Global PokédeX Plus Forums _ News and Updates _ December Events

Posted by: Zerxer Dec 11 2016, 03:51 PM

It's December! The rather bitter 2016 is finally ending, but not before we get to enjoy some of the best holidays the year has to offer.

Being an adult without children, I've found Christmas hasn't really meant all that much to me anymore. The best part of the holiday now is simply the nostalgia... remembering what it was like each of my childhood years, the family I rarely ever see now, and the traditions I partook of.

The last twelve months, as the Bounsweet in this season of South Park have shown us, have been filled with different types of nostalgia, and bookended with Star Wars releases. With that in mind, I propose we go out with a nostalgic bang.

Sun and Moon recently had an incredibly successful launch, and we're working hard to get all of the new Pokémon added to GPX, but let's not forget how most of us felt when we played those first games while watching the first season of the show. I'd like to hold tribute to the original 151 Pokémon (...or at least the ones that are easily obtainable).

The Hanukkah event

This month, we'll be bringing back our Hanukkah event, with a twist. Normally you'd receive 1 coin for every Fire-type you hatch, but this year you'll receive 1 coin for every Generation 1 Pokémon egg you hatch. If the egg you hatch happens to hatch with a Gen 1 sprite ("Red/Blue", "Japanese Red/Green", and "Yellow"), you'll earn 5 coins. You'll also earn 20 coins for completing a daily Scavenger Hunt task. These coins are completely separate from all other currencies on the site.

Additional information on the Hanukkah event (click to show)

Scavenger Hunt
This month's Scavenger Hunt will start mid-month as always, running the entire second half of the month, but you'll only earn 20 coins for completing a task once the Hanukkah event starts (so the 23rd to the 31st).

Explorations
The two Christmas explorations, "The Twelve Days of Christmas" and "Secret of Christmas", have been activated and will run through the end of the month.

Secret Santa Exchange
We're finally doing this again! Feeling nostalgic? I know, I know, we did it last year... but that was the New Year's Exchange, totally different. This will happen over Christmas weekend, and I will post additional information around that time, but it'll work about the same as https://forums.gpx.plus/index.php?showtopic=73501... hopefully without any of the same issues.

New Year's Raffle
It's been so long since we've done one of these! The way this worked on New Year's 2012 was you'd have a day to be as active as possible, and for every 2012 points of Activity Score earned, you'd get one entry. We then handed out a certain number of legendary eggs, and you'd have a chance to get one based on the number of entries you earned. I'll post more information about this later, but since Hanukkah ends on New Year's Day, it may be based on your Coins instead of a single day's activity. Stay tuned!

I'm feeling festive so I may try to have some other surprises for you all this month! We hope you all have a safe and wonderful holiday season, no matter which holidays you celebrate, and I'm sorry if yours has never been represented by GPX -- you still matter to us!

  • Prize information relating to the Coins will be announced later, but likely the same as last year.

That's really good to hear - now people can be sure about what they'll get for what they put in. That was the only bad thing about the coin events last year and earlier this year.

I look forward to everything that's in store! And let me be the first to thank you and all the staff for everything you've done for the site and its users this year. happy.gif

Posted by: Luneon Dec 11 2016, 04:04 PM

Woah that sounds like we're up for quite an amazing and event-filled ride grin.gif
Thank you so much for organizing this all and I'm very much looking forward to participating

This is THE perfect time to start shiny hunts for Generation 1 Pokémon

As for the raffle I think I'm either entering a legendary or a shiny I've gotten
Because those are always fun to get I suppose, and I think the person on the receiving end might also be happy with one of those.
Especially with all the new members suddenly getting active, if I can help them fill their dex then it's certainly worth it.

Posted by: DraconicDM Dec 11 2016, 04:40 PM

Glad to see the new events. I'm super hyped about all of these!
I will probably enter a legendary for the raffle. Most likely a Hoopa or a summonable one. I don't have any other extras.

I hope I will be able to gather a lot of coins, and get some of the best rewards. That Shiny Legend Voucher Plus from last year is very attractive grin.gif grin.gif

Posted by: Tyranisaur Dec 11 2016, 04:48 PM

I got a shiny Zergoose from the exchange last time. Since I already had both forms shiny, I will give it back this time. Hopefully someone will appreciate that. It's also female.

Also looking forward to making a profit off of the dreidel again like I did on most days last year.

The Hanukkah event
  • Begins: Thursday, December 22nd at 11:55pm EST (site reset), which is two nights before Hanukkah begins.
  • Ends: Sunday, January 1st at 11:55pm EST (site reset), which is the night Hanukkah ends.
This month, we'll be bringing back our Hanukkah event, with a twist. Normally you'd receive 1 coin for every Fire-type you hatch, but this year you'll receive 1 coin for every Generation 1 Pokémon egg you hatch. So, I'm guessing this means that you shouldn't hatch Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Elekid, Tyrogue, Smoochum, and Magby? Because while those grow up to be Gen I pokemon, they are actually Gen II. {As well as Mime Jr and Happiny, but those are Gen IV pokemon who grow up to be Gen I.} Did I miss anyone else?

