Talk about whatever you want, whether it's GPX related or something going on in your personal life, just be sure to read the rules first before posting. There's always someone on the forums to read and respond to your posts, so chat away and maybe you'll meet some great people!

Rules

• Regular forum rules still apply here. Basically don't double post. Don't ask for clicks every time you fill your party. Unless it gets out of hand*, I'm okay with you linking to an exploration Pokemon who needs a specific berry.
  
  *out of hand meaning I don't want to see Pokémon being linked just for leveling or if they need drinks for happiness. These kinds of interactions can be handled just fine by being in your parties and signatures.
  
  
• Do not post your shinies here, there's a http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showtopic=5491 for that. Discussing them is OK though! Just make sure you add content to your post.
  
  
• Make sure your post contains worthwhile content. If you're posting an exploration Pokémon to be fed berries then be sure to add other content to your post. Same with discussing shinies. Find people to reply to or start a discussion yourself! Your post must, with the shiny portion and berry feeding hypothetically removed*, not read as if you're talking to yourself. To clarify, your post should not be an out-loud thought to yourself, and should contain more general discussion than just information on your current shiny luck.
  
  *if you were to read your post, skipping over any mention of shinies, the post should still sound like a good post.
  
  If any posts are found breaking this rule then they will be instantly deleted and handed a 10% warn.
  
  
• Do not post your GPX+ gear grinders in this thread either. There's also a http://forums.gtsplus.net/index.php?showtopic=49472 for that. This is mostly for raging at staff or site events that you don't like.

How to get an egg from this event

• You must keep at least one slot open in your party.
• You MUST have logged in sometime on GPX+ in the last two weeks.
• You can not be in the restricted group.

IMPORTANT EVENT NOTES

1. No, you do NOT have to be online at the time I am sending out eggs.
2. These eggs do NOT show up in the Lab for the event. They are sent out randomly.
3. There is ONE set shiny for each Pokémon, but every other egg has a regular chance of being shiny.
4. If you obtain ONE of the eggs from this event, you will NOT be able to obtain another one from this same event. This means if you get an egg on day 1 of this event, you can't get an event egg from any other day during this event. By the way, abandoning an event egg does nothing. So if you get one you might as well keep it and be happy.
5. If we find any accounts being made just to get eggs from the event then they will be immediately banned along with your main.
6. If you were a winner of the raffle, your chosen Pokémon will be spawned into your party on the day of the event. It won't be forced shiny, but there's always a small chance just like any other egg! This will not count as an event egg and you can still receive one from the event.
7. There is no guarantee that you'll receive an egg.
8. Eggs chosen will not be available to pick from again for 3 months. If x egg was in the January egg distribution, then it can not be chosen again until April.
9. The event runs at 4 p.m. server time.

Event dates and what's being handed out

• December 2nd: Cobalion - Winner: Synx Itax - 200 eggs
• December 3rd: Tapu Koko - Winner: Sportsfan666 - 200 eggs
• December 4th: Victini - Winner: Vulpix D - 200 eggs
• December 5th: Articuno - 200 eggs
• December 6th: Meloetta - 200 eggs

Important notice:
This will be the last egg distribution for the foreseeable future. The community threads will continue, but they will no longer be monthly, nor will there be an incentive to participate in them.

New month! Wow, I can’t believe it’s the end of the year already. Where did 2017 go? It seems like time just passes faster and faster. December is far from my favorite month. It’s a stressful time. Too many expectations and setup. I know, I have very little holiday spirit. Christmas is lovely, but it’s not worth the month of panic that precedes it.

Still trying to find that Feebas in Emerald. :P Took a break, though, so it hasn’t been a solid ten hours of Route 119. And yikes, I had a Type: Null I wanted to hatch for the PokeHunt. It was at 99% at the reset. So close.

...The egg distributions are ending? That's... actually really depressing to me. I always enjoyed them at the start of every month. Is there a reason behind this? (I mean, I'm sure there is, but I'm curious as to why.)

December is usually not too crazy for me; I only shop for a couple of people and don't do anything super intense when it comes to decorating. Just a couple of trees and stuff around the house. We don't bother with outside lights.

I'm gonna try for a shiny Cobalion for the egg giveaway. Figured I'd ask for something a little different in this raffle.

My guess regarding the stopping of the giveaways and monthly threads is the activity level, but I don't know for sure.

I'd also wager that might be the reason; if it was a different site I'd theorize that it was being taken away because some didn't want people completing their Pokedexes too quickly. I've run into some bad staff before, but you all are quite responsible.

I'm really sad to hear the Egg Distribution is ending, that's one of the things that keeps me active (and they're like the only way I manage to get legendaries, I'm so fail at summons...)

Egg distributions were definitely one of those things that were always magical, going back to my early memories of the site. You'd be clicking whoever and then think, "Where did people get these cool eggs?"

SWSHs are definitely enjoyable, but I always like catching the new threads each month too (obviously).

Okay, somebody please remind me to stop taking on shiny hunts. I'm burning through all my Shelter Grabs within the first few hours after reset now, and my hunt Eggs rarely appear in the Lab.

Another new month on GPX Plus, always a fun time! I hope everyone's enjoying the season!
The new Egg Distribution choices look good, gonna go for Articuno or Tapu Koko since I have the other three. Though it makes me sad to see it go, it was always something I looked forward to.

Speaking of Koko, I just got back from seeing the movie Coco and I thought it was phenomenal. Great writing, a touching story, and colorful, immersive visuals!

I just noticed what the prize was for the SWSH and I'm so glad I managed to finish my shiny hunt. I can't wait for the voucher to be available to use, but knowing me I'll forget until a few days down the road XD.

Started the Tapu exploration, I was saving up my Prize Points so I could buy another Legend Voucher for the two Tapu's I needed. Now I don't have to worry about spending all of those prize points. I'm going to finish the exploration and pick either Tapu Lele or Tapu Fini. Whatever one I do not choose I'll use the Legend Voucher to choose the other. I've had this in my inventory for months, so at least I can use it now.

