I could be technical and say that the Native American's only had scattered tribes, and they were never in control of the country (The United States), but eh, you didn't mean it like that. But, turn on the TV and look at the other nation's in the world. The 4+ hour Emergency Room waits, the mass rioting, the extreme poverty (Eating mud). Now, tell me... Would you rather live like that, or like we do now? We live in extreme comfort compared to everyone else, and everyone is scared of losing just a little bit of that. What does that have to do with anything? How are we losing our life of luxury? QUOTE Incorrect. All schools were allowed to choose what they wished to do, some showed it without permission slips, some with, some didn't show it at all, and some just had a show of hands. I honestly though the controversy was utterly stupid and a waste of time, but eh, people complain about anything. But when Obama did his thing, people were like "He's brainwashing our kids!11!!!" I dun remember that happening with Bush. Then again, I was about 7-9 when this was happening, and I didn't give a carp about what was going on. -------------------- |

Because like most politicians, the President is another lier. Heck, he pretty much lost my personal respect after lying about adopting a shelter dog and obtaining one from a breeder. In the course of less than a month, Obama's allowing a failure war in Afghanistan, is retreating our forces in Iraq (Which actually has military worth), spent $800 billion on a wasteful spending plan, and is continuing several corrupt organizations (ACORN). Then of course, hiring criminals such as Tim Geithner isn't helping any, and allowing the czars (one, before resigning, was a communist) to continue. Obama just isn't worthy of trust. He's still acting like he's campaigning, and making the bad aspects of the last administration worse. Frankly, this ain't an issue about racism, but simple incompetance. Liar? About getting a shelter dog? Wtf is wrong with you?! Dude, very hard to accomplish many goals of health care. Baby steps must be taken to increase economy, which will in turn save our country. The $800 billion was spent by Bush first. We're pulling out some of our soldiers, but the rest have to stay for another year, or it's a sign of weakness. Anybody who wants to quit the army has to stay. And if we actually pulled out entirely, we would all be attacked by many countries. War on our streets. Get it, boy? I'm mostly democrat, but there are some things I don't like...so I pretty much am a neutral. It's because of the fact that our country is so divided, not just by race, but by party. Right Wing conservatives will hate left wing Liberals no matter WHO they are and vice versa. What doesn't help is all of the reverse racism that's been going on for the last decade. Whites are mad because they believe Obama was voted in based on race, and the blacks are mad because the reason the whites are mad. It's rediculous. EDIT: One other thing I find rediculous is all of the bullshit people are finding to get mad at him. "OH EM GEE he bought a Dog!!" WHO GIVES A SHIT!? Is buying a pure bred dog going to make him less the President of the United States? And what was with the mania about his wife's shorts? Is she not entitled to wear whatever the fuck she wants? And about his policies, it can happen one of two ways. 1. He upholds his policies, and everyone gets mad at him for "socializing" the country. 2. He doesn't uphold his policy, and everyone gets mad at him for not upholding his policies and "lieing" about his campaign. Me? I'd much rathor hope for the best instead of blocking any chance the guy has for success, eventually leading to the country's collapse. Our country is divided in so many ways, we forget how our country is divided. Like how we're called the USA. Then why are all our states divided eh? It is ridiculous to see people getting so worked up when Obama can't perform his duties, but trust me, if you were president, you'd be impeached by now.(This means every angry person or hater of Obama, no offense.) Now then, with the Native Americans, the most persecuted race in the world, their culture has been eliminated. There are now casinos in place, and few Natives. It's all too late now... Oh yeah, and the Daily Show insults the president, and many news showings. Very funny. Now, to conclude, WATCH THE F***ING NEWS FIRST BEFORE YOU MAKE SOME STUPID, RACIST, OR HATEFUL COMMENT. MANY PEOPLE HERE DON'T EVEN WATCH THE NEWS. And I mean for everybody watching crappy news. Watch freaking channel one news. Their neutral, rather than republican or democrat. not sure what channel one news even IS... but watch a whole bunch of biased news channels as opposed to just one.
BBC is relatively neutral, though. -------------------- |

