There are typical reasons for doing both. The quick get to the goodies faster, and keep up at a good pace. The slower players give themselves more time to do what they enjoy the game itslef.
At what pace do you finish a pokemon game? (Beating the champion) -------------------- |

I don't think I ever rushed through a pokemon game...
I usually take my sweet time with them, doing everything slowly in order to enjoy doing everything longer. I think my longest completion up to date (if by completion you mean beating the E4) was in Pearl with 113 hours of gameplay before I got to Cynthia... -------------------- |

I just go at a steady pace. No need to rush things Besides, I like to take time off the main story line and go breed myself a shiny, and partake in contests

What Samoo said. Taking time to do other things is how I roll.

When training low level Pokemon to do good in Gyms, I take forever. On other parts I rush through because I'm too excited to see what's next. XD

Even though I don't rush it, I always end up completing the main story in a week or so. The games are just that fun and I can't really bring myself to put it down for any extended amount of time until the story is over. Also, I end up catching all the Pokemon I need to beat the E4 within the first two or three towns/routes. If the games spread out the locations of really helpful ones, it would take me longer. The situation isn't helped by the fact that all of the random trainers use the same Pokemon, or at least the same types, so if you've swept two or three trainers with specific Pokemon, prepare to sweep them all.

I think for me it depends on if I've played it before like in my platinum 2nd playthrough i beat in about 24 hours, but most likely in B&W I will be taking my sweet time.

Eh... I'd say it's more of on the slow side. I really enjoyed building forts in sapphire/ruby when I played it and yeah xD long time is long time.
Unless I had just bought the game and was going on a roadtrip or something, then I'd probably end up beating it within the day-or less. -------------------- [align=center]The help page has loads of useful information!

I really enjoyed building forts in sapphire/ruby when I played it and yeah xD . I missed these when Diamond and Pearl came out. ;~; First time, I do it slowly to find items, look for EV-training hotspots, note where my favorite pokémon are located, and enjoy the game overall. The second time, I rush through it, though I jumble up my teams to use under-appreciated pokémon. |

in the middle, i suppose, but only if i've played it before. I have beaten a game in around 40 hours, which was my HG game.
when i get white, i'll probably take my time and enjoy it. when that happens, i beat in in about 70-80 hours. -------------------- |