Tapu Koko needs some help, please give it some Pecha Berries:

I'm sorry that the egg distribution is going away, but I understand. I'm going to try for Tapu first, and if I don't get it gonna try for an Articuno (and hopefully get lucky with a shiny to finish that hunt!). I'm excited that there are two options from this group that I could use!

Does anyone know if another pokemon exchange is happening this year? (Throw in a pokemon, receive another pokemon of the same class.) I lost track of things last year and missed out, so I'm hoping to join in this year if it's going on again.

I think the exchanges happen every year. I'll be tossing in some sort of shiny I have a duplicate of if there is one. I have a handful of extra shinies, so I might make a little poll and let people decide which I toss in.

I'm probably going to stay up long enough to finish TBD. Only 11k interactions to go so its not that bad.

How are holiday preparations going for everyone? We'll start decorating this weekend, and I'm looking forward to it.

You're keeping a party space open at 4PM server time on the specific days, right? Its really odd that you haven't gotten any eggs if you have your party open when they are handed out. I'm pretty sure 90% of people get the egg they are looking for, too.


I noticed a new type of task in this exploration. I already met the requirements, but it was pretty cool seeing new tasks implemented regardless. Now i'm onto this task and this guy needs Pecha berries if anyone wants to help out.

Finally finished the Tapu explorations and I have a lovely Tapu Fini egg in my party. It was a lot of fun doing it for the second time, the longest task was definitely the feeding task, but it is now complete. I used my Legend Voucher Plus as well and got a Tapu Lele egg, so other than Arceus(barring Ground), I have all the legends/UBs.

We haven't done any decorating for Christmas yet. My mom usually starts getting stuff ready around my birthday(which is December 19th ). I bought a couple light sets that I plan on putting up in my window. I'm not that big into Christmas decorating, I'm allergic to a lot of the decorations, ESPECIALLY ones with glitter. Heck, I can't even touch the Christmas tree without breaking into a rash.

I started another shiny hunt, most of my hunts are novelties which don't pop up with Sweet Honey. I'm going after a Pikipek this time. I started a Stufful hunt a few days ago but I haven't been finding any of them in the shelter. I really should clear up a few of my older hunts before I start new ones.

Congratulations to all who were able to find their shiny from November in time. I was real shocked last night. I came back just before 6 my time and saw that the eggs were ready to hatch, so I did. I wasn't really going to come back, but after seeing some work emails I thought I'd handle (since the computer was still on and I had the program open) I opted to come back to GPX one last time yesterday.

I was pretty sure I'd fail with the SWSH [again] so when Miracle was born I was taken aback. I'm happy that I was able to get that shiny in before the clock struck. *happy dancing*

I'm sorry to hear that the egg distribution is going away; I'm sure it was a huge undertaken and time consuming to coordinate. Thank you for bringing it back for the time that it was here. I'm going to try and be very active so that I might get Tapu KoKo, but I won't hold my breath and will hope for at least one of the last distributed eggs [for now]. I fully believe that it'll make another return - in time.

So. December. Hanukkah. Christmas. Eggnog. Yum! I think I'll charge myself with completing the quest I've been on for so long now (thank goodness it is a "normal" quest and not timed!). It'll be nice to finish it. I'll have my work cut out for me but I think I can do this.

For now, I have to shut down and get to the office so... for now... adieu. I'll catch ya's later this afternoon!

The ending of the distributions kind of worries me... though I must admit I haven't been that active on the site lately myself. This is largely due to the lack of space - we get so many new pokemon on the site (Alola, the huge amount of Jump Magikarp etc.), and the only activity left for me is shiny hunting. I want to keep playing, but I'm down to 3 boxes for fails, which doesn't even take new novelties into account, and it's only going to get worse from here.

I don't know how much this affects other people's activity levels, but it might be a factor.

In other news, I remembered to do the monthly special explorations for November on the last day, so now I'm on Meloetta, this month I'll do Darkrai and the Tapu. As far as I know, those are the explorations with the highest interaction tasks. Add 12 Days of Christmas at some point and this is going to be a clickheavy month. (If I hate myself enough, I might start another Arceus run as well.)

me, personally, im sad to see the egg distributions leave. but i understand, theres always reasons... and my excitement about winning the shiny hunt is still very high! it was my first hatched shiny since i joined the game, i think. and i cant wait to use the voucher. ^^
and i love these explorations! hopefully i can get one done this month. i still dont reach the requirements of any, but im closest to 'deep in the laboratory'... so i guess ill try for that one.

Well the egg distribution has had a good run. I was able to get a few new cool things out of that. I'm happy to have been luckier this time around than I was in the past. As for explorations, I'm doing the Tapu one right now and I'm not sure about the other one. Hard to believe that we're knocking on the door of a new year.

I agree that I'm running out of space. We haven't had a new influx of boxes in a long time, and it was adequate at the time, but we've gotten two new gens since then. I'm still able to buy boxes at 1m coins per pop, but for obvious reasons that's not something I can do casually. And I only have five boxes of shinies. Others, I can see how they would have run out of space entirely.

I haven't bought US/UM; like I said, can't justify spending $50 on a video game [unless it's some old cartridge game you can't get anymore whatsoever]. I'll wait until it goes down in price.

And I'll admit I've tried to cut back on the Pokemon hoarding, but I'm also running out of space. Pretty much every free space in my PC has become a dump box of sorts. Anyways, been having major internet issues today, and for some reason this site is one of the only ones I can access without if giving me connection errors. I've already missed half the classes I had scheduled for today, boo.

well I failed the swsh because Bounsweet hates me and because college and USUM took up the majority of my time

Speaking of which, I finally got my shiny Poipole in US after like 4 days of SRing. This marks my 5th shiny after Nihilego, Buzzwole, Xurkitree, and Azelf. Kartana is next but only because I don't want to leave the Ultra Forest for fear of never finding it again

I'm not okay with it being December because cold sucks
at least I'm almost done with this semester


edit: sucks about the giveaways, I liked getting free legends in hopes of a shiny

I'm in the same spot, not enough room in my boxes for new novelties and I'm running out of room for the new Alola stuff too. I've got 3 boxes for filling with shiny hunt fails, and they fill up SO quickly...so I go days where I don't hatch anything just waiting for release time (which I never remember whether it's 12 hours or 24 hours, so I usually just wait 24 hours or more)

I joined the site about a year ago, and basically just worked on filling my boxes with Pokemon for a living dex...still haven finished evolving most of Unova and Kalos, so I'm still working on that....but I basically gave up on trying to get the legendaries that require summon items, I'm an absolute fail at summons. With the Egg Dist. going away, I'm basically doomed to never complete my dex.