And also? My Christmas Exchange will be the Diancie I got earlier this month. I mean, that IS why I did the exploration in the first place, dontchaknow.

Posted by: Cao Dec 11 2016, 06:26 PM

I'm so happy the Secret Santa is back! Can't wait to read more about that!
Gotta decide what I'm putting in this year.

And yay for the Gen1 for the Hanukkah event! I have a few Gen1 shiny hunts going, so I'll focus on those ones!

Posted by: Hitaka5Ever Dec 11 2016, 06:50 PM

Sounds fun! The Hanukkah event will be awesome! I know which pokemon to hatch a crap ton of cat.gif

Posted by: Darth Krytie Dec 11 2016, 07:18 PM

Very excitement. grin.gif I love doing events. Lots of work but lots of fun and entertainment.

Posted by: x Sam Dec 11 2016, 08:33 PM

Oh my GOD I am so PUMPED for this. Like, really REALLY pumped. Maybe I'll actually try my hardest at these instead of half-ass trying like the few others years grin.gif

I can see Magikarp being a top contender but then you deal with houring eggs.. Hatch+ forever? lol. Much excite!

My xmas exchange I'll throw in the Sh. Dialga I got last year. May as-well try and finish up the summonable legends for shinies; I'm missing all of the Hoenn stuff so some of those would be nice.

Man if I can get top of the coins and get that Sh. Legendary Voucher Plus I can finally finish that Sh. Kyurem hunt.. crying.gif

Posted by: Earth Dec 11 2016, 09:05 PM

That top prize from coins earned is VERY inciting. Literally planning how to do it now.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Correct. The egg itself has to be of a Gen 1 Pokémon.

Posted by: Indigo Dreams Dec 12 2016, 01:16 AM

THANK YOU for organising all these events this month! I'm wondering how I'm gonna participate in everything but I'm sure I'll figure it out. wink.gif Happy Holidays, GPX+! Thank you for a lovely six months haha.

Posted by: Caprice Dec 12 2016, 02:08 AM

Can't think of a more fitting theme for these events... For myself, at least - it's nostalgia that made me type in the link to GPX+ after 3 years of being away. I was even sure there was another big wipe, like back in the day, and all the pokemon in my boxes had new owners now. Surprised they weren't, and here I am, hooked again, glad to be back.

Being an adult without children, somehow Christmas is still a big deal to me. And I'm happy about it, because I see my future with a person that has never celebrated Christmas (due to his religion), I want to bring all of the wonderful traditions to our relationship so that he can experience the magic.

And that's why reading this thread filled me with excitement, I am going to participate in everything I can! Thank you so much for organizing all of these, and for keeping this amazing website up for another year!

Posted by: CrooklynLB Dec 12 2016, 04:34 AM

Have we ever had an advent calendar on GPX?

Posted by: Mamanator Dec 12 2016, 09:57 AM

Oh wow! This sounds very exciting indeed! Guess I"ll have to brush up on the Gen 1 Pokemon. blush.gif It definitely sounds like a fun month so thank you for all your extra hard work on this! Hopefully I'll be able to participate enough to obtain a nice gift at the end of it all. Not sure what Pokemon to use in the gift exchange. I will have to see who I have in shiny form and whom I can spare in shiny form. Hopefully there will be something cool enough to make someone's day.

Sounds like December 2016 will be challenging yet fun on GPX. So thank you for thinking of us! love.gif

Posted by: Asbel Lhant Dec 13 2016, 11:13 AM

Wow how did I miss this announcement?

I am SO pumped for everything posted here, especially the prizes being similar to last year. It means I need to get enough points for that sweet Shiny Legend Voucher. I really want to get a non-summonable shiny legend so what better way than to earn coins!

Christmas isn't the same anymore when you can just BUY the things you want. I'm no longer a child who has to wait for my birthday or Christmas to get things. I can go to a store any time I want. The only thing different is we now do everything for my niece, we don't need to get gifts, she's all that matters now happy.gif.

I'll probably put the shiny Groudon I got in last year and hopefully get something new for the Pokedex.

Posted by: Breech Loader Dec 15 2016, 08:18 PM

I see your Secret Santa Exchange and I think somebody will be happy to know I'm planning to submit a Shiny Dracowwymsy.

So if you've got shiny novelties lousing around, now's the time to enter them. As long as it's not a Shiny Dracowymsy, of course... then again, that would mean neither you nor I would need one... How about Shiny Bidofo?

That's a thought; what happens when an odd number of Secret Santa eggs are exchanged? A voucher related to the kind of pokemon offered to one lucky person?

