Global PokédeX Plus Forums _ Pokémon Polls _ Your Opinions on Lavender Town

Posted by: Ryethesuicune50 Jun 16 2012, 04:47 PM

So what are your opinions on this creepy town's music throughout the generations of Pokemon?

The town of many innocent deaths...
The town of frightening legends and myths...
The town of sad little Cubone...

I'm a bit scared of some things associated with Lavender Town.
Anyhow, I was sooo introgued by this weird disturbing stuff that I had a research frenzy.
Now I know a lot about Creepypasta, Lavender Town, Missingno., and Cubone/the Marowak ghost.
Don't be afraid to pm me if you have any questions.

I read a lot, and I won't get annoyed if you type a long story about your opinion on Lavender Town.
Don't be nervous about telling your opinion!
I'll read everything! coffee.gif

I promise, nothing is too long!
I hope...

I find it a very dark and morbid place. There have been many theories about the town, and quite frankly, it's a very uncomfortable place to be in. The idea of death scares me a lot, and maybe the fact Green was there because apparently his Raticate died made me a bit... wary.

I sort of agree with you there.

It's a very scary and mysterious place to be in...
The idea of ghosts scare but at the same time fascinate me a lot... it's a very mysterious place...

I made lyrics for Lavender town.
i used two versions of Lavender Town music for this. (actually three..)
So that's three versions I used.

Here they are:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l992koprMWs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzW9Xf08GaI

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbpdKoYpXs4

Here are the lyrics:

Mother, mother, why did this happen
Mother, mother, I feel so alone now
Mother, mother, please don't leave me
Mother, mother, I don't want to be alone

Why did you
Leave me all alone here

I know you didn't mean for you to go so soon
I know it wasn't your fault though
That nasty Team Rocket needs to go

it wasn't the right time you know
I hope that someday I'll teach Team Rocket a lesson...

Mother, where oh where did you go...
I.. I.. I.. Miss you so...

Like it?

i think it's little Cubone's prayer when he looks at the moon at night and thinks of his mother..

Y'know... I've read the stories about this little song on some different websites, scared me for a few days, but I'm kinda over it. I love the games it's in, and it's a nice tune to me. :P But I do have an old Japanese version of Pokemon Green in a box soooooo I have no idea what to do with it XD

But yeah I think it's a cool tune.
Cool poll btw

I'm in love with Gen 1 Lavender town. I'm a huge horror nut, and I especially like horrors based on innocent things, like Pokémon, so Lavender Town really facinates me. All the Creepypasta and Lore around it make it just that bit more exciting for me!

I was actually really disappointed that they made it happier in Gen 2.

I'm kinda like that too. But when I read something like kids commiting suicide and stuff cuz of a game song it kiiiiinda sticks in my brain for a while.

(Haha "horror nut"? XD)

Ahh see, I want to say I 'enjoy' reading stuff like that, but it's not quite the right word. I'm not saying I enjoy reading about kids commiting suicide, but just the whole thing about it being caused by the game facinates me. I'm one of those people that reads about horrible urban legends all the time.

Speaking of creepy Pokémon stuff, has anyone heard this?

Oh yes!

I heard Hypno's Lullaby!
The first time I heard it, I had my sound turned too loud and the rough scratchy voice came as a surprise and scared me.
Next time I listened to it with lower sound and I thought it was amazing and scary.

Posted by: quomimi Jun 18 2012, 05:12 PM

I've seen Hypno's Lullaby. I don't know if it's real or not, but my volume was up pretty loud when I heard it so I kinda freaked XD

I'm making a lavender town themed sprite shop right now..

Posted by: GreyGreen Little Cubone Aug 15 2012, 11:00 AM

Yay! Half-dead topic!
So anyway, Im gonna teach myself piano stuff and make a lavender town piano remix.

So anyway, (repeating that again XD) I find lavender town hgss style like an antidote to creepypasta and stuff...

Lemme go find remix..