I might stick around to shiny hunt and work on the Badge achievements, but IDK. There's not a lot holding my attention here.

No shiny for me this month but congrats to those of you who succeeded. Bought one voucher for now until we see what the pokemon is.

Sad the distributions will be ending as it was a nice dose of GPX nostalgia.

Got the new 2DS XL so I gave my OG 3DS to my toddler. She has been learning how to play Pokemon Shuffle and I bought Silver for her. She keeps taking the 2DS for Animal Crossing so I suppose that'll be the next game she gets. Also need to get Ultra Su/Mo for myself. I didn't play SuMo outside of the demo but the ultra versions look fantastic.

Still having internet errors over here. Can't even look at my e-mail, because that page brings up an error message too. Anyways, does anyone have any plans for the holidays? Well, provided they celebrate anything.

Can't seem to find normal old Geodude Eggs anywhere, which is a pain because I need one for this Exploration. Been looking for that and Shieldon for a couple hours now, but I'm sure I'll find them both eventually.

Nope, no one does. You can use it when the staff decide to implement the reward, and there's no set time for that.

EDIT: No one is breeding Shieldon currently. I'm amazed. It's an Exploration Pokemon, and all the others are flying around the Egg Shelter and the Safari Zone. 5 hours, and nothing.

I've been organizing my Pokemon lately and it seems like I've been running low on space too. Maybe I'll have more space once I find all my duplicates and toss em?

Also for Shieldon, it might be easiest to look in the lab for one. Its only uncommon so it usually shows up pretty frequently.

i've been so lucky Late November/Today. Might be that Lady bug hanging in our house.

Started that Totodile hunt on sunday, and hatched him today. Haven't had a hunt this quick since july 2015's SWSH.

Anyone breeding Alolan Rattata? It's my only Shiny Hunt left currently.

I tossed one of my old pairs in daycare because I needed a turtwig for some badge achievement. It looks like Turtwig isn't very common in the shelter either, so I'll keep this pair in for now. I really liked the idea someone had about allowing an additional daycare pair. Maybe set it so your second pair can only breed eggs that aren't in surplus? IDK.

I agree with the whole letting your second Daycare pair only breed Eggs that are uncommon in the Shelter. Fair way to balance things. And yeah, I've literally never seen Turtwig in the Egg Shelter before.

If I remember correctly it was because Alex and Thomas-bred eggs had so many siblings that their heritage pages crashed the site. I was under the impression at that time that the halt in breeding was meant to be temporary while a workaround was created, but since it's been so long since then, I suspect the issue may have been abandoned or forgotten about.

Looks like I got back at just the right time. Really sad to see the Distributions go; that was one of the things I used to love when I first joined. I'm grateful I'm at least here for the last one. I don't recall having to grind in the past, but I'm grinding now because I can't access Arceus and I still need one at some point. I remember working really hard to get "It's Over 9,000!" because that was back when I had my slow laptop and it would take forever for it to register my interactions.


Also, I still don't know why I received the Prize for Bringer of Legends, and I got the Notification that I'd completed it, but when i check my Achievements list, it still lists 12/13 progress.

I'm really sad to see these end. I look forward to seeing what I get (if anything), but hey, life goes on I guess. I just feel like the site is slowly dying out, what with this ending, the wulfenite group almost went a while back.. like it's a bit scary. I love it here and I don't want this crazy ride to end Definitely going to try for Koko or Articuno, since Cobalion didn't appear for me.

Plus, I went to see Thor Ragnarok yesterday, and oh my, AH-MAZING Like, seriously, if you haven't seen it then go see it. Now.

And who's got USUM yet? I haven't, but the people i know who have, have completed it real quick, so that's a bummer for me really. I used to love taking ages with the games! and the Ultra Beasts look really stupid, like they are running out of ideas when there are plenty of fakemons out there which look really cool.

Not sure how I feel about this. Granted that the site is slowly dying for the past two years (kinda funny that the community threads started to go downhill around the time that I gave up on the forums), but I feel like this is pulling one of the last plugs, unless there's something coming to replace it. On one hand this was inevitable. People grow, interest dissipates, real life starts to take over. Besides all of this, I'm sure that the staff has taken money out of their pockets to maintain the server and whatnot. Not counting hours to draw sprites and write explorations.

On the other hand, I feel like there was so much to be done that could pump that much needed life onto this. Social networks/community managers to advertise and gather newcomers (something that could have been done last year when PoGO was released) was one of them. Revamping the trinket market, revamping the Inventory page, revamping the PC page, breeding incentives. Not to talk about some QoL features and the blantely obvious Achievements. Heck, even more variety in Scavenger tasks would help. And it's obvious that none of these suggestions will come to life when there's only one person with a job and a family (aka that has very little spare time) able to code. And I know that giving someone access to that kind of stuff is risky. But at this point, is there really something to lose?

Anyway, this is just me venting. Not at the staff, but at fate. We grew so many good memories in here that it saddens me to see things like this. But there's still time to change it. At least I hope so.

I think the Credits have actually covered server costs. Most of what was spent on the site was time, which involves, as you said, explorations and sprites and stuff.

And yeah, it would be wonderful if all of the things you mentioned could be implemented. However, it really is a matter of time and interest. Not to mention that some of these things aren't as simple as they might seem (specifically Achievements). There are things planned, I can assure that, but an entire overhaul is not in the cards.

I do love the site a lot and have had a fantastic history here, and I don't blame anyone for being upset about its current low-activity status.

Now I vaguely remember that during summer, a few hints were dropped regarding upcoming events so who knows.
To me the site seems near dead and on its last legs but who knows there could be a loooooot going on behind the scenes.
It takes a while to prepare events after all. I mean look at pretty much every other site/game that's still standing.
They all got periods of inactivity but then whoop event after another.

