an impressive whole. Jaima was the heart - always caring and full of empathy. Mindy was the body - active and holdin them all together with her strong, capable hands. That left Darryn as the 'brain' as he saw it. Not because he thought he was the most clever or anything, but so far he seemed to have the widest knowledge of Pokemon care off of a battlefield. He inwardly smiled - he had found his place so quickly that he felt right at home with the others already!

"Next?" Darryn pondered. "Food and let's get out of this city! I intend to catch up to you two if it's the last thing I do and to do that I'll need a load more battles and even some more Pokemon. Oh, and Mindy? Don't worry about your Feebas - we all know what those evolve into and with some help from me we can have her take that step up in no time at all... I think..."

"...Okay?" Melinda was lost. Whatever this 'evolution' Darryn was speaking was not familiar with Melinda. All she knew was that up to now, the pokemon had been of no use in battling. But Mindy was willing to trust Darryn about this. He knew what he was talking about; he always did. Hopefully his phrase 'no time at all' would come pretty soon because Melinda was definitely in need of a new battling pokemon; Taillow certainly couldn't do everything by himself for he was just too young. But she'd have time to think about all that during the journey to Lenoilia. Pushing those contemplated thoughts to the back of her head, she gathered herself mentally and physically. "Alright guys, let's go get something to eat"

~

Three figures approached an enormous glass elevator as one pressed out to touch a button nearby. Immediately a capsule flew down from the sky, landed in front of the three adventurers and opened its doors. One by one they all made their way into the contraption as the opening closed. They all watched themselves move up the crystal in amazement; it was just like before! Everything was so beautiful, and real! And at the same time, it wasn't. Melinda decided that it was just one of the wonders of the world that she would never be able to fully understand.

As the capsule slowed down and opened its doors, the gang emerged from its interior and were blinded a little by the sun's harsh rays. Once their pupils had properly dilated Mindy took in the vaguely familiar surroundings. She was experiencing a strong sense of deja vu, like she had been to this exact area more than once. "Alright guys, let's head out, Melinda announced, throwing her thoughts aside. She pulled out her PokéGear and clicked on the map. It sprung to life in 3D as Mindy set the course of navigation. "Ready when you guys are".

The beautiful orange and pink sunset lay in the background of our three heroes as they joked and laughed casually. As they strode of southwards, Melinda couldn't help but remeber when she had seen this image, this picture before. In her dreams.

As they rode up the crystal elevator, Jaima couldn't help but reflect. His pokemon had all grown well, he'd learned how to care for them aand he learned their limits. Mindy had taught him the benefit of pushing their limits. Mercury had learned how to use her environment somewhat. Shadow had learned the power in his own body.

More importantly, Jaima himself had grown. He had learned how to stand up for himself and others, and he had made a valuable new friend in Darryn. He only hoped that Darryn would benefit as much from them as they were from him.

Only one thing was left, now that they'd left Gigarte...

"Um, Mindy..? Do you think I can get Grondir back now?"

PANE: Darryn Kellor

Darryn's exit from Gigarte was far from a teary goodbye. He'd been waiting for the day he could travel the world of Pokemon, learning and battling all the way to become a great Pokemon fashion expert. Now that he was with Mindy and Jaima it felt like the whole of Furoh was an open book for him to read at his own leisure, full of surprises and adventures that no-one could even dream of.

He watched as Mindy returned Jaima's Bulbasaur inside his custom vine-covered Pokeball and thank his trainer for the loan that had helped her win the Gigarte Stonebloom Badge. That reminded Darryn that he was still a step behind his new friends but with some luck, hard work and putting the right foot forward anything was possible. He reached out to point to the hologram over Mindy's PokeGear.

"OK, guys." Darryn zoomed the map in towards a town in the south. "Looks like this Lenoilia is the place to go. There's no gym there according to the guidebook so we can make it a quick stop and move on with no trouble at all. So, let's go!"

As the trio walked off on the southerly road, Darryn's words faded on a mischievous breeze that laughed as they made their way away from Gigarte. It laughed so quietly, however, that no-one could hear the mock sarcasm in its airy voice that said that Darryn was wrong and that there was nothing *but* trouble right around the corner.

END OF GIGARTE PARK!