Sadly, I don't have any G1 shiny hunts going while I prep up for Hannukah (think I'll hatch some Spearow). But what the heck, we love Shiny Pokemon no matter how we get them.

It just goes in a circle. You don't get the pokémon of the who get's yours. The only problem is if there is only one pokémon entered in a category.

Posted by: Breech Loader Dec 15 2016, 09:07 PM

Well I don't have any shiny Legendaries in stock ( have a Deoxys but it hasn't gone through all the forms yet). Might as well turn out something as hard-core as possible and see what happens.

You don'r ask, you don't get.

Posted by: Shadow Fennekin Dec 17 2016, 04:20 AM

Ooooh.... I didn't see this until now.
I'll have to think of a gen 1 mon to hunt, aside from Eevee cause yeah.... bigger maturity.

Posted by: Breech Loader Dec 17 2016, 10:18 AM

I started hunting Nidoran M and F... and got Nidoran F in 7 hatches. Plus I'd already captured a shiny that day. The ONE TIME I'm not in a hurry, and it comes out early.

Posted by: Zerxer Dec 22 2016, 08:19 PM

I won't be home at reset, however I set everything for the Hanukkah event to automatically enable.

...this means if there's any bugs, I will be two hours delayed in responding and fixing them. I'm feeling confident though! Ramenman.gif

To answer some quick questions you might have:

Yes, the lab should start spawning more Gen 1 commons and uncommons.

Yes, if you're breeding any Pokémon that lay Gen 1 eggs, they should breed more.

No, Pokémon like Happiny do not count for anything in this event because they are not a Gen 1 egg, despite Chansey being Gen 1. Their entire line is not included in the previous two "Yes" lines.

Posted by: Stevesuke Nakamura Dec 23 2016, 12:12 AM

Coins aren't being awarded for gen 1 mons. I just hatched 6 magikarp an still have 0 coins. I picked the eggs up after reset.

Thirded. My Zubat didn't give me anything. I guess this means that there WAS a bug in the system. And it seems like it will be at least an hour more before it can be fixed. I guess that means I can pick up a replacement egg and then wait to hatch my other Kanto eggs until I wake back up.

Posted by: Walking On Sunshine Dec 23 2016, 01:14 AM

Completing the Scavenger Hunt task doesn't give you coins either yet.

Posted by: Esc Dec 23 2016, 01:15 AM

I'm guessing it'll be fixed once Zerx gets back.

Posted by: Zerxer Dec 23 2016, 01:38 AM

Sorry all, it's not a GPX event without at least one unexpected bug to delay it. Timezones got the better of me, it seems.

Should be operational now.

edit: Scavenger Hunt won't give coins yet, not until I credit everyone who already completed today's, then I'll activate it going forward.

edit: The 4 users who completed the task already should now have their 20 coins, and it should automatically credit the rest of you when you complete the task now.

No, sorry. I had to make sure to credit everyone for the scavenger hunt to keep it fair since others will come and complete today's task later and potentially be 20 coins ahead, but egg-wise everyone was in the same boat.

Haha, that's an even worse bug! Oh well, we'll call it a Christmas/Hanukkah miracle... but I've patched it now.

I suppose some lucky people will now be the owner of Ditto with parents.

edit: Actually, I decided to disable part of the Daycare boost... instead of always giving you eggs of the Gen 1 Pokémon, it'll work like normal, except you'll still breed more eggs than normal. Though if you pair what you want with a Ditto, I suppose that's the same thing anyway.

Wheee, this is exciting! My first ever event on GPX!
I guess I should start a shiny hunt for Gen 1 Pokemon, haha. I just bought the Shine Recorder a few days ago ^^

I may have to attempt another exploration as well, I just finished "Transforming the Heart", and I'm super-happy

Happy Holidays everyone!

Was about to ping someone on Discord about the Ditto breeding thing, as I picked one up lol. Interesting though! Definitely worth a keeper, even more amusing if it hatches shiny lol.gif

Already hatched a shiny Seel from my first lot of egg hatches which is pretty nice, so hopefully I'll hatch more.

Really need to make an effort with this!

Weird, because from what I understand from the first post of the topic, the exchange should be this weekend, right?

Posted by: DraconicDM Dec 23 2016, 11:15 AM

Maybe Zerxer forgot, that it's a Secret Santa exchange, and not the totally different New Year's exchange... grin.gif grin.gif

But yes, we could use some confirmation of the exact dates and times, of when the Santa exchange will happen.

I'll be posting more info on the Secret Santa Exchange, and enabling submissions, sometime today. You'll have all of tomorrow and maybe Christmas itself to deposit something.

I do not know. There was no mention of it in the new Secret Santa thread. Maybe it was overlooked? Manaphy and Phione are disabled, though that should be due to how they breed.

ed: I think it should be in the summonable category, or disabled. It's a very common one.