I would like another person to be given the ability to code things onto the site as well, but as you mentioned it's not an easy thing to do. I do hope that one day we may see some more life brought back into the site. I'm absolutely fine with low-activity though, I mean, it would be awesome to have even more but the people who still play, are pretty dedicated to sticking with this game, and that's really nice to see. Low-activity beats site shutdown any day of the week!

I agree with nearly everything in here. I've been as disappointed in the lack of activity as anybody, and I definitely understand the lack of time (I too have a wife and two young children). I'll add that I've also been disappointed with the lack of explanations/communication for some decisions (the decision not to do anything about breeding [for the moment], the lack of communication on the final Zygarde form, the decision to pull the plug on distributions). I think it would make people feel better to know why things they like or think would help the site aren't being implemented or are being taken away. And I'm not asking for a detailed analysis for every single thing that happens on the site, just for major things, or things numerous people have inquired about or asked for.

I want to make clear that I appreciate everyone's time, effort, and work on this site. And if there's something that someone with no coding or spriting skills to do to help, I'm happy to volunteer.

Ok I already posted about the Zygarde Formes in another community thread, I believe it was the November one, so i'm going to shut that part down right now, in the least rude way possible.

Zygarde formes are being worked on. The reason for the delay is my kitchen pipework blew up at the start of the month so I've been dealing with that and a very minimal kitchen (which has only just been fixed). In doing so I've had to greatly increase my hours at work, because rent money went on fixing that shit, so my University deadlines have taken a backseat, and I have 1-2 a week with ~4 left. On top of this, we've also had break-ins within my flat complex within my stairwell (thankfully not my flat) so that's being dealt with too.

They will be done before the end of the year.

I feel like a main issue with trying to attract many people is risking Nintendo's lawyers having a shit fit

you've all seen what they've done to stuff like Pixelmon and Pokemon Uranium, if GPX gets too much traffic there's a good chance they might decide to nuke the site

I mean, granted GPX is not nearly as popular as those two examples I mentioned but with the right advertisement it is entirely possible, but that also risks bringing Nintendo's banhammer down on us

You get your egg regardless of what other egg you get, so you'll be guaranteed a Victini anyway. So you can go for 2 Victini, or 1 Victini and one of the others.

We are sorry for the lack of communication on a lot of things, but the fact of the matter is that in a lot of cases, there's... not much to say other than "we're working on it, but stuff keeps getting in the way." There's plenty of discussion about what to do about different parts of the site (namely the breeding issue); we just have to... find ways to implement it if at all possible.

Neither Cobalion was shiny. Bah. Oh well; hopefully whoever picks my released ones up has a use for them.

I love cold weather and want more of it. Gimme gimme.

On a more light hearted note, what sort of goals do you guys have for 2018? Real life or GPX+ or otherwise?
I pinned a tweet I made regarding things so I could always see it:

2018 goals to myself:
- Remember, people do appreciate you.
- Don't let small things get you down.
- You can do things. Believe!
- Stop pretending things are okay if you smile.
- Open up more, it's good to talk.
- Set small daily goals to end things positive.
- Be happy.

Things are.. difficult at times, so I really need to start focusing on the big things and not let the small things get me down. I have plans to kit out my flat and not make it so bare on the walls, get a mirror and just make everything more homely. I think that's a good place to start to make me a bit happier with a lot of stuff.

Congrats to the Tapu winners! I didn't get one, so I'll be trying for Articuno tomorrow.

My GPX goals for 2018 will be to finally get a few of the last remaining achievements I have left - namely That Everlasting Flame!! (two TBD down, one to go), Social Network (three to go), and Undaunted (three down, two to go).

I'm pretty awful at battling, so I might try to understand the battle system more and get a few of the combs or battle achievements.

Well, since we're all sharing our 2018 goals:

- Finish some of the easier Achievements on GPX+, like the "breed X Pokemon and X Pokemon and hatch one of their Eggs" Achievements

- Finish all my shiny hunts, whether on this website or on a physical game [all the things currently on my Shine Recorder + Korechu and Lure Ball Clamperl]

- Try to finish all the Plates before the end of 2018

- Work up the motivation to draw/write more in those rare moments where I can find the time. I don't do either of those nearly enough and my art style's been stagnating for over 10 years because I have no real clue what I'm doing. I'd say "RP more", but I seem to always be the only one that puts in any significant effort in that department and it takes two to tango.

- Be more open about my feelings. It's not in my nature, so it's going to be hard, but I can't tell you how many bridges I've burned because I always speak of important issues at the wrong time.

- Somehow convince myself that I am capable of being loved, because child abuse really messed me up. Plus, not every gay/bi/pan man is rabid towards men who lack their desired genitalia. I'll say that I'm gray-ace, but there's times when I see couples and feel that primal fear of dying forgotten and alone rise up and threaten to drown me again. To me, everyone is capable of being cared about by somebody, whether it be platonically or romantically...except, of course, myself.

- Get WEP connection back so I can get back to playing Pokemon with WiFi, and continue my yearly holiday shiny/Legendary giveaways.

- I know with 100% certainty that it won't happen by next year, but have a general future goal: Get a chest binder, get on T. Maybe then I'll be happier.

In 2018 I really want to get certain merchandise I've had my eye on for a while now.

On a more "personal" level, I need to learn to ignore people that annoy me and don't deserve my attention.
I should also attempt to make happier memories with the people currently in my life who will most likely die in just a few years.
After watching Jikan no Shihaisha I find it awful that I only have bad memories of people who are supposed to be important to me.
Before they die I need to be able to say something positive at their funeral. So there's that.

On a more positive note I want to watch a few more anime from my ever growing "to watch" list.
There's a lot of stuff I haven't watched yet, 100+ titles, that I really want to get around to.

For starters, I'm not putting anyone's dedication on the line. But the truth is, if there's a lack of time and/or interest, I'm sure that there's a lot of people willing to help. We just need to define a course of action. For example, the forums. What is it about? GPX+ right? There are a lot of sections and sub-sections that could go away, turning everything much tidier. The RPG is completely dead and so is "Pokemon Forums". Merge that whole section and put it in the "Other Games" (changing its name, obviously). IMO, there's no need to have a section that gets 50, 60 posts (throwing that number out there) per year. Things get confusing and shows that people don't have a particular interest in that subject.