What does that have to do with anything? How are we losing our life of luxury? My bad, I didn't make myself clear in the first post. It is that the people whining about losing their country feel like if the country changes in the way they think Obama is, they will lose their life of luxury. QUOTE QUOTE Incorrect. But I agree, this country is too focused on individuality anymore that everyone else can just go to hell. I absolutely can't stand these black pride groups...did that sounds racist to anyone? If so...YOU'RE THE PROBLEM! What we need to do is stop this silly "*whatever* pride!" crap and realize that we are way too similar to be hating against each other. And while the similarity thing is going on, I have to add that we are also way to diverse to be prejudice (did that make sense to anyone? It did in my head...) even those of the same group are different. Not every white guy looks EXACTLY the same just like every gay doesn't look EXACTLY the same. I once told a bunch of "flip pride"fags to look at the differences between their own group. One of them even had the exact same skin color that I did. There was a white philipeno in a group of xenophobic philipenos. The end of division and segregation is not achieved through benefits and prizes, it's achieved when someone is able to freely talk about a race other than his own without some sort of uproar occuring. Oh god, I don't have life, I do watch the news, every night/morning.
Obama hasn't done anything yet. Well, it's only 9 goddamn months, America's getting too impatient. He has done not quite a lot. I mean he's trying to close Guantanamo Bay's detention camp. It's sad that Jimmy Carter had stated his opinion that whoever attacks Obama is racist. People are taking this too far. =.= This post has been edited by Fappucino: Sep 19 2009, 09:47 PM -------------------- |

I'm not going to get into a huge long-ass rant about my opinions, mostly because he is not MY President because I do not live in the US ...
But that aside, I don't hate the man. At all. I dislike him as a presidential choice, NOT as a person (he has some VERY good charisma, I give him major props for that-- that man sure can talk) ... and that has absolutely nothing to do with his race ''' It's silly to default to that, to be honest. I saw a sign once that read: "It doesn't matter what my sign says, you'd still call me a racist." Do you know how sad that is? You people seem to live in a country that the moment someone says something about another in a derogatory manner, and that other person just happens to be of another race, it's "racism." Perhaps it is sometimes, but all the time? No. It's silly to think it is, I'm sorry. That being said ... that is my opinion on the matter P: But, being a silly Russian, perhaps it doesn't mean much xD -------------------- |

i think it is only because he is afro-american...but people will get used to it...i personaly think that he is great men even tough i am not from america... How ironic, I always thought the reason he got voted in was because he was black. But I guess that's what happens when you live in an area with a lot of other blacks. @Raven - Channel One is basically recent "news" condensed into about 10 minutes (although at least 3 minutes are just ads for stuff like Olay and Neutrogena ಠ_ಠ), and it shows nearly every day in some public high schools. As for bias, I don't really think there's much of it. It isn't really actual news, anyway, so there's not much to really pick a side on. I personally find it incredibly insulting to state my negative opinion of the president and immediately be called a racist for it.
That being said, I dislike him for quite a number of reasons, absolutely none of which have anything to do with the color of his skin. I don't agree with his economic policies, I don't agree with his spending plans, and most of all, I hate that at least part of his base of supporters do only like him because of his race. I've never voted for a white man just because he was white, or a male just because he was male, and I will never vote for a black man just because he's black--likewise, I will never vote against him because he's black. The very fact that this is such an issue to everyone irritates the living hell out of me, and proves without a doubt that racism is still very much alive and kicking--both ways. Which I find very sad. -------------------- --> Help them grow! <-- I always return all clicks and always feed the right berry. 8) I'm searching for lab legends! People are gonna complain no matter what, and there will always be something to complain about.
He's a human being. Sooner or later, he'll make a mistake, and it's probably going to be a big one. Now, I don't care about his personality, appearance, opinions, or anything like that. As long as he does some good, then I'm with him. Even if the good things are small. On another topic, even if America goes rock bottom and it effects Canada in a big way, I'm still going to make Lemonade out of this shit you call Lemons. -------------------- |