From the looks of things, some people get nothing but douples and free spins on the Dreidel. Sometimes I feel like that thing has a pattern. After all, you can only spin 30 at a time.

Posted by: Hitaka5Ever Dec 24 2016, 12:33 AM

The Dreidel is kicking my ass really hard. My luck is really shitty lol (I only have a total of 11 after one day) idk if I'm putting in an exchange Poke bc I don't have any extra shinies to give aside from Autumn Tropius (which I don't really want to give one away bc I was able to get a male AND female very close together, so they're special) Tho maybe I'll give up one of my Durants for my shiny Durant army. I think I'll wait in case I get a shiny from any gen 1 eggs tho

These were the prizes last year.

In February (the Valentines Coin event) the top twelve, iirc, ranks (again may be wrong but I think it was > 3500 Coins) were given Shiny Legend Vouchers Plus, because so many people had so many coins that the voucher would not be a rare prize. If that happens again in this I very much doubt that 1500 will be the amount of coins of you have to get... if you really want a SLVP, you should aim to be in the top 10 of coins at the end of the event.

I stuck a Shiny Novelty into the Exchange. I'm pretty sure I only had that as a Shiny Novelty, so, I'm almost sure to get something I don't have!

Posted by: DraconicDM Dec 24 2016, 01:14 PM

I really hope that's not the case. Even 1500 seems near impossible to me.
This is practically the only chance for the more casual members for a shiny legendary. 1500 coins is already near impossible for them, but if they spend some time, and are lucky in these ten days, they may manage.

If it's changed to top x, it should be said now. That way I won't waste my time trying to get 1500 coins. I have zero chance at even the top 20...

ed: it's my first time participating in a similar event, so I may have overestimated the difficulty, but still...

I hate to say it, but we're talking about the top prize of a once-a-year (sometimes even less frequent) event. It's not exactly something that "casual" players are meant to be able to achieve if they're going to stay at a "casual" level of activity.

This is practically the only chance for the more casual members for a shiny legendary.

I hate to say it, but we're talking about the top prize of a once-a-year (sometimes even less frequent) event. It's not exactly something that "casual" players are meant to be able to achieve if they're going to stay at a "casual" level of activity.

Yep, but they have a chance. A lot of work for ten days, and they can get that one shiny legendary that they have been dreaming of. If only the 12 players with the most coins get the shiny legend voucher, they don't even have that.

You can be a casual player, summon a legendary with an item and get a shiny.
The site works with putting effort in, you get results. So if you really want to try and get the top prize, you've really got to try.

e: In regards to the cut off points or how high they're 'rise the mark', we don't know until the event is over so that's more than likely when it's decided.

Just remember regardless of however many coins you get you'll still get a prize happy.gif Yes, it may not be what you WANT, but it's better than nothing at all.

In all seriousness, can you only earn one prize or all of them if you get enough coins?

Just one. I believe Scratchcards were a standard prize up until a certain low coin threshold, but other than that you got the prize for the range that you fell under.

(don't quote me on scatchcards tho)

Posted by: Breech Loader Dec 24 2016, 04:27 PM

I want that Shiny voucher. Any shiny voucher. But both are good.

How else am I going to work on my Shiny Achievements?

Also, you never know what your scratch cards will involve. Could be cool vouchers. Could be boring old heart sweets.

I know that. I just feel that with the "top x" type of rewarding, a lot of people won't even have a chance at the top prize. And I'm not really talking about myself here. (I'm at #29 atm, so maybe I even have a small chance of getting into the top 20)
It just feels wrong to me if this event is not about everyone working together to hatch a bunch of old pokémon, but competing against each other for the set number of top prizes. It just... feels different...

Well, you don't have to compete. Just hatch what you can and enjoy it, I guess. Besides, we can't just... give out the top prize to everyone. That really wouldn't be fair.

I know. I just try to improve GPX+ in the ways I can. Mostly by starting, or continuing discussions like these. Before anyone misunderstands, I know it's not my place to make these decisions, but I feel that discussing them, and letting the admins hear the opinion of both myself and other people, can only help.

I won't say that I wouldn't prefer if the prizes were distributed only according to the number of coins you have, unrelated to how many other people have. But I understand, that this decision is not mine to make, and I will accept whatever it will be.

As a sidenote, if the prizes won't be the same as last year (or the requirements for them), I think it would help to reveal the details as soon as possible.

There's actually a very simple reason why we don't get this information beforehand. It doesn't exist yet. The rewards are based on how users perform. It's day 2 out of 10, we have one fifth of the data. Who knows how the rest will go. It actually largely depends on how many of the following days will have multipliers, and we don't know how many there will be.

Posted by: Earth Dec 24 2016, 10:14 PM

Well, I think it was to be expected that the coins people would get would be higher than before because of the lower maturity eggs. Actually thought 1.5k would make the cut, so I did a blitz to get it since I wanted to focus on events on Pokemon Go and another mobile game I play afterwards. I'll prob just tread water the rest of the way and secure a top 10 I guess.