Regarding publicity & fearing for Nintendo's hammer... we can't. We just can't. How is this going to survive without any new members? I'm not saying that we need to spam every single pokemon page on twitter/facebook/reddit. But having a community manager that advertises on social network would do wonders, bringing old and new members to the website. Again, what is there to lose? If we keep doing nothing, it's the same as Nintendo shutting us down.



The problem with Achievements is that it's an absurdly fulcral thing to keep members interested. I came back to GPX+ mid January 2015. Achievements were coming in May iirc. It's been almost two years and we got nothing. But we got things like flags, plates, cosplay boxes, mega evo items... In my case, I'm still missing two (one due to RNG, the other due to not having time nor patience to do it), so at the time I still had plenty to go after. But imagine the case of Running on Ice and Venusaur King. They have done basically everything on this website. They're both ranked 1st and 2nd respectively. Aside from some Alola shinies, is there anything to keep them here? I know that the person that writes explorations and makes sprites is not the same person that codes, but I would much rather have no novelty for a whole year but to have a new batch of achievements implemented. We need major features, major changes. An inventory overhaul is necessary as new items keep being introduced. A PC overhaul is necessary as new 'mons keep being introduced and there will be a time where we'll need the PC boxes to be toggled, otherwise it'll get everything clogged.

Again, I understand everything. I truly do. I've been on that side for two years. I know what is like to have people waiting for new things and having very little time to do so and/or not knowing enough/being alone. But at this point, we need more. We need at least one more person to code. It's been one year since SM was released and we're still missing some non-legendary Alola 'mons. This shows how much things were dragged this year.

SilverPT, I agree completely with everything you said. I feel like we need another coder or something, and such a thing has been brought up. However, there is that trust issue with inviting another person to do things on the highest level, and while I do think that we should just take the risk for the sake of the site, it's not up to me.

Regarding 2018 goals, I... dunno what mine would be. Site-wise, it's just finishing more shiny hunts. Outside of the site, it's just being far more productive and getting stuff done for once.

Oh my, I hope that person didn't feel too bad about releasing their Egg. Would suck to know that you accidentally released a shiny, at least if you actually look for the things... And, I like shiny Landorus's colors. Some people think it looks too plain, but it doesn't look bad in my opinion.

Oh no. Well, hopefully they can get another one somehow. And shiny Raikou is nice, I have one in my physical games. Not that I've ever used it after initially capturing it, it's just sat in a box for years because I don't want to trade it, yet I also, well, don't do anything with half of my shinies.

On another note, anyone watched the Gen III drop trailer for POGO? Makes me wish that the game had lived up to what it was originally promised to be. It's still not the best in my opinion, but it's also not the worst. I fully expect to be flooded with Zigzagoon when the update hits.

Maybe you can lower the eggs released in the giveaways to like 5 instead of getting rid of the feature completely? Less eggs to giveaway and stuff, less hassle, its even more rare and maybe reflects the active community a lil more (why giveaway free rare eggs to half the active monthly community when u can lower it to 1-10% of the active community.) Just a suggestion.

@Slutdog, I'm guessing that 5 eggs, 200 eggs, 300 eggs, and 1000 eggs require the same amount of work on the part of the person who runs the event. It's my understanding that passing out eggs is an automated process and I'm guessing you just set the number of eggs to distribute and hit go, and boom: a couple minutes later a bunch of users have a new egg. The only think I could see being done manually is the egg handouts for the people that "won" in the community threads and get their pick in their party as well. So that could be a hassle, but right now I don't think it's more than 1 manual placement per event day.

It's possible I am mis-imagining the how the distribution works, but I find it unlikely that it's ending due to "hassle."

The deal with SM and USUM feels like D/P and Platinum all over again. Originals lack polish, and feel pretty rushed in some places. The third version/s refine the game, and ramps up the difficulty. USUM doesn't screw around with certain Totems and Trainers.
Not even a fresh BW2 run with Challenge mode felt this hard, at times.

I wish the amount of USUM changes were closer to level of Platinum, but oh well.

So far, i'm enjoying Ultra Sun way more than Moon.

I thought that Sun and Moon were pretty bland as well, but, the introduction of Totem Pokemon was at least interesting. Still, though, it's telling when the person who finishes every game they usually play can't even bring themselves to finish these ones.

Definitely going to trade over some Pokemon when I get WiFi back and just beat the game with a pre-done team. I can't stand the low base speed of all the native Alolan 'mon, and I honestly just want to try out Wormhole shiny hunting.

I'm aware that it's not up to you but I'm sure that you're all reasonable people and know that this is the only valid option that we have, either in a short or a long run. And when I said that we need a coder, I'm not even referring to someone who would code major stuff. That can still be Nick's territory. But I'm sure that a new person that would work on QoL and other small features (like adding novelties, items, etc) would take off a huge load of work of Nick's back and give him time to work on the really important stuff. We truly need another coder, either in the form of someone "unknown" or someone from the team that as learned how to code.

In regards to shiny legendaries, over my 8 years here I've amassed uhhhh.. *checks* 14 different legendary entries. Granted a couple of them have different formes, such as Shaymin and Landorus and Kyurem, but still pretty nifty Other notable things are a Shiny Zombidofo and Shiny Misquaza also.

Shaymin, Heatran, Dialga, Palkia, Kyurem, Zygarde, Landorus, Giratina and Ho-oh.

Ho-oh and Shaymin were self summons
Shaymin is part of the exchange so I got Heatran, then Dialga and then Palkia from the most recent one.
Giratina was a random grab from someone's missed summon (ouch)
Zygarde was from winning the Dress-Up Contest from 2015
Kyurem was from a Sh. Legend Plus from the Hanukkah event last year
Landorus was from the giveaway
Misquaza and Zombidofo were from the shelter - accidental Misquaza release from the Mobile Walker and Dofo was a random grab + corrupt.

