I like the Japanese Pokemon openings, and some endings. Yeah, maybe the majority of the English ones suck, but you have to admit that the Japanese ones aren't bad. My favourites are Mesaze Pokemon Master (I think it's called that), OK! (Johto/3rd opening), Raiburu! (2nd opening), Polka O Dolka (it's catchy. Even though it sounds stupid) and Pokemon Ondo (that one sounds stupid, but it's catchy and cute) and Watashi Makenai (catchy song, it's nice).
As for the English ones, I only listen to '2B A Master' when I'm high. If you haven't listened to the Japanese openings/endings EVER, go to Youtube now and do us all a favour, please. How about you guys? |

For the Japanese openings, I like Mesaze Pokemon Master and OK!
For the English ones, I like The johto one (the first) from when I was a kid, and the battle frontier is only 36 seconds, but its catchy and is always in my head. -------------------- Starly Rules. |

I love the Japanese music! <3 The English songs are all fail. There are a few gems in there, though. I personally like Advanced Battle.
My favorite Japanese opening is probably Battle Frontier, and my favorite ending is probably Kaze no Message. Although, if we throw movie themes in there too, my favorite English one is "This Side of Paradise" (which I am STILL trying to find) and my favorite Japanese one is "I Will Be With You". -------------------- |

In the Japanese opening for Pokemon D&P, the opening/ending is updated with catches/releases/evolutions/trades! That is so awesome to remind the viewers of the characters current parties.

The first two or so English openings where better than the Japanese ones- after that, the Japanese ones became much better than the English ones.

It's really hard to choose. Here's my opinion in terms of D/P:
English: The opening is short, and most of it is cut out. The song is bad, but at least it's bearable. Japanese: The song is cutesy, and maybe a little too happy, but it's more imaginative and well thought out. The video is longer and well animated, but it is also cutesy. Now that I think about it, it might not be so bad that in in the English version that the opening is highly edited. I don't mind cute things, as long as it's not "cutesy"... if that makes sense... I never liked any of the English openings anyways. Even the old ones. This post has been edited by johnrichard1991: Dec 29 2008, 06:59 AM -------------------- |

I love Pokemon OPs and EDs... from a few different languages actually XD
I always loved hearing each new English dubbed OP until the new dubbers took over. After that I was fairly disappointed with the Battle Frointier/Diamond & Pearl OPs, but the Battle Dimension song is rather nice. Short, but nice. Of all the dubbed songs, I'd say my favourites are the original theme, JLC and MQ's, and Advanced Challenge. Of the Japanese OPs, there's very few I don't love. My top favourites would probably be "Ready Go!" and "Battle Frontier", but all of them are fairly good. Of the EDs, "Soko ni Sora ga Aru Kara", "Smile", "Type: Wild" (Japanese and English versions), and "Pockettari Monstari" (it's adorable). Not even going to touch the movie EDs because a handful of them are gorgeous. Then we have the Italian Pokemon OPs... I've become obsessed with a few of them. The Advanced theme, Advanced Battle, and D/P's most of all. The Engrishness alone of the Advanced OP is amazing. Love 'em to pieces. ^^ -------------------- "I'm really glad I came here, you know? I've been all wrongheaded about this. Weeping, crawling, blaming everybody else. I want Dru back, I've just gotta be the man I was; the man she loved. I'm gonna do what I shoulda done in the first place: I'll find her, wherever she is, tie her up, torture her, until she likes me again." |

Battle Frontier and Watashi Makenai most definitely~ <3
I liked the Japanese opening animation for the Raikou special lots. Probably mostly because it showed characters that never really appeared in the main series[The Johto rival needs more than .5 seconds of airtime]. It was nice seeing them in animation. :D |

I like "Ready Go!" and this remix I have of the first opening. I've never listened to any of the others, although I want to. I should go look for them....
In case anyone is wondering, I don't remember where I downloaded the remix. It's been too long since I downloaded it. If you want to try to find it, I think it's called "Japanese Pokemon Theme (Para-para remix)". It's only two minutes long, but it's awesome. -------------------- |

Yes, the original op&eds are light years better that english ones, but it goes for the entire sound... dubbing especially...
I hate it when they seem to think that when something is targeted at kids, you can make it sound like a bunch of retards... ' -------------------- |

Hmm... I really like 'Together', 'Advanced Adventure' and 'Soko Ni Sora Ga Arukara', but at the moment, my favourite of the Japanese themes has to be 'Get Fired Up, Notch-Eared Pichu!' because it's so catchy and Notch-Eared Pichu is just adorable.
As for the English themes, the original, the Johto theme and 'Unbeatable!' are my favourites. -------------------- |