Essentially the staff have two options: set a threshold and see how many people surpass it, then give them all that prize (even if they don't tell us what that threshold is), or decide the threshold based on how far people have got. They've gone for the latter, and it's clear this decision is motivated by a choice: either they could give out an unlimited number of Shiny Legend Vouchers Plus, or they could only give out a limited number of them. Probably for the reason that, well, shiny Legendaries are special because they are rare, the staff have decided that if they are going to give out an item that allows you to get these, they aren't going to give out very many. With the way that this event is structured, although it makes the event very competitive and means that only the people who play the game the most can win - there really isn't a better way to give out some very special prizes without making them so common as to not be special any more (and that far from means 'everyone has one').

I don't know. I'm sure I'm treading ground that has been tread before, now and last February, but I wanted to make that point. The staff have decided they are only giving out ten or twelve of these vouchers, the structure of the prizes is actually a result of that.

According to a post in last year's event thread (I think?), only the top 5 got a shiny legend voucher.
Idk about the "normal" shiny voucher, I can't remember how many people fell into that category and I can't find it anywhere either.

Come on Dreidel, be good for me...

Posted by: The Kraken Dec 28 2016, 09:05 AM

So I'm trying to fill up my novelty dex, and one of the pokemon I'm still missing is Dreident. I looked on the wikia page, and it says you can get a dreidel item trough "Hanukkah Events". I'm aware this might be outdated information, but is there a way to get one currently?

Also, have there been any updates about the coin prizes? I'm not good at keeping up with news. I thought that the prizes were guaranteed for those who reach a certain number or coins, but skimming trough this thread I learned that it might just be a number of top players?? That would really suck imo, getting to a certain number, like 1500 is already not something just anyone can manage to do, so it's not like the shiny legends would become super abundant all of a sudden.

Is there a place where you can see the top players in terms of coins and how much they have?

Based on last year, there will be scratch cards handed out as part of the ongoing event. Those scratch cards can give Dreidels. Also afterwards, some of the users who got these are likely to sell them, so even if you don't get any, it will be a good idea to pay attention to the Back Room after the prizes get handed out.

The prize brackets are not determined yet. They aren't purely based on either coin totals or ranks. If a lot of users perform at the top with small gaps between then, you can expect a lot of these users to get placed int he same bracket. At the same time, the brackets will be such that a reasonable number of users get the prizes.

The standings are available on lists on the users page. There are statistics for both coins total, coins today and coins in a day records.

Posted by: Indigo Dreams Dec 29 2016, 02:35 AM

I'm really not bothered by how the prizes are given out; currently at 658 coins and #83. I'm probably not gonna get to a thousand coins so I'm accepting that I'm gonna get a Legend Voucher Plus, even if a Shiny Novelty would have been nice... This event was still super fun and I got a Shiny Charmander out of it. grin.gif Plus, I've never seen the site this active in a long time.

I hope 2017 sees more contests and events. grin.gif

Speaking of coins, I've essentially doubled my coins in the last 48 hours so that's good lol. Since I'm well past 300 and unlikely to reach 1000, I'm kinda just betting coins now and then and seeing if I can get somewhere close to 1000. I'm constantly running out of Shelter grabs too which is just as fun as it sounds.

Update on the New Years Raffle:

Everyone will be eligible to receive the distributed prize, but you can increase your chances based on your activity score Sunday (January 1st). The good news is some members have filled up Hatch+, so that will be active tomorrow to help you out!

You will receive an additional entry in the raffle for every 2017 points of activity score you have.

This means the one-day raffle event will run from Saturday, December 31st at 11:55pm EST until Sunday, January 1st at 11:55pm EST — all of Sunday the 1st, server time.

The raffle prize will be distributed at some point after that reset (note that multiple people — hundreds — will be receiving the prize, not just one).

Remember, the Hanukkah coin event also ends at the same time: Sunday, January 1st at 11:55pm EST. So Sunday is your last day to rack up some additional coins, more reason to boost that activity score!

Prizes are probably not changing from last year's so just look at the list from last year. I think it's on page 3 and then you can decide if it's worth it.

Prizes from Coins earned from Hanukkah and the Scavenger Hunt
Users will receive 1 Scratch Card for every 20 coins collected (maximum of 15 Cards; users with less than 20 coins will still receive 1 Card)
Users who collected between 300 and 999 coins will receive a Legend Voucher Plus
Users who collected between 1000 and 1499 coins will receive a Shiny Voucher Plus
Users who collected 1500 coins or more will receive a Shiny Legend Voucher Plus

These will not be the prizes. Why do people keep ignoring the February event we had as well? That will be a much better indicator of the Coin thresholds:
QUOTE(Zerxer @ Feb 1 2016, 05:05 AM) *
I hope you all enjoyed the 7th Anniversary / Valentine's Day event(s) for February!