Still waiting for a shiny from an exploration (I got one from the Safari Zone, a Spiky Pichu, but that doesn't count) - even my own shiny Unown was from a voucher.. I guess I better get my butt into gear and start doing more explorations that aren't just monthly!

Now all I need is my Shiny Raikou to call Diego and then I'll be somewhat happy lol

Only shiny Legend I've gotten is Heatran, have done better on the Novelties with Bidofo, Dracowysmy, two Flaming Zorua, Fossil Crandios and a Jumpkarp tho. Aside from the first Zorua those were all in 30 eggs or less to boot.

I got a shiny Shaymin from an event Egg that someone released. Weirdly, I had a feeling that day that one of the Shaymin Eggs in my Party would hatch shiny. But my dumb self forgot to start a hunt. I don't really count as something that I got from an event because I didn't obtain the Egg myself, but it's still sitting in my PC.

Also, gen III is out in POGO and apparently someone caught a shiny Absol in a raid. So jealous, I still haven't found a shiny in that app yet...

I've been looking in and around my area for the past while looking for Gen III Pokemon, as well. So far I haven't found much of anything, but I did find a max CP wild Linoone, which was a nice surprise. Also a good IV Miltank, but those already spawn here semi-rarely. And a few Torchic, but not enough to evolve one to Combusken.

Saw a Sableye raid last night, but didn't participate because there was only 3 minutes left until it ended. You guys catch anything cool so far? Also, wow, Skitty has a high flee rate.

To go with the earlier conversation of whether one has a Shiny Legendary or Novelty, I have the Undaunted achievement which I unlocked January 31, 2015.

I think I played pretty consistently after I joined in January 2010.

So I must have had some pretty slow hunts to get those five Shiny Novelties.

Right now I'm looking for Shiny Allotrope.

The Pokéwalker is the way to do it. You can gain 25 levels in a few minutes if you use that, especially with the Bicycle upgrade.

I know we were talking about shiny legends and stuff a few pages ago. I have a shiny Yveltal that was given to me, and I used to have a shiny Dialga. I also used to have quite a few shiny novelties, but my rarest are probably Misquaza and Shadow Lugia.

We got snow here in Houston a few days ago. That... was so awesome. It's so rare here, so that was a nice treat. Wish it'd happen again...

The easiest way is to shove the Pokemon in your Pokewalker and interact with other Pokemon. You gain 1-2 levels for every 100 interactions. I'm still not absolutely sure about the level formula, but the Pokewalker is your best bet. Really, you should be able to grind a Pokemon to level 25 in like ten minutes.

edit; My Dedenne still needs Pechas if anyone wants to help out. I'm hoping to finish this exploration this weekend.

Thanks~ It works for all Pokemon equally, iirc. You can just spam your 1-5 keys to warm eggs and feed Pokemon berries. I don't worry about feeding the right berry unless its for an exploration Pokemon.

It works on any interaction, but exploration Pokemon only need the right berries.

Chesto Berry - For Pokémon who like Dry Food.
Rawst Berry - For Pokémon who like Bitter Food.
Aspear Berry - For Pokémon who like Sour Food.
Cheri Berry - For Pokémon who like Spicy Food.
Pecha Berry - For Pokémon who like Sweet Food.

You can level them up fast if you spam the space bar or random 1-5. So you could switch inbetween exploration and all.

Switched out the Lapras in my pairing for a Feebas, just for that total gen-3 sweep. Since there's a considerable dearth of applicable eggs in the Shelter right now.

I'm considering myself really lucky that I got all the Wingull for DITL before this event started.

As for the exchange - I have a nasty feeling that the Shiny Novelty category this year is going to be flooded with Zygarde Cells, so I'm preemptively avoiding it. I think I'll just put in a shiny rare.

Probably not, since corruptible and/or legendary novelties aren't their own category and they've been around for a while.

Yeah, you need to make sure to check the dex for color. It seems like a lot of the colors are just random.

The Pokedex has all sorts of weird coloring classifications. Unless I'm mistaken, Pansage was marked as gray in B/W. Not sure how a green and yellow monkey is even remotely gray, but alright..

I ended up using Meowth but also thought to use Abra until I learned it was brown. :| That is one of the yellowest Pokémon out there.

I've had a bit of a rough couple of weeks. There are several issues I'm dealing with that just won't... resolve, and I can't do anything about some of them. All I can do is wait. It's... not fun. Hopefully, things will get better.

Crystal version is coming to Virtual Console at end of January. Japan is said to get a hard coded GS ball event with being able to catch Celebi.
It's currently unknown what it could mean for NA/EU releases.

Getting an average of 10 Coins a day, which is nice. Wish I didn't decide to try out the Dreidel that one day, though. Boredom is not always a good thing.

I really only listen to anime openings/endings and VOCALOID stuff so unless you're into that I don't think I can give you any good recommendations.

I'm not gaining that many coins, kind of overestimated how much time I'd have this month...

Hello there, I haven't post in a while.
I'm glad to see the Christmas and Hannukah events again this year, been trying to hatch the more gen 3 eggs I can while at the same time SRing for a shiny Pheromosa in my Ultra Moon game. I can finally call myself a shiny hunter, in the last 2 weeks or so I gathered almost a box of shinies in the game without much effort, including 3 UBs.
Dreidel is not being too mean to me like the last time so I'm not always losing my coins. I've been winning smth like 60/80 coins a day.

On the trinkets matter, I'm just missing 14 I'm just sooo close. Also, does someone has a spare R1 Malachite exclusive Ribbon Bell they could possible trade?? Please PM me if you do, thanks <3

From the few times I spinned the Dreidel; no. You're definitely not the only one. I'd advise not even bothering to spin it, there's only a 1/4 change you'll get more Coins anyways and the RNG seems to favor Nun.

I only did the the Dreidel twice, and I'm just not gonna bother now. I'm not aiming to be at the top, I just want to get enough coins so I can get the Dreidel evolution item. The help page says it was given out to those who got over 250 coins in the event last year, and I should blast past that before the end of the week. Hoping I get it so I don't have to spend 75 prize points on it

Hey, everyone! I'm back, for now at least.