Answering the question given in the topic, as long as their is the freedom to think what we will, there will always be disagreements. Along with that, there will almost certainly be that one person who will make accusations, be they false or true; and of course things will just escalate from there. Although, people will generally group with those around them, safety in numbers.
So if person A sees what Obama is doing, and highly disagrees with it, he'll talk to his friends, person B and C. Person C happens to know nothing about what is going on, but hears A and B talking about "how stupid he is being" and how "he is going to end up wrecking the country" and will probably think something along the lines of "Oh, this Obama guy sounds like a real douche." and join along with A and B. The group then goes off to recruit the rest of the alphabet but stops when they reach H because it turns out person Z started first and now has many more people on the side that supports Obama. These two end up getting into an argument and are thus divided into their own groups, dead set against the others thoughts. Along with feeling safe in a group, people are going to probably follow what they were taught by their parents. Obviously, when young, a child is going to think their mom and/or dad knows everything and asks for their help in everything, trust then builds. However, when being helped, the child is being influenced by his parent's own ideas and beliefs, a Christian parent will probably have a child who is Christian. So, if a parent happens to have had bad experience with people of a different skin color then he or she will probably teach their child that people with that colored skin are bad. Thus racism, religion, and beliefs are all carried on through generations. As for the media, I don't give a naked baboon's behind for most of what they say, and I almost never look at any form of news other than the weather (unless utterly bored at the dentists ) . They don't care how true the story is, how it makes anyone look, or others think, they don't love you, they just want your money. Can you really trust the opinion of a group of people who just want your money and have to compete with each other to earn it? Personally, I don't bother keeping track of what the government is doing. Anything I hear is usually gossip that I ignore, unless I find it interesting and look it up, otherwise I just leave the politics to their business. I didn't even know a thing about the whole election ordeal until it was brought into school saying that we could vote for ourselves Republican or Democrat; I voted for my history teacher. Chances are , all that would happen if I looked into politics would be my brain imploding. Although, from my own point of view. All the talk I heard on Bush was "Man this guy is/was a dumb-ass" my first thoughts were: "Well, he must not be the only one since you elected him TWICE!" Then along came Obama, first everyone is all "Whoo! Bush is gone!" and all on the "support Obama" bandwagon. Now, not even a year into his presidency, everyone is all for lynching him because he is going to drive the U.S. into the dirt. I've even seen some people wishing Bush was back. My thoughts were then summed up by this picture: http://punditkitchen.files.wordpress.com/2...w=400&h=280 This may not be how it is, but it's what I've seen. But how would anyone know what is really going on anyhow, with how information goes around through the media, people, and those weird people who completely change the story to how they like it for no apparent reason, all adding a touch of their own opinion. [/my wall of thoughts] -------------------- |

People always hate the president because you can't please everyone all the time, only most of the people most of the time. Republican-affiliated fringe groups are really good at being way louder than they should and attracting more attention than they aught to, so that's why it seems like the country hates him right now. I still like Barak Obama, so if that means anything then I guess I helped slightly? :\

It's just that enough people are telling those who don't bother checking facts that more people don't like him than do like him. @Silver: That sounds about right. What happens is people will have either been born into families that only lean one way, no matter what, have friends with big mouths and closed minds, or watch the TV and only listen to ONE biased news station to get ALL of their information. That's why I leave the room every time politics comes up. I don't want to listen to jobless, experienceless teenagers complain about the taxes they don't have to pay, and I especially don't want to have some guy draging me into the conversation. -------------------- space...spacespace...wanna go to space...I'm in space...are we in space...I wanna into space, are you space?