Prizes for coins have been handed out.

For every 60 coins, a scratch card was rewarded, for a max of 15 (and a minimum of 1, if you got at least 1 coin). You would need at least 900 coins to get all 15 scratch cards.

125 users who earned between 900 and 1799 coins received a Legend Voucher Plus.

68 users who earned between 1800 and 3899 coins received a Shiny Voucher Plus.

The 12 users who earned more than 3900 coins received a Shiny Legend Voucher Plus.

If the limit for the Shiny Legend Voucher Plus was only 1500 coins, then right now thirty-nine users would get them, and likely many more by the end of the day. That's just wishful thinking.

Posted by: Lini Jan 1 2017, 09:00 AM

I'm sure hoping that the threshold for shiny legend voucher is 1500 coins instead of getting into the top 12 'cause there's no way I'm making my way into that at this point.

Personally I'm just gonna try to reach 2000 and stop after that, then whatever comes of it will be what it is.

Okay. I've had enough. Thank you for being this annoying.

If they want people to plan according to the February event, mention that in the event post, and not last year's December event.
If they want to distribute only a set number of SLVPs, they should say it at the start of the event, and people will plan accordingly.
I have registered in August. Do you really think I should know what was discussed during the event in February?
Why is it so hard to give a little more information about these rewards before the event ends? The exact numbers are not even necessary, just something like, "We are planning on giving out about 10 SLVPs".
And do you know what is the most annoying thing? If they know the coins required for the prizes will be completely different than last year, why do they say that the prizes will likely be the same? Can't they see the misunderstandings this will cause?

ed.: Sorry, that was only the second most annoying. The first is your attitude.

Posted by: Cao Jan 2 2017, 12:09 AM

And I'm over here just happy that I got to 350 coins haha.
Last time I barely had 50, so it's a personal best!

Though over the past few days the dreidel hated me - I think I had one span of one gimel for something like 20 spins? it was crazy.

If they know the coins required for the prizes will be completely different than last year, why do they say that the prizes will likely be the same? Can't they see the misunderstandings this will cause?

Because the prizes likely WILL be the same? The variable will be how many coins you need to get to arrive at those specific prizes.

EDIT - @Cao: Not me. I got a lot of Gimel and/or Shin. Of course, the most I wagered was 10 coins, so I only ended up netting 755 coins for the entire event, but ...

I made just over 1k coins -dies- that Dreidel really has hated me this time around.

Glad to see I'm not the only one the dreidel seemed to have it out for. Earlier today, I had a straight two hours of 'Shin' followed by 'Hei' or 'Nul' before it FINALLY gave my a 'Gimel'.

I managed to scrape together 1.635 coins despite it being so finicky, but I had to work my tail off the past two days to get to it since I couldn't during the weekday due to work. Looking over scores others have gotten, I probably won't qualify for a Sh. Legend Voucher, but I can hope~

I found mine by going to my browser history and finding the Dreidel page. Then, I just looked at my last spin to see how many total coins I netted.

Posted by: Jade Jan 2 2017, 12:33 AM

hnnngh 4898. I wanted to strive for 5,000 but it just wasn't gonna happen. I did beat my last coin record for a day though, which had been like 700+. Now my new coin record is 837.

I finished 9th.

Posted by: H1Z1 Jan 2 2017, 12:33 AM

you can see it in "total coins" in the statistics tab.

I did about 1340ish so I'm alright with that considering almost half was just yesterday and that netted me roughly #67

Should be pretty good to see what these prizes are going to be though.

I had amazing dreidel luck on the 3rd day of the event and it all just went downhill from there haha. Stopped playing it on the last few days because I was just getting so many nuns and heis.

I'm exhausted from all the clicking and hatching but excited to see what the raffle has in store happy.gif

Ouch, sounds like my 26th *pat pat*. I just kept spamming 4 coins until I finally broke out of it whenever I got into that rut.

Posted by: Serend Jan 2 2017, 01:03 AM

Ended up with 1,815 coins and an activity score of 66,049. Not expecting anything special tbh.

aaaaaand this was meant for the community thread rip, oh well. That's what I get for having three GTS tabs.

Posted by: Mamanator Jan 2 2017, 01:07 AM

While I've no real idea how many coins I netted from the event, I followed the link provided by Myou (thank you!) and it said I have a total of a whopping - are ya ready for it - 100 coins. lol.gif I'm not upset with that though; after all, I made a conscience choice to not be active and it was hard to remember to come back and spin the dreidel.

Congratulations to those who were active. If you all remember that it was just a fun game for our enjoyment rather than a race to collect the most coins for the best prize then you played the game right. I have no idea what (if anything) I'll get from these coins and I'm OK with that, too. I just loved that GPX honored both the Christmas holiday as well as the Hanukkah holiday. I think there were many others going on at the time, but that they recognized these two meant a lot to me. love.gif It's why I love GPX. They try very hard to get us not only the most current Pokemon from the newest games but they try to find ways to keep us engaged and returning. And returning I will be. *nods emphatically* It's just been rough being active with both girls home, two brand new dogs, and being worried about other things going on as well.