This year has been my worst luck with the Dreidel event. It took me 11 spins to get gimel, and 9 of those were nun. Think I'll just not play that for the rest of the event.

I also just went through all of my trinkets and sent out 53 sky gifts, so hopefully there's some good stuff in those!

As for the Gen 3 event, I got a random shiny Azurill at one point. That was pretty neat.

I finished the "The Twelve Days of Christmas" exploration pretty easily thanks to shelter grabs. I have two more unique explorations to go for the achievement. I think its the Xerneas and Yveltal ones that I still need. I might start another exploration today since I have the multiplier to motivate me.

Hey All.

Yeah, it's me, stopping by again. I got the wonderful portal by total surprise today so... yay! It makes up for the fact that my Dreidel is FAULTY. It has ONLY ever given me NUN or HEI. So it either takes half or all. With one exception. Where it landed "neutrally". But, of course, when I spun again, it took half the coin. I knew I hated that game.

In other news, when life allows, I am enjoying hatching the Gen 3 Pokemon. But man! My knowledge is so bad of the whos-who in the Pokemon families. LOL But at least I'm breeding one and finding enough eggs of the ones I've come to know so... I'm maintaining. If I stay away from the FAULTY dreidel I'll be even better! LOL

I'm finally closing in on moving on in my current "will it be a year long explore" exploration. LOL I'm enjoying the slow snails pace though so I'm not complaining. Just sorry that things are weirdly busy for me that I can't participate more. Today might be my first scavenger hunt win - so long as I don't forget about it. *smirk*

Yeah DotW is heavy on the interactions but at least you don't have to deal with as many feeding tasks. My first/longest try took over two months, but my most recent one only took eleven days. I can't imagine I'll beat that record any time soon but 11 days isn't too bad IMO.

I'm planning on dropping a few boxes of legendary/evolved Pokemon around Christmas so I can get rid of my extras. While I'm not going to be breaking any old records, I have never been in the top three before so that's a personal accomplishment, even if I get knocked out of that rank later on.

Ironically not too well on shiny count though despite hatching so many. Only up to three - which is by no means a poor number but, not impressive either compared to other years. Then again, still a lot of days for the event, so I'll see how things go.

In other news, been playing KHUX which has been taking away 99% of my attention lately, got a beautiful Roxas medal and am kicking total butt in the game. Not sure if anyone else plays around here or is into Kingdom Hearts but, it is a lot of fun.

I haven't posted here in a while, work and real life has been extremely busy.

Well today is my birthday . I'm not really expecting much for my birthday this year, not that I've been expecting anything. I do know that work is going to get me a cake, so at least I'll have that to look forward to.

I haven't really been hatching a whole lot of eggs for the event, I've just been too busy with everything else. I get the Scavenger Hunt tasks done so I at least get 20 coins a day. I'm not overly bothered on the prizes this year, I know I had a slim chance for a Shiny Legendary Voucher due to being so busy.

I also think the Dreidel is rigged, I haven't gotten a Gimel at ALL. I've gotten more Nun than I can count, which is the norm from what I've read here.

I played the Dreidel for one day a few days back... I shouldn't have. Not going to do that again. I started my second run-through of That Burning Desire... hopefully I can get close to done by early January. Loving the number of people breeding Shroomish, Spinda, and Whismur though!

I wonder if the header Events have some kind of scaled rarity, ex. Prankster or Tiny Egg will always be more common than Chests of any kind. And I wish you good luck on getting to 100 Explorations, Sportsfan666.

Anyways, apparently a cartoon I watched as a kid [and, shamefully, depending on opinion, I still love it] is getting a reboot. Theyre de-age ing the entire cast and making this reboot into a prequel season to apparently "appeal to a younger audience" which I find weird because the series was already for children to begin with. Never mind the fact that it destroys years of already-established canon..I'm a little salty.

You can get 20 coins a day by just doing scavenger tasks during the time period
also hatch 3ks or 5ks, those are the most doable

I'm gaining shamefully little due to my busy schedule the past week.
Idk how it even got to this

If I'm getting more than 1 scratchcard this year then that's a lot.
It's a lot harder now sprites don't count.

Finished one special exploration for the month, and I actually had to look up what the Tapus looked like because I still haven't played completely through Sun and Moon. Oops.

After waiting ages for the Shady Salesman to turn into something else, I got a little red chest with a Red Orb the other day. Today, I got a Rainbow Wing from a different chest. I don't think I've ever had two headers so close together.

And I'm sitting at 370ish coins at the moment, so I think I'm doing decently at this event! Just need to keep it up when I actually have a chance to be active.

I'm not sure about the Tapus either. I know I have 3/4 of them. My Tapu cooldown is going to be over on Dec 31 a few hours before reset so I'm hoping I can start the exploration for the second time this month. I haven't read anything about not being able to start an exploration twice in one month.

'Grats on the wormhole. The Mobile site gives a TON of items whenever I use it. Maybe its to compensate for the lack of headers?

I'm trying to do Scavenger tasks where I can, but sometimes they're a little too difficult for me to do within the time frame haha. Though, it's my own fault. And I've been trying to hatch as many 5K Eggs as I can, at the very least.

And I forgot that sprites counted in the previous years..that really helped, you could just use Sprite Power and rack up a ton of Points that way.

I think the users with the most coins are hatching low maturity Hoenn eggs almost exclusively. I feel like I've hatched a lot of Hoenn eggs and I've completed every task but I'm still ranked 50th in total coins. Maybe other people are just luckier gamblers.

I've been only occasionally playing the dreidel just as in previous years; while I'd get gimel a few times in a row, my efforts would be canceled out by a nun or hei. :/ So... I just complete Scavenger tasks and get coins that way. Haven't really been hatching Gen 3 stuff, but I don't particularly care how many coins I get in the end. I'm super casual about all this. :P

Speaking of header events, I got a wormhole recently and hatched a shiny Cosmog! That... was cool. I did want a shiny Lunala, so here we go.

You can only do the same exploration once per month. I wish you could do the same one twice, though (been shiny hunting Articuno for YEARS).

