Click for the Pokédex page @ Serebii.net. Type: Bug/Flying Abilities: Speed Boost: Increases Yanmega's Speed by One Level each turn Colour Glasses: After using an ineffective attack, the power of that attack increases Weaknesses: Fire x2, Electric x2, Ice x2, Flying x2, Rock x4, Resistances: Grass x0.25, Fighting x0.25, Bug x0.5 Immunitites: Ground Stats: 86 HP, 76 Atk, 86 Def, 95 Spd, 116 SA, 56 SD Tier: Overused/Borderline? >> Moveset 1: Special Sweeper Yanmega @ Choice Specs/Life Orb/Focus Sash Nature: Modest Trait: Speed Boost, although Colour Glasses can be useful too. EVs: 252 SA, 252 Spd, 6 HP - Psychic/Shadow Ball/Giga Drain - Bug Buzz - Air Slash - Detect/Protect/Psychic/Shadow Ball/Giga Drain Pretty simple, just sweep. Detect is there in non-choice sets so you can get in a free speed boost if needed. Choose whichever of the moves you need depending on what your team needs; Bug Buzz/Air Slash are STAB. Moveset 2: Annoyer Yanmega @ Leftovers/Wide Lens Trait: Speed Boost Nature: Not so sure here. EVs: - Hypnosis - Substitute - Detect/Protect - Bug Buzz/Air Slash/etc. I battled one of these on PBR's Wifi once, and I was ill-prepared to deal with it and got 3-0'd to this Yanmega and only this Yanmega. Detect for speed boost as needed, and then hypnosis, substitute and attack. The one I fought had Leftovers, although Wide Lens could help for raising Hypnosis' accuracy. Moveset 3: Solarbeamer Yanmega @ Energy Herb Trait: Speed Boost/Colour Glasses Nature: Modest EVs: 252 SA, 252 Spd, 6 HP - Solarbeam - Bug Buzz/Air Slash/Psychic/Detect/etc. - Bug Buzz/Air Slash/Psychic/Detect/etc. - Bug Buzz/Air Slash/Psychic/Detect/etc. Basically, the point of this is catch them off guard and blast them with Solarbeam. Works better with STAB I suppose, but a one turn solarbeam without sunny day's always unexpected and can be fun. =) Moveset 4: Dreameater Yanmega @ Life Orb/Focus Sash/Wide Lens Trait: Speed Boost/Colour Glasses Nature: Modest EVs: 252 SA, 252 Spd, 6 HP - Hypnosis - Dream Eater - Bug Buzz - Air Slash/Detect/etc. It can learn Hypnosis and Dream Eater, so why not take advantage of it, right? XD Works just like a special sweeper obviously, just with the added punch of sleep + recovery. Wide Lens if you're worried about Hypnosis' accuracy, Life Orb for power, and Focus Sash so you can survive a OHKO, sleep, heal. Movest 5: Physical Sweeper Yanmega @ Choice Band/Life Orb Trait: Speed Boost/Colour Glasses Nature: Adamant EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 HP - Steel Wing/Aerial Ace/U-turn/Pursuit/Feint Attack/Reversal/Detect/Protect - Steel Wing/Aerial Ace/U-turn/Pursuit/Feint Attack/Reversal/Detect/Protect - Steel Wing/Aerial Ace/U-turn/Pursuit/Feint Attack/Reversal/Detect/Protect - Steel Wing/Aerial Ace/U-turn/Pursuit/Feint Attack/Reversal/Detect/Protect I just listed off a bunch of physical attacks it can learn. I wouldn't recommend it, but it's base isn't completely horrendous and with CB it improves, obviously. You could also try something like endure + reversal + attack raising berry here, although I'm sure there's half a million pokes that can do this better. Other Options: Yanmega doesn't have much in the way of available attacks, and I find that its biggest weakness is steel types. HP Fire/Ground/Fighting can help remedy that. It can do Ancient Power for dealing with flying/ice/fire, three of its weaknesses and if you're lucky sexy stat boosts. Signal Beam over Bug Buzz if you're lucky with the confusion, although I wouldn't recommend it. Silver Wind if, again, you're lucky with the stat boosts. As I said, its movepool isn't the greatest, so it's pretty much confined to the sets I listed above. Counters: Yanmega has, unfortunately, a plethora of weaknesses. Once it gets in most cases one speed boost, or two, it's pretty much guaranteed first strike, so your best bet is something that can take a hit and then take it down. If you know your opponent has one, Stealth Rock is nice cause it takes out half their HP right off the bat. Opinion: I <3 Yanmega. It has to be the most annoying and durable of my pokes, simply because it always goes first and just never dies. To me it's the type of poke that at first glance doesn't look too stellar, but in practice, it really is. It's stellar in taking down psychics/darks, and with its invincible speed and good special attack. If only it could learn Energy Ball... oh well. It has an amazing ability, Speed Boost, and a useful second one too, Colour Glasses, which helps it out since its movepool doesn't cover some types. Its biggest downfall is its typing, really, but that can't really be helped. -------------------- |

I'm not quite sure if it has much of a moveset outside the Choice Specs user, but then again I've only seen/cared about its ability to do so with Modest nature/Speed Boost/decent special movepool. I could be wrong though; enlighten me.
I was about to suggest an annoer set - preferably with U-Turn - for Yanmega but 76 base attack :s -------------------- |

With it's high speed, it can be a good annoyer by utilizing the Protect/Detect combo, which can help a lot in 2v2 battles.