But I love GPX and the fun side events (except the artistic ones with sprite creation because, yeah, I'm so NOT an artist LOL) that they plan and work so hard for us.

Happy New Year, GPX! You are an awesome fun website and you always try to provide interactive games to pass the time.

For now I'm going to bed, but I do hope that those who weren't happy with the coins remembers to take a moment and wear a smile. It's the first day of the new year. Let's wear a smile. K? grin.gif

Posted by: Vande Jan 2 2017, 02:13 AM

I was 251 in the Activity score and 116 in the Dreidel - falls over. Did the best I could. Now we wait.

Posted by: Doom Hunter Jan 2 2017, 02:34 AM

Welp. Another year, another year of apathy from Doomy. xD

I only got roughly 780 coins. Fair enough, considering I had a lot of work and other business to do during the event. I'm content with what I'll get, no matter what it is. But I was KILLING it on Dreidel. Not a single Nun, and only 3 Heis. That's with like 12 Gimels.

Posted by: Silberchen Jan 2 2017, 03:15 AM

Man, I didn't notice the raffle part at all. Welp. xD.gif
Can't say I had much time to play during the event as a whole, so yeah I'm pretty apathetic too.

350 lucky users have received a Tapu Koko Voucher. Enjoy!

Hanukkah prizes coming later today, stay tuned.

Speaking of which, I'd really love to see a new special exploration for any of the Gen 7 legends/ultrabeasts. Solgaleo and Lunala could share one...

I'm glad that more of Gen 7 is being added

Huh, that's interesting. So the event was really about as competitive at the top end, despite some users going really hard at it for the top spot (which I think ought be especially rewarded!). But at the lower end it was less so that in February, which was the feeling I'd got throughout, that people weren't putting quite as much in. So hey, maybe the Shiny Voucher threshold will come down closer to 800? eyes.gif

I can't say that I'm part of that because I fought to get 1000+ coins more than I did last time grin.gif
Even to the point that my family kinda doesn't like me atm because I dedicated 15+ hours per day to GPX+ instead of spending all the time with them as I was supposed to.

I hope that I get anything but idk... looking at how some behaved, the mods might choose to only reward the top for their patience and effort.

Man, I picked a good time to pick GPX back up again, haha. Can't say I'm expecting to get much from the Hannukah stuff, but that's all on me- with only a 1 in 4 chance to increase your coins from the dreidel, I didn't bother with it hardly at all. Pretty much all my coins were scav + a metric ton of gen 1 egg hatching.

Still, I'm curious to see who gets what. ovo For now, I'm off to go see Moana on my last day of vacation.

Hanukkah/Coin prizes have been given out!

As I mentioned, the prizes wound up being about the same as the last (February) coin event.

For every 60 coins, a scratch card was awarded, for a max of 15 (and a minimum of 1, if you got at least 1 coin). You would need at least 900 coins to get all 15 scratch cards.

86 users who earned between 900 and 1799 coins received a Legend Voucher Plus.

28 users who earned between 1800 and 3499 coins received a Shiny Voucher Plus.

The 12 users who earned more than 3500 coins received a Shiny Legend Voucher Plus.

Your scratch cards, which are again "Frozen Fortune" with artwork by Volmise, can be redeemed here (also in the header): http://gpx.plus/scratch-cards

edit: A new summoning item has been added for Volcanion. Volcanion has been added to the (Sh.) Legend Voucher Plus. The Alolan starters have been added to the Sh. Voucher Plus.

Posted by: x Sam Jan 3 2017, 12:20 AM

Aaaaaaaaah I used my voucher straight away on my eggo.

This can FINALLY end. So happy right now crying.gif

Thank you for the event! I got a couple of summon items from the cards, as-well as some credits, vitamins and lots of flame orbs (plus evolution items I don't really need but will keep because why not)

Posted by: Asbel Lhant Jan 3 2017, 12:20 AM

Though I'm already happy enough with winning Tapu Koko in the raffle. Eh, you can't win them all.

Yup! They can be found in the prize shop as well as the underground!

Well at least I can get Virizion now and have all the legends

The top tier actually went 400 lower than the last time; the other tiers stayed the same.

In regards to Volcanion; by summoning item, do you mean something similar to the Lunar Wing, Red Orb etc? And will this summoning item be found in chests? (assuming that it is, of course how I am assuming)

Yes, just like those. It's not been added to a chest, but it's in the prize shop rotation. It can also be gotten from scratch cards.

Am I correct in assuming it's also been added to the list of Pokemon that the Enigma Stone can summon, then?

I didn't. Mostly forgot, but will check with the team if we want to go that route.

