Okay, I live in a place where wifi is just fine. I have NO clue how to connect my ds to my computer or use wifi.

start a game that's wifi compatible (a pokemon game works), select nintendo wfc settings -> nintendo wifi connection -> none -> search for an access point -> select and enter WEP key if needed.