Protect/Detect have the same counter. Detect still has 50% chance of activating right after using Protect.

I've had lots of fun with it in double battles... it detects for speed boost/protection, and then Choice Scarf'd Metegross uses Explosion to wipe out the two nubby ubers that my opponent has. :333
I probably won't get this done till next week cause I'm pretty busy right now. <__< -------------------- |

QUOTE I've had lots of fun with it in double battles... it detects for speed boost/protection, and then Choice Scarf'd Metegross uses Explosion to wipe out the two nubby ubers that my opponent has. :333 Choice Band Metagross still does better. The fact that - despite it going last - it has durability warrants more use of Choice Band, and you get more damage off it. It (Metagross) could possibly be used later on, but if you manage to get a CB Explosion out at the beginning of a fight... well, gg.

Maybe I'll text it out when I can get my DS working again. -------------------- I claim Ambipom!! :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD <img src="http://bird.biofever.com/images/sig/sig.php" alt=""/> My Blog | My Animu List ATTN: All members of the SHnY club, please update your sigs! No real need to write 6 HP EVs instead of 4, but...other than that, it's fine.
#1 looks pretty similar to mine... -------------------- |

Hypnosis / Protect / Shadow Ball / Air Slash
@ life orb/leftovers, modest needs a main mention for being probably the best lead about as well as beating common restalkers like dusk and cress or just scouting for what the foe's special wall is. U-Turn / Screech / Protect / Reversal @ Focus Sash + Speed Boost as a lead too. The fact that SpecsYanmega is never OHKO'd by Cress' un-boosted Ice Beam (and perhaps a boosted one) and the fact it can OHKO back with bug buzz might deserve a mention, and the counters section needs to be much more in-depth. |

QUOTE Movest 5: Physical Sweeper Life Orb/CB with Reversal?Yanmega @ Choice Band/Life Orb Trait: Speed Boost/Colour Glasses Nature: Adamant EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 HP - Steel Wing/Aerial Ace/U-turn/Pursuit/Feint Attack/Reversal/Detect/Protect - Steel Wing/Aerial Ace/U-turn/Pursuit/Feint Attack/Reversal/Detect/Protect - Steel Wing/Aerial Ace/U-turn/Pursuit/Feint Attack/Reversal/Detect/Protect - Steel Wing/Aerial Ace/U-turn/Pursuit/Feint Attack/Reversal/Detect/Protect IMO, you should try Reversal as a separate set; something like Endure/Reversal/Swords Dance/Faint Attack@Liechi Berry. If it can't learn Swords Dance, try something else over it, like Pursuit with Aerial Ace or Steel Wing over Faint Attack. -------------------- |

IIRC it doesn't get Swords Dance... I was gonna put in a BP moveset, but I think it can only do agility, which is useless anyhow.
But that moveset was just a bunch of physical attacks it can learn lumped together, I didn't really have much seriousness to it. >_> EDIT: "I just listed off a bunch of physical attacks it can learn. I wouldn't recommend it, but it's base isn't completely horrendous and with CB it improves, obviously. You could also try something like endure + reversal + attack raising berry here, although I'm sure there's half a million pokes that can do this better." And I did write that. -------------------- |

With increased Sandstorm, the only thing that can actually do Endrevving now are Scizor and Lucario. Lucario's the only one of the two with Speed to pull it off so... yeah. Sorry for missing that portion though.
No, it doesn't learn Swords Dance. 'Tis a shame, but it can learn Whirlwind. I reckon something like Roost/Whirlwind/U-Turn or Bug Buzz/Aerial Ace or Air Slash can work as a set... :S -------------------- |

There is no point in detect, protect gets double the PP for the exact same effect.

That CB set is a joke, novelty set. It's severely outclassed and shouldn't be mentioned at all IMO.
However, the Reversaler set is a nice suprise that can work, OHKO a lot, including Tar, and really shoudn't be overlooked. Yanmega @ Leichi Adamant 252 Ak/ 252 Speed/ 6 HP Hypnosis/ Protect Reversal Endure Night Slash/ X-Scissor/ Aerial Ace Night Slash for coverage, other moves for STAB. Or 4J's (boxchan's) set. Also, a special move should be listed (at least) as an option over Detect/Protect on the 'Annoyer' set. And, a good HP (like Ice or Electric) should be mentioned on that set to counter team threats. -------------------- |

Wow, no one's posted here in a while...am I still allowed to? :<
This was a big help in making my Yanmega, Mčga-Mčga. First off, I didn't have any idea what to have his nature be or a hold item for that matter. This was the moveset I had for him too, Bug Buzz, AncientPower, SteelWing, Flash/Double Team. Bug Buzz was for STAB, AncientPower and Steel Wing were to cover his weaknesses and Flash/Double Team was to boost evasiveness while Speed Boost took care of his speed. I've decided to give Mčga-Mčga the Dreameater moveset ^-^ -------------------- |