@.@

I was all sad cause I didn't get enough coins for a Shiny Voucher.

But I used my Legend Voucher to get a Celebi, since its a cutie and I hadn't gotten one yet.

AND IT HATCHED SHINY.

...

Are you sure you didn't mix up the rewards *^*

Are you sure...? According to https://forums.gpx.plus/index.php?showtopic=73493, the reward tiers were 300-999, 1000-1499, and 1500+.
This year's tiers of 900-1799, 1800-3499, and 3500+ are certainly much higher, no?

I'm so happy to have come home again to more goodies!

The very first scratch card I did, I got the dreidal so I figured it was pretty common but also wondering how no one else was getting them. That was actually the only one I got, and a lot of the other items I got from the scratch cards I really needed too.

I hope everyone enjoyed their vouchers and cards!

On another note,
the cards are actually a lot of fun to work for, is the December event the only event that they are given out as prizes on?

As I mentioned, the prizes wound up being about the same as the last (February) coin event.

The February reward tiers were much higher than the December '15 ones, because so many more people earned so many more Coins.

Ahhh guess I glanced over that. Completely forgot there was a coin event in February, haha.

I didn't get much, but I'm happy with what I did get, so that's fine with me. I got a single scratch card, a Tapu Koko voucher, and an Azelf egg. So close enough. ^.^

Good morning all.

Today I'm working a half day from home (and am about to start up the work laptop) but wanted to drop by and thank GPX for the scratch card. I wasn't able to do much with the coins because, well, the driedel hates me beyond hate. Only 1 out of every 5 spins for me is a Gimmel and 1 out of every 3 is either loose half or loose all. Doh! But it's ok. I managed to snag one card at least and I got my first DNA Splicer. *jaw drop* I can't recall what it is used on, but I am grateful to have it in my possession. It's more than what I deserve. So - thank you!

I'm also grateful to this month's distribution event as I wound up with yesterday's egg. love.gif It just so happens to come from that one exploration that is a pain in my keester. -_-2.gif I seriously detest that exploration so I'm glad to have that egg in my party. I'll have to repeat this in that thread (so whomever chose it knows at least one other person is happy with their choice).

Again, GPX, thank you for all the wonderful activities you offered us last month. If we didn't take advantage of it it was very nice of you to still offer us the one scratch card. So my thanks is sincere. Truly. love.gif

A few existing special evolution items have finally been added to the prize shop rotation now as well.

Am I wrong or does that do nothing at all as long as thee are no slots for special evolution items to rotate into?

This is a stupid noob question but where are the scratch cards found if you have them? Maybe they're not showing up on mobile, but I didn't see them in my inventory and I thought I got at least a few hundred coins. I'm probably just missing something though ^^;;

They don't appear in the inventory. They can only be accessed from https://gpx.plus/scratch-cards, which only appears on the main site in the "Latest updates" bar and as far as I know probably doesn't appear on the mobile site at all. Given how the scratch cards work, I'm not sure you'd even be able to use them on mobile, even if you follow the link. You'll almost certainly need to use a proper computer.

They actually work very well on mobile (you can scratch them with your finger! fun!) but yes you have to access them through that link, which has to be done through the main site.

If you find that even after trying to go directly to https://gpx.plus/scratch-cards that it's trying to direct you to the mobile site, you can first go to https://gpx.plus/mob/1 to tell the site you want to use the full site on your mobile device. To get back to the mobile site, just go to https://m.gpx.plus/

Really happy to have gotten a Tapu Koko egg and also 15 scratch cards and a Legend Voucher Plus, definitely an awesome event, and I'll finally get my Hoopa-U with the prison bottles I got from the scratch cards.

Thanks to the staff, was an awesome month with lots of fun!

Hanukkah/Coin prizes have been given out!

For every 60 coins, a scratch card was awarded, for a max of 15 (and a minimum of 1, if you got at least 1 coin). You would need at least 900 coins to get all 15 scratch cards.

I don't remember my total coins amount but it was more than 60.
Does it mean I should have at least one card? Because I don't have and page with scratching says only 403 Error - Restricted Area. o_O

https://gpx.plus/scratch-cards is the page you're trying to visit, right? I can visit it even though I have no cards now, I can imagine it would deny you if you had never used a card either, though.
If you earned any coins, you should have at least one card; you can check how many coins you had in the Statistics tab of your Pokétch, or https://gpx.plus/dreidel (hover over the 0 Coins bit). If it's not zero - the only think I can think is that you weren't logged in!

I would have done a lot better if I hadn't' forgotten about this site for three days while I was playing Stardew Valley. I mean, I'd been aiming for Shiny vouchers, I ripped myself apart trying for over a week, and then I bought Stardew Valley and ended up playing it for 16 hours a day.

That's what happens with that game. I'm sorry to bring it up here, but honestly, it's just awesome (if totally different to this)