For all of them I put I didn't care, except for the las one where I put it was beautiful. I like the newest version WAAAY better than the old one, the old one sounds like a failed music box. :/

Now, I really just don't want to mess with the thing. I like to skip Lavender Town since it has no real meaning other than it's a town through a route. cat.gif

I listened to the original with my headphones and actually noticed my headphones shaking (nothing else has ever caused this). I did end up with a small headache but nothing more. I like the town a lot because of its eeriness and the fact I can catch my third favorite type within the tower.

Posted by: Lord Raven Aug 17 2012, 04:28 AM

I thought the music was creepy, then I went into the tower and fought the ghost. Tried using Mega Punch on it, but Blastoise was too afraid to attack. Eventually I thought my game was bugged and shut it off and I hadn't played it for another month afterwards.

I like the music (Yellow One). The Lavender Town is not scary, the creepypastas are making me laugh. It's just a city with bad history. :p

I'm not as crazy about Lavender Town as I used to be.
Too busy swimming and playing Pokemon Crystal.

Posted by: phobia Sep 6 2012, 06:12 PM

It's one of my most favorite stories in the whole game.
I've read many creepypastas and listened to many remixes on YouTube.
It's quite addicting.

When I first entered Lavender Town, back in the old R/B/Y days, I rarely had the volume on. The noise annoyed my siblings and often distracted me. However, I liked to occasionally take a quick peek at the music. So eventually I turned up the volume... and found myself entranced and horrified by the mysterious music. I kept it on as I climbed the graveyard tower, until I faced the ghost.

At first, I was angry at my Charizard; why was the level 36 beast scared of a little ghost? I listened further and found myself increasingly scared of Lavender Town. I quickly ran through the storyline, my subconscious terrified of the small town and its graveyard.

It wasn't until many years later I heard the theories of Lavender Town, and they only confirm my belief of its spooky, disturbingly beautiful background.

Posted by: Quomimi Sep 10 2012, 04:35 PM

I wish someone would just PROVE that the kids either did or didn't commit suicide and all that crap. It's seriously either a silly rumor or crazy facts...

Posted by: Minami Bloom Nov 11 2012, 08:36 PM

Lavender town really isnt that scary but it is cool because all you really fight is Gastly and the music is soothing to me.

Back when I played Blue in 2004, I was walked into Lavender town and completed the same day.The following night is that I had a nightmare of my family being killed.

Posted by: Kontrazent Apr 11 2013, 04:57 PM

When I was there the first time, I had no special thought.

The morbid stories came with the internet, it was interesting, but nothing more... no morbid feeling

Posted by: Tartii Jul 4 2013, 08:45 PM

Lavender Town isn't really scary at all, but its music is depressing. It's my favorite BGM of Kanto though. It's Pokemon Tower that gives me the heebie-jeebies. I hated the music in Yellow. Ergh, so annoying!

The only reason that Lavender Town is creepy at all is because of the creepypastas related to it. There's Buried Alive/White Hand, Gary's Raticate, Creepy Black Version, Lavender Town Syndome (LTS) and probably some others that I can't remember.

So, all in all, there's no reason to be frightened of it. But, with my luck, I'll probably watch a HeartGold video and YouTube will crash right when it reaches Lavender Town. :P

Scary isn't the word; unsettling is.

The music is unsettling, the story is unsettling and the things in the town are unsettling. Which is just as effective as being outright scary.

But the more everyone goes on about it the less effective it is.
Because at this point if I read one more "pokemon Creepypasta" with the words "LAVENDER TOWN" "LAVENDER TOWN THEME STARTED PLAYING" "LAVENDER TOWN THEME PLAYED BACKWARDS" "LAVENDER TOWN THEME PLAYED SLOWLY" I'm going to laugh because it's really one huge joke now.

((And just to elaborate: when I say the story is unsettling, I mean the slaughter of the mother Marowak by team rocket. Not the urban legend. Really, there's no evidence. The supposed song that's posted on youtube hasn't killed anyone. It follows the pattern of at least a dozen other creepypasta "someone listened/watched it and killed themselves". Of course it was probably one of the earlier ones written and as much as it annoys me to hear about I have to applaud whoever came up with it. I guess it's pretty unsettling too, I'll admit it. ))

I'm not sure which version I love on my mp3 but I love it... I don't find it very scary, but the mood is super interesting and a little spooky I guess. Mostly just pretty!