I've had mixed luck on dreidel. I think I've about broken even with coins lost and won, though I haven't had too much time to scavenger hunt hatch eggs.

Eh, while I do stick those pokemon in the UG, I hatch way too many shiny fails to let each and every one down there. I can get 3 underground visits in a day, tops... and I can hatch hundreds. It doesn't out.

I feel like as long as your UG is always occupied by a pokemon that hasn't already been down there, nothing's being wasted.

Successfully completed the mad dash to Master Commuter and grabbed the Prison Bottle and Rotom Dex ten minutes til midnight

Subway is a way more of a mixed bag than I remember. In 1040 battles the best streak I hit was 228 and all of them were ended by ridiculous crit chains.

re:Underground - I'll usually have a box of stuff for that purpose but otherwise stuff gets released once it's in the way.

I mostly just send lv 100s to the underground.
During scavenger tasks I rack up quite a few of those although sometimes I run out.
Plus the underground can go faster than you're able to fill it up if you're a very active user.

Speaking of which. I've been looking at the coin totals.
I wanted to see where I ranked compared to others, found out that I've been doing much better than I thought.

Oh, haha, jeez. I can forget right about that. The numbers do vary each year. I remember one year being around 1000-1500, but that year's event was only seven days long.

I'm admittedly not really that interested in a legend voucher. I have all but most of the Arceii and I get the impression most of the upcoming Ultra Beasts are going to be shiny race prizes.

The 3900 was because of the added bonus of sprites if my memory serves. I think usually top prize is for the top 15 spots. That's why the cutoff was 3900 and not something clean like 4000. In the past it's been top 20, top 15, or top 10. So who knows. Hopefully as many people as possible get the top prize for their hard work!

I would be more than happy with a sh. voucher, you know, for any shiny pokemon other than legendary. But I'm in #23 at the moment...Idk.
Also, I wonder when will the deposits for Secret Santa open. Not close to reset I hope, that happens to be at 4:59 am here lol

Woohoo, got a shiny voucher from the event! Clocked out with 1296 coins - would have had more if not for the Dreidel being its charming self. I'm thinking I'll use it to get one of the corruptibles - pudgy pidgey, ekralyp, or pinkan rhyhorn.

And scratchcard time is always a good time. Seems like shiny pokechests are on there now? And I just got a lunar wing - summoning items are always wonderful.

I got a little bit over 1800 coins in the event ranked #8 overall, which I am very happy with! I won the Shiny Legend Voucher Plus which was able to give me my third Shiny Legend on the site. I used it for a Shiny Mew, I have Keldeo (Which was my first shiny legend), and I got my Shiny Cresselia recently.

From my Scratch Cards I got some pretty great items:



Out of the items I got the best item was Sun Flute, which I needed. I also needed the Shears, so that's cool.

Now on to my Splash Chikorita hunt and all the other hunts in my Shine Recorder. Farewell Hoenn.

Clocked in at 641 coins (#68th overall), since I didn't bet a ton on the dreidel (and also lost a couple of hatching days during a trip to New York City), but I had a ton of fun with my first Hanukkah event! Hatched a couple of shinies and got some useful items from the scratch cards so I'm happy!

I wasn't as active this year due to being super busy, but, managed to get two scratch cards at least. I managed to get a slowpoke tail out of one of them and some shears which was pretty nice! I have an extra shiny popplio which I plan to use for the exchange hopefully for something new.

Korechu in, does anyone know what type of Novelty I could get in exchange? It's non-breedable, but it's only available through the header. Does that matter?

You get a novelty back. It just checks rarity not how it was obtained. So you could get a Magikarp novelty, a Crystal Onix or idk a Fossil Pokémon

I managed just over 400 coins this year. Way too much overtime at work. Was too tired to push for more coins last night since so far I have to work a full ten hour day today. They shut down early for thanksgiving and I really don't see how today is any different.

We made gingerbread cookies this year. Azriel wants to make more for his grandparents when they come out so we will be making more sometime this week. Can't wait for tomorrow morning. My little guy will be so excited and he won't have to keep my present a secret from me anymore. He's been trying to tell me since they got it.

So sorry to hear about your kitty Letan. I hope the rest of your holidays are happier.

I put one of those in last year and I got a Shiny Slime Slugma, for what that's worth.

I spun the dreidel last night to get above 200 coins (and it worked!) because I was pretty sure that's where the cut-off would be. So now I have another Legend Voucher to use, I must figure out what on.
I only got 3 Scratch Cards for my work, but those gave me three Shiny Pokéchests, a Stardust and a Corruption Orb, which is not bad at all.
I'm going to enter a spare Meloetta I have into the exchange, hopefully I'll get some exploration legend I don't have yet. Then I may use my vouchers. Hope everyone is having a happy holiday!

Disappointed that the 12 days of christmas gives out Sweet Hearts. Dont know what i was expecting really.

I have a few more boxes of Pokes I'm going to be dropping throughout the day. No shinies, but there are evolved Pokes and some legendaries, both summonable and not. I needed to clear some PC space and I figured now would be a good time to toss em.

I'd be very wary of putting in shiny novelties, because I expect it to be flooded with Zygarde cells. But it's your choice. (Also, I don't understand why Phione is banned? I mean... it's just a rare?)

I put in a shiny Lapras. Nothing special, but hopefully somebody out there needs it.

I was lucky with the scratchcards - both a sun flute and a moon flute, a Lunar Wing, and pinkan berries. Lost count of all the shears and dreidels. I would have liked a twinkie or a corruption orb, but I can't complain at all. Also got two shiny pokechests, which were a great touch.

Its banned because Manaphy (legendary) can breed to produce Phione (rare) and that messes with the algorithm, iirc. I got a Phione from last(?) years exchange though.

There should be a dropdown option for each individual Pokemon. You might have to refresh the page for it to appear, though. I'd illustrate with pictures, but unfortunately I've already put in my Pokemon for this year's exchange.

On another note, hope that everyone had or is going to have a nice holiday meal. The only thing I had to eat today was several day-old leftovers because my father is notoriously antisocial and has refused to even let my mother and I go out to buy groceries for about a week now. No food in the house but cake mix. :/
